Hair Loss InformationDoes Shaving the Head Cause Hair to Regrow Stronger? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Does one’s hair grow thicker and stronger by shaving the head, especially if some hair is left after chemotherapy is it better to shave it all off so stronger hair grows?

No. Shaving your hair off will not help it regrow thicker. It is an old wives’ tale and it simply ain’t true.

  1. Actually, about ten years ago, I shaved a single hair off, what was at the time, my hairline. My hair line has receded, but that hair I shaved off several times is still there. Sort of, now, in the middle of a cleared area. Not as thick, but still growing strong. This being the first of two hairs that have successfully stuck around. Can’t explain it, however.
I’m not saying that shaving your head will make hair grow thicker and stronger, but those two hairs still exist in areas where there is none. They are thinning, but they are not gone. But I also shaved them when they were healthy and thick at the time. I’m wondering if I had shaved those hairs at a point when they started to thin, it would not have made a difference.
Anyway, a decade has passed and I’m still looking at those hairs and can’t explain it. It’s too coincidental that they still exist. And that’s why I think there should be more studies on shaving.
