This proves my point that young men (under 25 and especially under 20) have a higher benefit from taking finasteride than men over 25. Good job and stick to it and maybe you can avoid more hair loss for many years. The photo shows that the miniaturized hairs in the front seem to have become thicker ‘terminal hairs’ which are essentially normal growing hair.

19 Year Old Female with Receding Hairline

I am an almost 19 year old female and I have a high forehead. I was coloring my hair the other day and noticed that I have a receding hairline. I also noticed that there is ‘new growth’ but it is very blonde and there is not enough of it to cover the areas. I have also smoked for three years and have been under quite a bit of stress lately. Will it continue to fall out? Is there anything I can do to stop it from doing so? Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

High hairlines in some women are normal genetic patterns, like the size of your nose and other facial proportions. If you really have a high hairline since you were much younger, then there are things you could do for it surgically.

Some women with the genetic hair loss genes can lose their hair in response to stress and when the stress is over, most regrow their hair. What you are describing, however, is not clear for me to make a diagnosis. I always tell women with hair loss to get checked out by a doctor and be sure that there are not medical causes of hair loss. The most common include hypothyroidism, genetics, hormonal imbalance, pregnancy, anemia, crash diet and oral contraception pill. In your case, smoking does not help your situation, but it is not the main reason for your hair loss. Otherwise, every smoker would be bald. Cigarettes have many chemicals which are toxic to your body and may assist other factors to induce your hair loss. Smoking may lead to less blo0d supply to your scalp which may lead to weakened growth of hair. I recommended that you visit a dermatologist and your primary care doctor to evaluate your hair loss and run blood tests to find out the cause of your hair loss.

19 y/o Sikh male with traction alopecia, will minoxidil solve it?

I have written to you before. Will minoxidil give me enough hair to avoid a hair transplant?

Traction alopecia from the use of a turban is usually permanent. You will know this because if the hair doesn’t regrow without the tight turban in 6 -9 months, it is gone. This is caused by traction. Unfortunately, only a hair transplant will solve the problem. Minoxidil might bring on some weak hair fuzz, but not real hair, worth a try though if you want to delay tackling a hair transplant

19 with hair loss and in a panic (photo)

I’m 19 and went to a doctor about my hair and he refused to give me finasteride. What can I do? I am very depressed about this situation.

Find another doctor! Connect with me at williamrassman33@gmail.com and we can talk and I will prescribe it if indicated. You may not be balding and just maturing your hairline but I can work with you on this over the phone to find out what it is that is bothering you.

I Am 19 and Think That I May Be Developing a Norwood Class 6 or 7 Pattern.

If you are heading to a Class 6 or 7 at the age of 19, although it is unlikely that the drug Finasteride will prevent this, it is still worth a try.

Maybe you are not heading to the Class 6 or 7 pattern, and you inherited a different pattern that is not so advanced. There is no way to really tell. Most people don’t know that these advanced patterns almost always happen before a young man reaches 26 years of age.

Is it even worth fighting at this age? from tressless

19 and losing my hair

I’m 19 and started to notice I was shedding a lot about six weeks ago. In those six weeks I’ve lost probably half of my density at the front, and a decent amount at the crown. What the hell is happening? How can this happen so quickly, this is genuinely devastating. I have an appointment with my GP on Friday where I’ll be trying to get a fin prescription, but I don’t even know if fin can help. If the GP won’t give me a script I’ll probably end up having to wait 8-12 weeks to see a dermatologist, by then it’ll be too late I imagine.

See a doctor who has the HAIRCHECK instrument to find out exactly how much hair you have lost. I doubt that you lost half of your hair in just 6 weeks. If your doctor prescribes you the drug finasteride, then when taking the drug you will know which way you are going, better or worse over time. 1800 Grafts before and after

I performed this surgery on this man with 1800 grafts. Note the picture on the left which is one day after the surgery. Because he washed his hair using our washing technique, he formed no scabs (crusts) on the wounds after the surgery. Note also in the after pictures, that the center forelock which was not transplanted looks like the transplanted corner hairline does with respect to density or fullness

18 years old, what to do?

I have have a really bad, receding hairline with dense hair and no crown problems. I was going to start minoxidil and add finasteride in 2 to 3 years since I still haven’t finished my puberty. I really want to try to recover my hairline, the thing is, I am okay with getting a HT in a few years.

I often prescribe finasteride to 18 years old men. This drug often works very well with a high degree of reversal. If after one year it doesn’t reverse, add oral minoxidil to your routine and worst case, add microneedling 6 months after than it it doesn’t work. Actually, I don’t think that the first or second will fail. A hair transplant is out of the question for at least 7 years and by that time, if you don’t treat it now, you may bald far more than you see now.
