Seeing Hair Loss After Using Nizoral – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Hi Dr.Rassman, I have a question about Nizoral and hair shedding. Whenever I use Nizoral for my saborhea dermatitis the next day i have alot more hairs fall out then usual. Is this normal or can it cause permanent damage?

Some people use Nizoral (ketoconazole) to minimize hair loss. Whether it works as a hair loss treatment hasn’t been proven to my satisfaction, though.

If you see a cause and effect relationship, then you can be the master of your own destiny. The simple act would be to stop using it. Perhaps a different dandruff treatment will work better for you.

  1. When I first noticed my hair loss I used Nizoral and I also noticed an increase in shedding every time I used it. I know other people have reported the same problem.

  2. whenever i notice increase in shedding, i would try to give my hair a rest from shampoos or chemicals that i put on it and let it breath and let the natural oil take over. then when i wash it after a day, it’ll feel fresh and clean. it works for me…

  3. Hi, Three weeks back i started using Nizoral 2% Shampoee. I used it four times in two weeks and i lost 50% of my hair on Vertex/Crown also on the Front just in three weeks. I got lot of rashes and bumps on my head..It was severyly irritating on my head..Also i had rapid heart bead. Dizzines and breathing problems. I realized that all this is because of Nizoral usage lately and i stopped using it. I am worried if i am i will be able to regrow my hair back or not. This is realy bothering me. By the way my age is 25 Years.
