Demodecosis and Hair Loss – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

Dear Doctor,
I have recently recoverd from demodecosis (pathological demodex infestation) and now my hair is growing back (front recession and vertex thinning).

What the heck is going on?

Infestation with parasites can cause a lot of problems. Fortunately, these are not that common in the United States. I honestly don’t know what is going on, since I don’t have all of the info. Where have you been and what have you been doing? Where is the explosure coming from?

You can expect your hair to return with proper treatment, just as you are seeing. For more info on this, please see: eMedicine.com

  1. I have been doing nothing extraordinary.
I had folliculitis in my beard and after a bout of seb.derm I decided to find a cure for the folliculitis as well.
I was completely normal looking before treatmenst. Late thirties with receeding hairline (classic MBP IMO). Anyway when I started to kill off the mites my forehead exploded with eruptions from the mites dieing in my skin. This matched up exactly with my MBP.
Anyway, I think this is far more common then you believe and that many would benefit from the destruction of mites on their body.

  2. What are you utilizing to wipe out these suckers, Tea Tree Oil? soap with essential oils? also, how long have the Demodex been “jumping” out of your skin/ forehead?
