Can the Dermapen Kill My Hair?

Dear sir, Reg. your comment on the diffuse thinning post – I got a Dermapen 2.00 mm done once. Is it possible that it killed my follicles permanently?

It is unlikely that this instrument would kill your hair as its depth is not deep enough to reach the hair root.

Can Daily Washing Damage Your Hair?

Hello, Dr. Rassman

I have a question about washing your hair daily. For us minoxidil users it’s obviously recommended to use the products twice a day on a clean scalp. My question is: Does washing your hair twice a day damage your hair? Of course, the more you mess around with your scalp the more hairs will tend to fall. So, does the constant washing “damage” the follicles and weaken them?

Thank you for all the information in your site and all your help.

If you wash properly and do not rub your fingers vigorously into your scalp, twice a day hair washing will not cause a problem.

Can Creatine powder cause hair loss?

Can Clobex and Luxiq Regrow My Hair Faster?

(female)
I recently had a huge knot in my hair instead of waiting for my stylist to look at it I slowly ended up having a huge bald spot the size of a grapefruit in the back. I have gone to a dermatologist to get some clobex shampoo and luxiq foam and I was wondering how much faster does this help your hair grow than if I used nothing at all.

LuxiqClobex (clobetasol propionate) is used to treat psoriasis. Luxiq foam (betamethasone) is a corticosteroid and also used in the treatment of psoriasis. I don’t know why you’d be prescribed these with the goal of growing your hair faster.

I have no clue what is causing your hair loss (was it just ripped out??), but perhaps you should ask your dermatologist for a diagnosis of what you are attempting to treat. Find out the success rate of such treatments and get realistic expectations.

Can Botox Prevent Hair Loss?

From the press release:

Preliminary findings have shown that BOTOX® injections into the scalp may effectively delay hair loss and even prevent baldness.

No published, peer-reviewed articles back up any of their “preliminary findings” on Botox as a hair loss treatment (nor are any photos provided of their findings). I’m only posting this for those that might be interested in it. I’ll keep my opinion to myself for now, but just remember that the link doesn’t go to an actual article. It’s a press release… and it definitely reads as a big advertisement for some clinic that provides these expensive injections.
