I was on Methyl Predisolone for 20 months for Complicated Migrains. 8mg for 5 months and weaned off for many months slowly. Since I went off my hair is falling out and thinning. It did not happen when I was on them only when I went off. Does this end after a while? Is it permanent? My parents did not have hair loss. I am 44 years old. Female.
While there are many drugs that can cause hair thinning and hair loss generally for women hair loss is due to other medical causes, such as thyroid conditions for example. Genetics (which you have no control over) also play a key part. As such, your hair loss may seem related, but I cannot say if it was the medication. Even if it was the cause, there is no way to know if your hair will return back to its original state. Only time can tell… (about one year).

If you wash your hair about 1 hour after applying the Rogaine, I would expect that all of the medication will be washed off (it’ll be absorbed within that first hour), making it safe to be near your cats. Also, Rogaine is not a prescription item and is available over the counter.
Scalp Med’s active hair loss treatment ingredient is minoxidil, along with added ingredients that aren’t going to regrow hair and a much higher price tag than generic minoxidil. You can build dependence on minoxidil just as you can on Propecia, meaning if you stop either medication, all benefits are gone and any hair retained will be gone. Potential side effects for minoxidil can be found at
The longer you wait to do something about your hair loss, the more hair that is going to be lost. I would highly doubt that Follica will have something available to you this year or any time soon. You should realize that you are playing a game of Russian roulette with each hair follicle. If you’ve already started to recede, then what are you going to wait for? Follica has much promise, but your hair will not wait on the promises.
