Patent Switched from Topical Minoxidil and Finasteride to Oral Minoxidil with Regrets

I was prescribed 0.25mg oral minoxidil for hair loss. I stopped taking Finasteride and topical Minoxidil. I lost much of the benefits I had, including my gains from my previous treatments such as my frontal hair, my temples, and the hair in the crown, which had regrown with the topical Minoxidil. I regret ever switching the original treatment approach.

Patches of Hair Loss from Medication?

I am 31 years old, and I have noticed patches of my hair have been falling out in certain areas. Friends have noticed as well, especially right at the front of my forehead. I have been on birth control for several years ortho novum 777, and recently changed to a new pill this month called (low estrogen), due to medicine I am taking for seizures(Topamax) What can I take to help this? I don’t want my hair falling out. Please help me

Some of the medications you are taking can cause hair loss, but patches of hair loss on one side of your head indicate either an infection problem (like ringworm) or a condition called alopecia areata. You need to see a specialist for this. It is not for me (over the internet) to diagnose your problem, but it does need a competent medical expert.

Part of my hair turned white

Only part of my my hairs are white — the tip is black, the root is black, only 2-3mm of the hair near the tip is white. It’s odd. I assume it’s the part of the hair that was growing from the root around the time of the transplant. Does that make sense?

Yes, I believe your analysis is probable.

Pantogar

Dear Doctor Rassman,
I have been on propecia for one year. I want to ask you if I can take pantogar tablets (which is a supplement for hair loss and gray hair) along with propecia? Or will there be any negative interaction between them? Thank you vry much for your answer in advance.
Sincerely,

Pantogar capsules contain: Thiamini nitras 60 mg, Calcii pantothenas 60 mg, Cystinum 20 mg, Faex medicinalis 100 mg,Acidum paraminobenzoicum 20 mg, Keratinum 20 mg

I do not know about Pantogar, except for one article I found that seems somewhat credible: EHRS

As I have no first hand knowledge of it, I can not comment on any overlap with Propecia.

Pantogar and Female Hair Loss

I am a 22 year old woman living in essex i have a problem with hair loss wich worries me alot i have long hair but now my hair has gone weak and unhealthy and i would like to know ways in which i can do to prevent the hair loss because i know its not normal in women of this age. im takin ‘pantogar’ which is a hair loss treatment but i dont know if its good enough. if theres another solution other than transplantation please let me know. thankyou i will be waiting for your reply

Pantogar is a homeopathic, nutritional supplement which is promoted for hair and nail problems. It is claimed to be used in the treatment of early hair loss, but there is no proven science for this supplement to show how it may work, or that it is worthwhile and valuable.

The diagnosis of female hair loss requires a close examination, something that can not be done over this distance. Unlike men, a woman’s hair loss situation is not easy to diagnose and treat. You need to see a doctor who specializes in female hair loss near your home. Try using the physician search at ISHRS.org and HairTransplantNetwork.com. Sorry, but there is not much else I can offer you over the internet.

Panic Attacks and Hair Loss?

Sometimes, i panic (over nothing really), and because of that, it gets difficult to breath and in some cases, i feel anxiety and get dizzy (because of the panic). Could that contribute to hair loss? I am a male diffusing on the scalp (not sides), shedding very much, and shedded stripes have a clear (big) white bulb at the end.

Yes, you can certainly lose hair from stress caused from your extreme anxiety. It could precipitate your genetic balding earlier than it would’ve, as is generally the case for men that have stress induced loss. It sounds like you need a good, caring doctor to get your anxiety under control.

Palpitations and chest pain with minoxidil

I recently got started with Min 10% topical and Fin 1mg, I have been noticing uneven heartbeat and uneasiness at the right side of my chest. Is this something I need to worry about, should I discontinue it?

Heart palpitations and chest pain can be caused by minoxidil, especially at the 10% dose you are taking. It is clearly being absorbed into your blood stream and probably making you hypotensive

I Noticed I Am Thinning At The Vertex, But No One In My Family Is Bald

I always have thin hair when I was young. However, I noticed that the vertex of my head is really sparse. I am only 20 this year. Asian.

The thing is my family has NO HISTORY of balding. Both paternal and maternal side. However, my mom and dad hair are thin probably due to age.

Will I go bald eventually?

Genetic balding in men happens after the puberty years in their 20’s and 30’s. Most hair loss falls into one of the Norwood hair loss patterns. Not everyone who goes bald will fit into one of the many patterns. Of note only 7 to 8% of men go completely bald.

You do not need to have family history of balding to inherit the genes for balding as mutations or gene expressions can cause this to show up. It can skip generations and the exact inheritance pattern is not well defined. If you think you are balding, you can see a doctor for an examination. Some doctors can do the Bulk test of even Miniaturization studies. There is no way to predict if you will go bald. We are not fortune/misfortune tellers.
