Hair Loss InformationCan Alopecia Areata Be Detected Histologically? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Dr. Rassman,

Can Alopecia Areata be detected histologically even when it is not active?

Block Quote

It has to be active and the biopsy must be done at the margin between the hairy area and the bald area (just on the edge). If it’s not active you can’t tell. Otherwise, it just looks like scarring alopecia.

  1. Good post – thank you for the insightful and informative article. I have heard that apples (especially the skin) promotes hair growth. Can anyone tell me if this is correct?
