This is a picture of two patients with a hair transplant. Please note the alignment of the grafts, like soldiers in a field. It should look like a random pattern and not a series of circular lines as hair grows in random patterns. In these patients, when the hair grows out, you will see a similar circular pattern and know that it was a hair transplant. Smoking may have some effect on the blood flow to the scalp but there is no evidence that it accelerates the balding process. Stress is; however, known to accelerate the balding process and people who some often use smoking as a stress relief.

I’ve seen all of the questions about l-arginine, and I even asked one before, but I was only referred to another answer which didn’t answer my particular question. I’ve heard that l-arginine increases growth hormone. This doesn’t sound too good. Does an increase in growth hormone mean hair loss is a possible result?

There are reports that L-arginine increases growth hormone secretion, but it is unproven. Throughout the internet, L-arginine is a suggested treatment for hair loss by promoting hair growth, but if this is true and it does increase growth hormone, I would worry about growth hormone induced hair loss. These two statements appear contradictory, but it does reflect complex interactions that are presented throughout the internet.

This is an interesting read. It is still a long way from the mouse to the human.

The key here is to find an honorable doctor who can build a Master Plan for your short and long term future. It may not mean a hair transplant so you have to find a doctor who can tell you NOT to do a surgery so that you don’t make a mistake if it is the wrong decision for you. The amount of hair that is moved, is another issue of good planning. Hair loss is progressive, so you must not waste the limited donor hair you have.

Question about Hair Transplant from tressless

After a hair transplant, the grafts (hairs) go into a sleep phase which can last 1-4 months. Then, the new hairs sprout and start coming in waves and grow at a rate of 1/2 inch per month. The fullness you see by the 8th month reflects the density that the grafts (hairs) were put in by the surgeon. The greater the area of balding, the more grafts are needed. How do you know this? Any evidence you can provide? Anecdotally on Reddit and hair forums – you read hundreds of posts of people “sprouting new mini hairs” (ie at the hairline), after starting finasteride, minoxidil, and more recently – dermarolling. These hairs may not necessarily be fully miniaturized – but they certainly are thinner than other terminal hairs.

I have seen patients with significant miniaturization placed on finasteride and then upon re-examining them, I saw less miniaturization as hair seem to become thicker in the same areas I examined.
