This is a follow-up to when the initial charges were files in 2006. Yes, another non-hair loss issue on a hair loss blog, but the thing to take home here is that promotions are common, but truth is elusive. This man fortunately crossed the line and finally paid for it. Too many other never get caught.

Showering After Using Rogaine Foam – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

You stated in a recent post that showering after minoxidil has dried (a few hours) should not present any problems. My question is: how do you think the timeframe is changed by using minox foam? The foam seems to dry on my scalp after 20-30 minutes. Do you think it would be okay to shower an hour or so after I finish applying it?

I ask because I’m using it for frontal recession and minoxidil (of all kinds) makes my hair look absolutely horrid. It would be great to just wake up a bit earlier and avoid this!

The longer you wait, the better assurance that the minoxidil is in your skin. 30 minutes should work, an hour is better.

Can Propecia Affect Body Fat Percentage? – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

Hi Doctor,

First of all, thanks for having the open house last week. I learned a lot of information about hair loss. I am a 21 year old male and I noticed overall hair thinning and a receding hairline since I was 18. I was prescribed Propecia by Dr. Pak when I attended the open house last week, however I am now a bit worried about the side effects. I am somewhat of a gym rat and lift weights 3 or 4 times per week and try my best to maintain a low body fat percentage (around 8%). Can Propecia affect my muscle gains and/or body fat percentage? I am very concerned about this since I no longer have a full head of hair and my body is the only bright spot I have left.

Thanks

PropeciaThe World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) bans the use of finasteride for Olympic athletes because it can be used to mask steroids. In a 2006 New York Times article, it was written that, “…at the end of 2004 the World Anti-Doping Agency added finasteride to its list of banned drugs in international sports. The agency calls finasteride a masking agent that hides the use of more nefarious drugs like the steroid nandrolone.

The reason I bring that up is because some people falsely believe it was added to the list because Propecia (finasteride) itself is a performance enhancing drug. Propecia does increase your testosterone levels slightly as it decreases your DHT levels, but contrary to what some bodybuilders may believe, this slight increase in testosterone will not increase muscle mass or performance. I do not believe it will increase your body fat percentage either, nor will it affect your workout regimen. Keep working out, be proud of your body, and your head of hair.

Labor Day and the ISHRS Meeting in Montreal – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

We’re taking the day off for Labor Day (the first Monday in September), and so that I can travel to beautiful Montreal, Quebec Canada for the 16th annual meeting of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS). The meeting takes place from Wednesday through Sunday, and I’m moderating a discussion on trichophytic closure techniques on Thursday.

Dedicated as always, I’ll still be answering questions throughout the week, so while we may be off today, things will be back to the regularly scheduled blogging first thing tomorrow.
