Is There a Pill to Prevent Shock Loss?

What is fallout/Shockloss? Is there a pill or something I can take after surgery to prevent it, or is it temporary and nothing to worry about?

I just made a post related to this yesterday (see How Long Should I Take Propecia Before Transplant to Prevent Shock Loss?).

Shock loss occurs when the follicle becomes ‘insulted’ by swelling and inflammation, causing the hair to shed from the follicle. The follicle then enters a resting state and may never go back to an active state (if there is genetic balding in that particular follicle) or after a period of time it may go back to an active state and grow normally again. We suggest taking Propecia before the surgery to help minimize shock loss after hair transplantation because the hairs that are genetically impacted have the greatest risk of permanent loss from the shock of the hair transplant process. Propecia minimizes this risk.

Is There a Part of the Scalp More Likely to Have Shock Loss?

hello.
My question is, if shock loss is one of the side effects with a HT would the doctor insert more graphs in a particular area knowing that shock loss would occur? This way a patient doesn’t feel as if he or she didn’t get a proper procedure done and it looks as if more hair is there then the patient originally began with.

As well, are the hair line and frontal areas more susceptible to shock loss versus the back, top part (Crown) and sides of the head?

The areas most likely to have shock loss are the areas where miniaturization is present. There isn’t one part of the scalp that is more susceptible than another. The more miniaturized the hair is, the greater the risk over time.

Shock loss doesn’t occur for all patients, and taking finasteride prior to surgery usually protects the body from hair transplant induced shock.

Is There a Good Way to Stop Taking Finasteride?

What is the best way to stop finasteride ? all of a sudden or gradually ? , can sudden withdrawal cause rebound effect and more worsening (speaking of side effects not hairloss) ? and if gradual withdrawal is the best then how can i do so ?

thanks

The half-life of the drug in your body is somewhere between 4-6 hours. That means essentially that most of the drug that you take today will be gone tomorrow. Once the drug levels drop below a certain level, you will lose the effectiveness of the drug and it may take 1-3 months for the impact of the loss to be seen in your hair falling out. Tissue levels may maintain the effect of the drug for a couple of weeks or so.

The answer to your question — there’s no “best” way to stop the medication.

Is there a gene for balding?

On these sending DNA Sites you can see what your likelihood is of going bald. Is there a specific gene that causes this?

The genes (many genes) have not been fully identified. the company 23 & me is not reliable for predicting hair loss because even if you have the genes, these genes may not express themselves.

Is There a Drug for Facial Hair Growth?

is there a medicine, vitamins or any way to make facial hair grow?

Minoxidil is known to produce facial hair in some when applied to the face, but I can not tell you what will happen if you are trying to push beard growth by using it if you’re very young. I am not aware nor do I think that minoxidil will bring on a bristly beard.

If you want to accelerate your beard growth, I do not know any drug or vitamin that will help.

Is there a connection between DUPA and DHT?

Nobody knows if there is a connection between Diffuse Unpatterened Alopecia (DUPA) and the action of DHT on the hair receptors. but I doubt that it fits the classic model for male pattern genetic loss; nevertheless, because finasteride is the only drug that we can use to block DHT and we know that sometimes it works, finasteride is the drug of choice for DUPA. People with DUPA can also develop patterned balding which shows that there is not a direct connection between the two.

Is the research that shows stress accelerates balding?

Is there scientific research behind this? I searched pubmed but couldn’t find anything

I have years of experience where patients developed stress and precipitated the balding process that they inherited. I have also seen acceleration of genetic hair loss with stress. I remember a man who lost a child and he went completely bald to his Class 7 pattern in a matter of months. He was 29 years old.

Is the number of harvestable grafts a lot higher if the patient caught MPB early and immediately started taking action (anti-androgens)?

No, the number of harvestable grafts are fixed for your lifetime and depend upon your original donor density which the doctor can measure. That is why we are careful about what we take from the donor area when we do a hair transplant. As the limit for a typical Caucasian is about 7,500 grafts, then as this number is drawn down, it can’t be replaced and eventually there is no donor hair left. This is my concern in Turkey where they will take out 6000 grafts in a single session, leaving almost nothing left for future balding (which is almost a certainty) and they do it all with FUE, but most people can’t handle more than 3,750 FUE grafts before they start looking bald in the back of their head (see: https://baldingblog.com/collection-victim-photos-internet-harvested-depleted-donor-areas/.

Is the last stage of balding always so fast?

During years me and my friends were balding and this year my friends went from diffuse thining to NW4/5 with a hairline. Even me before iv’e started Fin my hairloss went full speed in less then a year. From a NW1.5 to NW3 with crown thinning…

Does it always happen?

It all depends upon your genetics. Young men who inherit an advanced balding pattern usually get it by the time that they are 26 years old and will see the hair fall away rapidly starting somewhere between 17-21, Look at your parents family patterns (mother and father) so see what you might expect to see in yourself. Find a good doctor and build a proper Master Plan with that doctor to manage the hair loss if you are in this situation.
