The problem of those clinics is that they are doing like 15 patients per day. Most of those clinics are just hair mill, everything is rushed

You get to see the experienced surgeon only five minutes to draw you your hairline … He doens’t even answer your questions. People who are actually doing the FUE are inexperiencied technicians … The surgeon doesn’t do anything on your hair except drawing the line and trying to sell you useless vitamins ….

The surgeon even forced my friend to buy finasteride, he said you need to take finasteride for 1 week after the HT to make it succesful lol. They recruit new technician very often because the demand is so high, i went to turkey with a friend for his FUE, the technician said he started this week

The result my friend got is pretty bad, overharvested donor area, unnatural temples, pluggy hair, loft graft during operation, technician using snapchat during the operation etc … And he choosed one of the best “low cost” clinic in Turkey with a ton of “good reviews” So basically those clinics only show the good results or fake review …

Be careful, if FUE price in turkey is cheap, it’s for a reason

We are seeing more and more problems with Scalp Micropigmentation in our office from other facilities that offer SMP. These services are not only offered by inexperienced doctors, but also many tattooists have entered the business because there is money to make. What we are seeing are blotches of pigments, not microdots as we do. Where we might spend over 20 hours doing a full head, these facilities do it in a few hours. Clearly, this it is not an apples to apples comparison. Blotches on the scalp that everyone can see are deforming. Even if they are hidden below the hair, they can be seen in bright light when you go outdoors and just don’t look good. Many doctors are just addressing the scars from previous strip surgeries and as most of these scars are hidden by hair so the blotchy work may not show up unless the person goes swimming, takes a shower and is intimate with another person. Just because it is done by a doctor or in a doctor’s office, does not mean that it will meet the standard of care that we have established. Many doctors hire a tattooist or cosmetologist with no training in SMP just because they know how to do a tattoo. Many of the pigments they use turn green so that they stand-out even more. Would you like a green head?

There are temporary tattoos which seem to be adopted by many doctors and tattooists. Although these tattoos last only two years or so and they fade over these two years, the temporary nature of the tattoo means that constant touch-ups are needed. The temporary SMP pigments have been adopted by doctors usually unskilled in the art, so they know that their bad work will eventually fade. As they get their money ‘up-front’ they pass the problem to their patients for the two years that the ink remains on this scalp.

Be sure to ask to see the patients of those people who you are considering when you interview the provider for the SMP services you are going to get. Seeing their patients and looking at them in a discriminate manner, will tell you all you need to know. I’m 18 and I’ve been secretly taking fin for 1.5 years (23m, losing hair since 18m mostly temples), I mainly kept what I had and regrew a bit.. Now I want to take a break for a few months, thoughts?

Taking a 2 months break will cause you to get “Catch-up Hair Loss” which means not only will you lose the benefits but you will also lose the hair you might have lost that the drug stopped from falling out. Think twice about it!

Finasteride is not reported to come across in the sperm; however, if you are wanting to be extra-sure and you are planning on pregnancy, since finasteride has a half life of only 6 hours in the blood stream, you can assume that within a day or two after taking it, it will not be in your semen. To take advantage of this, you can stop finasteride mid-cycle, starting it on the day of her period for 10 days, stopping it for 10 days and the restarting it again. Women ovulate mid-cycle at about 15 days post period. The finasteride stays in the hair follicle for at least 7 days, probably more so stopping the medication should not be in the blood stream or semen at day 10-20 following the start of her period.

I quit finasteride 2 weeks ago because I noticed less libido. I’m in desperate need for reassurance that I could still get it back and that it didn’t do permanent damage. Any reply is appreciated especially from those who had similar experience.

Yes, the 0.5mg does is 80% effective and you can ease into the full dose it that makes you more comfortable.

I just showed his style but if you understand hair transplants, assuming that we moved 30,000 hairs to cover his balding Class 7 pattern, the normal density can never be achieved which in him was over 100,000 hairs. There is a reality that you should know about. If you took a normal full haired man with Black hair and very white skin (essentially like newspaper print) and removed half of the hairs on one side of his head, you could not tell which was the 50% of density side by looking at him. This was actually done by an obsessive compulsive doctor some years ago to prove that a full looking head of hair can be obtained with less than normal densities. The less the color/contrast between hair and scalp color, the less hair you need to look full headed. A blonde can look full headed with 75-85% of his hair gone with good styling. So, in conclusion, the look is tied to the art of the surgeon who understands there nuances.

I understand the reason people say you must go on fin, is to stop their hairloss. But I really want to keep my libido. Lets say I get a transplant and don’t go on finasteride. I probably could have a nice hairline for a few years, then I will start to look weird. But I’m pretty much content with shaving it short once I’m older. I don’t care if I have good hair from mid 30s and forward. I feel like its OK to be bald then. I just want the rest of my youth with good hair. What is your thoughts on this? Also my main problem is receding sides. And its been that way a very long time.

Hair transplants should wait until you are at least 25, in some unusual circumstances this timeline can be moved forward. At 25, with a good HAIRCHECK instrument check, I can predict your eventual balding pattern with some degree of accuracy. With this information, I create a MASTER PLAN for your hair loss management and if that management includes surgery, then the plan will address a ‘what if’ you should continue to bald.

Unless you are going to have a very advanced hair loss pattern, the constant hair transplants every two years is not probable and if you are going to develop a very advanced pattern of balding, a totally new discussion must be undertaken with your doctor. The concept of a MASTER PLAN is like everything in life. An architect can’t build a building without a Master Plan, nor can an army wage a war without it. The doctor who builds your MASTER PLAN will be making a commitment with you and that should assuage your fears.

I have been doing such planning with patients for 27 years in this business and I can’t tell you how many of my patients are grateful for the openness and honesty that comes with selecting the right doctor. The good news is that there are many such doctors out in the world who care about people like you. Do your homework and explore the process. In summary, a 1-mg dose of finasteride does not appear to adversely affect spermatogenesis. In addition, the level present in the ejaculate of patients taking 1 mg appears to be negligible. Thus, there does not appear to be any need to stop 1 mg of finasteride in those patients trying to conceive or in those whose partners are pregnant.
