Doctor Recommendation for FUE? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Who would you recommend for the FUE method in the Toronto area. (I’m sure your great but L.A is a little too far for me).

The best way to understand what you are going to get is to meet several patients of that doctor. Also ask the doctor about hair yield with FUE, not graft yield and ask the doctor how he accounts for the loss of hair in an FUE procedure. If he does not understand the question, I would not select that doctor. To answer your question for a doctor in your area, I can not get you a recommendation because I have not seen the results of FUEs from any doctor in Toronto. Buyer beware!

Scalp Scars Tingle When Smoking Pot – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

I have sustained about 4 scars to the back of the head. One scar is about 2 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. I have been very emotionaly and physically impacted by this. But my question is about a tingling sensation I have right above my most profound scar. It is very irritating, and becomes quite bothersome when I smoke pot. And at times I fell like I’m losing hair. Could i be losing hair and is it a result of my injuries or smoking? Why does it feel like that when I smoke, I’ve never had a problem with this until the accident.

My Hair Has Grown an Inch in 6 Months – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

I am 48 years old and male. I have thinning, and my hair has seem to stop growing all together. In 5 or 6 months it might have grown an inch. Is this normal? Thanks

I don’t want to panic you, but reduced growth rates may be a forerunner of diffuse or genetic hair loss. Get youself to a good doctor and have the required medical work-up to be assured that there are no problems with your health or your hair.

Emu Oil and Hair Loss – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

First off thanks for answering my last question regarding thickening shampoos. I have been looking for some help due to a recent increase in the thinning I see. I have read great things about Emu Oil, can any of this be true? I know I am fishing for a magic potion, but anything will help.

It would be nice to have a magic potion. The website says that the hair follicle is just “sleeping”, and that many consumers report an “awakening” of the hair follicle with the use of Emu Oil! The site goes on to say that it is an all-natural tissue nutrient; by applying it to the skin, it helps make the skin become healthy and alive again.

It sounds like sleeping beauty, awakening the hair follicles when they are kissed by what this company hopes is ‘the prince of oils’. I would hope that it would work on your hair, but I strongly doubt it based on what I read on that site. Maybe it would bring back my cat who was put to sleep last month but on second thought, I don’t really want her back, sick as she was.

Are Antibiotics Causing My Hair Loss? – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

I am 16 years old / female and I am having problems with my hair. My hair used to be thick and had volume but now I find my hair falls out easily in the shower and while it is wet, all u have to do is run your fingers through it and hair comes out. My hair is thinning and does not grow as thick. I am on anitbiotics for pneumonia and have been for a year or so now… could that be the reason why? And if not… than what is?

If you have a chronic illness and the antibiotic is for treating it, the illnesses itself could cause hair loss. Any form of medication may have hair loss as a side effect and without knowing what drugs you are taking, I can not tell you its side effect concerning hair loss. Research your antibiotic on Google for potential hair loss side effects.

Itchy Scalp and Female Hair Loss – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

I have had sudden hair loss in about a months time. I had thick curly hair my whole life now it’s half the volume and very thin. I’m 33yrs. old (female). i have lost a lot of weight recently and also been under a great deal of stress. i went to see the dr. and dermatologist they didn’t seem very concerned, but recommended biotin and rogaine for men. i also just started to feel itchy and tingly in the scalp. Is it due to the hair coming out or hair regrowth? This situation is making me more stressed out, and i’m not getting answers anywhere. some info and advice would be appreciated.

As I’ve said here before, there are many causes for hair loss. Be sure to look at the previous responses in the Female Hair Loss category for others in your situation. Stress and sudden weight loss can cause hair loss and would be at the top of my list for you. Itchy scalp can be from hair regrowth or from other factors, such as nervous disorders and stress which causes hair loss. Other causes for your hair loss and itching include imflammatory disease, psoriasis, alopecia areata, etc. Sometimes, a person can have an itchy scalp from lotions/creams which they put on their scalp. You need a blood work up to rule out hypothyroidism, anemia, and other reversible medical diseases.

Thank you for your reponse to my inquiry regarding significant hair loss after discontinuing Propoecia. I do believe that Finasteride has altered my hormonal balance and caused a dramatic acceleration of hair loss.

I am going to get some blood work done, what should I test for?

Before coming to Los Angeles, see your doctor to rule out the various medical conditions that cause hair loss, including thyroid disease. He should know the differential diagnosis. I cannot comment on the acceleration of the hair loss with Propecia as that has not been my experience, so a medical work up is critical before you make the long journey to California.
