Dear Dr. Rassman,
I take finasteride (1/4 Proscar pill)daily first thing in the morning with a glass of water on an empty stomach. However, shortly afterwards, I start to sip on my morning cup of coffee to get my caffeine fix going. I typically don’t EAT anything until at least an hour or so after taking finasteride.
Are you aware of any interference coffee/caffeine would have with the absorption/digestion of finasteride?

You can drink coffee (hot, cold, iced, warm), tea, milk, water, juice, and even Green Eggs and Ham. It won’t change the effectiveness of the finasteride you’re taking. The only food or drink I know of that you shouldn’t take with finasteride is grapefruit and grapefruit juice (see here).
