H-Pantoten 3 and Hair Growth?

what is your opinion on H-Pantoten 3 . I had a lady tell me that it had done wonders for her husbands hair growth.

H-Pantoten 3 is a natural supplement, and as stated many times here on BaldingBlog, it is my opinion that there are no proven supplement treatments for hair loss. If if it worked for the lady’s husband, I’m pleased to hear it! However, this is a “buyer beware” market. It seems most people think it is worth a shot if the cost is right, and as such, we collectively spend millions, if not billions of dollars on that elusive hair loss treatment.

To date the only proven method for regrowing hair is:

  1. oral finasteride 1mg (Propecia) — for men only
  2. topical minoxidil (Rogaine) — for men and women
  3. hair transplant surgery — for men and women, though more men are candidates

Gynecomastia vs Man Boobs

I have so called manboobs,I dont think it’s because of Fin. I gained weight those last months and I know that when I take weight I store fat on my chest and belly. But I was thinking if I had gyno I don’t know if I could stop taking Fin, Of course it’ll depend of the gravity of the gyno but thinking losing all my gain :(I should better start a good diet and hit the gym!)

Men who put on weight, may develop man boobs and that is not gynecomastia. There is a huge difference and the risks of gynecomastia are very small. If you think that you are one of the few that got it, see your doctor to confirm it and possibly treat it if it really bothers you. Liposuction works well.

Gynecomastia or nocebo effect?

So I started taking finastaride on Saturday the 22nd of June. And here is what I have taken. Saturday 0.25mg Sunday missed a pill (hurt my leg playing football and was in hospital for scans) Monday 0.25 Tuesday 0.25 Wednesday 0.25

So here’s my question. I have taken in total 1mg of finastaride and last (Thursday)I have started to have an irrated nipple to the point where it feels like it has been chaffing on my T-shirt’s( I was wearing a rough embroider shirt) I’ve had no other sides (for now) and I am well aware that this could be in my head and I am a massive over thinker in these types of situations but the things that are swaying me to thinking gyno is:

  1. I had gyno as a pubescent teenager (had the full lumps and everything during puberty, it wasn’t bad and it didn’t make it look puffy but it was there I think)

  2. I had a doctors appointment today and i mentioned my symptoms and how I was feeling, I was had told my doctor I had been on finastaride for 2 weeks (obviously a lie, was a brain lag it’s not even been 1 week) and she felt around my pectoral area and she said my left hand side (which is the tender/irrated one) is slightly fuller than my right. But my right is also a bit fuller.

So my question is, do you guys believe this could be gyno? My doctor recommended to stop for 2 weeks and see what happens to the symptoms. I’m just unsure how fast gyno can happen?? I really don’t want to lose my hair so I’m debating whether taking a SERM with finastaride??

Thanks a lot for listening and I’ll be very grateful to listen to anything

After a single dose or a limited dose, I doubt that the gynecomastia would get worse. Considering your history, I would think that you are too much focused on this side effect and .what you are experiencing may be a nocebo effect. Seeing your doctor is a good idea.

Gynecomastia from too many drugs

I got this from taking estrogens and oral antiandrogens. What do I do now?

Unfortunately, you loaded your system with estrogens and knocked down the balancing act with testosterone. Hopefully, you you stop it, it will go away but that is not guaranteed.

Gynecomastia from Saw Palmetto?

Hi Doctor,

Thanks in advance for reading.

I have a pretty important question that I would love to receive feedback on. I’ve been on rogaine for about 5 to 7 years and I do believe it has helped maintain my hair; but unfortunately, it has not been up to the task of keeping it 100% stable. Due to my thinning, about a year ago, I decided it’s time to consider propecia. I’m in my 30s.

For various reasons (my wife was prego), I decided for about a year on propecia and try natural supplements first and other topicals first. So, I purchased a specific type of shampoo (I’m drawing a blank on the name) and soy isoflavones. I took those for about one or two months and stopped because my sister (who’s had breast cancer) told me excess soy can cause cancer.

At that point, I heard good things about saw palmetto. So, I bought a bottle of saw palmetto. I took this for roughly 3 or 4 months, although I gained some weight and had normal decline in libido (watery semen)… this really did seem to make my hair thicker. I don’t remember the dosage. But, it was purchased at a pharmacy.

At about month 4, I noticed a swelling on one side of my chest. I got it checked out mammogram, and they said it was unilateral gynecomastia. I quickly stopped the saw palmetto usage.

So, it’s now 8 months later and my hair is still thinning. My chest is now improving to the point it’s no longer really noticeable, other sides are reversing too. I’m considering waiting a few more months to see if it returns 100% back to normal completely, and considering propecia again at that point.

Am I crazy for doing so? What would you recommend?

Thanks

It seems you are self-treating and experimenting without a clear focus and understanding of what is going on. I realize saw palmetto is available over the counter, but there is still side effect potential that people tend to ignore.

I am really not in a place to recommend a specific treatment plan for you, as I don’t know enough about your hair loss history and I’m not your doctor. I would recommend you see a doctor for your hair loss issues and discuss your concerns. Together, you can come up with a Master Plan.

Although I have no direct experience with saw palmetto, I would not be surprised that breast enlargement could occur on rare occasions. I must point out that one of the rare side effects of Propecia is gynecomastia and if you switched to that, you may also have the same problem.

Gynecomastia from Finasteride, lumps removed. Will it come back?

I was taking finasteride and developed breast lumps. I met with a surgeon who recommend that I remove them and then followed through and had them removed. My question is: If I continue to take finasteride, will I get breast lumps back again?

Usually the surgery solves the targeted breast area so it is unusual to have it a second time. Most people who have had the surgery for such complications, stop the drug for fear of it returning so my experience is limited based upon patient choices.

Gynecomastia and Finasteride

Hi, Is there any conclusive evidence that the regular use of Finasteride (Propecia) for hair loss can result in Gynocomastia as a side-effect?

The Physician’s Desk Reference does not list this drug as a possible cause of Gynocomastia, but I have heard mixed stories from individuals.

Results of any known conclusive studies in this regard would be appreciated.

Gynecomastia is a known side effect from the use of Propecia. I do not understand the mechanism of action for it, but when it does happen, most men usually find it as a reason to stop using Propecia. Fortunately, I believe that the incidence is well below 1 in 300 men. I don’t know of any studies off the top of my head, but if any blog readers happen to have a link to any studies posted online, please feel free to post the link in the comments.

Guys who have gotten hair transplants, how has it impacted your dating/social life?

I’m 24, considering getting an FUE procedure sometime soon. Have you gotten more attention from women with the new hair? Do you feel more confident and has it eased the psychological burden of hair loss for you? Would you say overall it was worth it?

What my patients tell me is that they get more confidence in themselves and that shows in how you relate to people. Many big celebrities told me that after I did their hair transplant, their careers took off, probably because of improved self-confidence.
