Hair is Falling Out Rapidly After Changing Shampoos – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

This is quite unusual. I don’t know enough about the products you used or your medical history, though. If you’re losing that much hair in a night, I’d suggest seeing a doctor for an in-person examination. Bring the shampoos you used with you so the doctor can see if there is anything in there that could be of concern.

I Made a Terrible Mistake By Stopping Finasteride Last Year! – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

I made a terrible mistake and need advice on what to do now. I used finasteride for about two years, and got fantastic regrowth. I became afraid of side effects, stopped using the drug about last year, and have now lost all my gains, and possibly more. Is it still worth it for me to jump back on the drug after being off for a year? Is it still possible that I will regrow the hair as I did during my first stint on finasteride?

My pattern is more of a diffuse pattern with no bald spots, but extensive thinning. 26 years old here.

Going back on the drug may help, but I would doubt that it will bring back all of the gains you had before. Because of your youth, you have a better chance than most men at getting benefits from Propecia. Let this be a lesson for those who take the drug so that they know the impact of stopping it.

Can Hair Be Transplanted Anywhere on the Body? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Dr. Rassman,

Is it possible to graft hair onto tissue that is not known to be actual “scalp” tissue?

I have a naturally high hairline, which is unflattering enough that I am considering surgical intervention to lower it. I am not certain about the extent to which MPB has raised it even higher, so I don’t really know where forehead ends and scalp begins. Is it possible for hair that is implanted in the “forehead skin” to grow, or does “scalp” provide the only possible growth environment? I’d only want it lowered by an inch or so.

Yes, you can transplant hair into the forehead or even on the end of your nose and it will grow.

Use of Concealers (with Photos) – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

This is a person with very fine hair that had a small transplant with minimal coverage only in a wide area from hairline to about 4 inches back. The hair was very see-through, but considering where he started, he was very pleased and came in for another transplant to increase the density in the front and top areas. We put concealers (here DermMatch and Toppik in combination) and his resulting photographs now show the appearance of far more fullness than he had from transplants alone. The photos below show the value of these products.

Men Usually Lose Hair In a Particular Order? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Men usually lose hair first in the temporal area, second in the crown, and third, in the vertex or top of the scalp. This is due to the concentration of sweat glands that carry DHT in these areas. So if one where to continuously be flushing sweat daily out of these particular sweat glands with cardiovascular activity fallowed directly by a thorough clean with out giving the sweat time to re saturate itself, why couldn’t that at least help to reduce the concentration of dht? If you could please give brief description on why this would or would not work, that would be great Thanks

I don’t know where you get your information on the cause or the ‘order’ for hair loss. Some men lose hair only in the crown, some only in the hairline — and for those that go completely bald, it can start in the crown or front. There’s no strict order that the body follows. I believe the cause is related strictly to the genetics and flushing it as you suggested will not do much for you.

No Updates (Yet) from Jon & Kate Plus 8 TV Show – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

Just watched the episode of Jon & Kate +8 for the second time, as it was re-run on TLC. The procedure was in March 2008 and Dr. Rassman had said Jon would be returning in eight months for another 2000 graft procedure. Is Jon planning on returning for a second? If so, is the next procedure going to focus more on the crown? Finally, do you have any updated pictures as he is pretty far along at this point.

Thank you and look forward to hearing from you.

Jon and Kate GosselinFor those that don’t know what this show is, check out this post: Hair Transplant on Jon and Kate Plus 8. We have spoken with the family and Jon is thrilled with the results in the frontal area. I believe he will be back here sometime early in the coming year for hair transplants in his crown. I do not have updated photos to post, but will have some when I see him in the coming months and can take pictures in my office.

The only photo I’ve seen of Jon Gosselin recently has been in the pages of People magazine, and the photo was unfortunately too tiny to see how his grafts grew in. It should be noted that the photo on the right is an older press photo and doesn’t show his hair transplant results.

I Notice a Lot of Hairs on My Pillow After Heavy Drinking – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

I’m not balding yet, as far as i can tell, but i’ve noticed that after a night of heavy drinking i wake up and have shed an unusual amount of hairs on my pillow. I know alcohol has effects on your veins and blood flow and i was wondering if there was a correlation?

I doubt that a bout of drinking will cause hair loss unless you are pulling on your hair or moving restlessly in bed while drunk.

I Don’t See Any Normal Daily Hair Loss After Taking Propecia – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

I know it’s normal to lose 100-150 hairs a day. I have MPB and been losing about this much maybe more but I don’t think so. I always saw those clumps in the shower and tons of hairs during styling. But in the end I think they were those 100-150 hairs. I been on Propecia for almost 5 months and for several weeks now I don’t see much hairs during styling and almost nothing at showering. So if it’s normal to lose hairs even without MPB how come I see very little shedding now?

Appreciate your circumstances. You are probably losing hair during the daytime without realizing it… perhaps when the wind blows, when you run your fingers through your hair, scratch your head, etc. It sounds like Propecia is working well to control your hair loss.
