Im a 27 year old male,my hair has been thinning since I was 23.I still got hair on top and at the front but is thinning on the crown. After tried herbal remedies like Provillus (waste of time and money, honestly) and tried different topical lotions like Revivogen( the same as Provillus,waste of time and money.) Please guys don’t even think about this kind of products,they don’t work!!!I just decided to try Propecia after a year of research,Im still bit scared about the side effects but I think I’m going to give it a go and see if it works for me. My question is: is possible to take a dose of 0.5 daily in case I get any of the side effects? Is this safe an effective?

You should take 1mg of Propecia (per your doctor’s prescription) and if you develop side effects, you can cut the dose… but going the other way makes no sense. 99% of people do not get sexual side effects addressing sexual performance. Why would you assume you are in the 1% group of the population?

My biggest concern before starting Propecia was the potential permanency of side effects, and I put it off for a year before starting it… mistake.I was even worried after starting it, thinking that even if the drug didn’t cause a side effect, me being worried about it would cause it psychologically.I’ve been taking the pill for 3 months with no noticeable side effects… now I just hope that it’ll start working and the side effects don’t come later on.

I too started 0.5mg Propecia due to personal paranoia. I had sides only for two days during the second week when my testicles were killing me and some watery semen. Since then, smooth sailing. At 1 month, I increased to 0.75mg Propecia (actually was a couple days ago). At 2 months, I will increase to the standard 1mg.
I think this way is valid too because if you take 1mg and sides kick in right away, you get scared of this drug completely. At least this way, you know your tolerance and learn to feel comfortably with the drug.
Hey guys – I’m in the same boat as you. I’ve been noticing thinning, but have been reluctant to take Propecia because of 1) the shed and 2) the side effects.
Can the two you let me know whether you’ve had a noticeable shed and whether the side-effects have been real.

I haven’t experienced any shedding… the same areas of my head still seem to be covered with hair (that’s not to say I know if it’s working yet or not).
Regarding the side effects, I haven’t experienced any. My erection and libido seem to be the same as they were pre-Propecia, which was about 3 months ago (this upcoming Monday will be the conclusion of 3 months).
