i’m just trying to understand the science behind balding. From my reading ive gathered that DHT is responsible for hair loss on hair follicles that have a genetic susceptibility. my question is, why does balding (MPB) start when it does? I know this varies from each person but surely DHT has always been present in the human body and that those hair follicles have always contained the gene present that makes them prone to dht binding to the cells? What causes the gene to suddenly start the hair loss?

There are mysteries to the trigger mechanisms for the beginning of hair loss that we do not understand, although there is a lot of guess work out there. When we know the answer to the trigger mechanism and its cause, we may be able to prevent balding.
