this is my grandfathers brother. I don’t have a picture of his crown but from this picture could tell me please if he’s a Norwood 6 or 7? I’m praying you will say 6.

Without seeing the back of his head I can’t be sure but from the sides, it looks like a Class 7 pattern. You need a Personalized Master Plan with a good hair restoration doctor. White hair generally does very well with transplants, especially if it has a medium or coarse hair texture

I Had 3500 Grafts and I Want to Know Is My Donor Area Over-Harvested?

Your donor area may be over-harvested reflecting that either the FUEs were taken too close to each other for the density of the area, the punch was too large or your donor area could not support the number of FUE grafts you received. It is possible that the donor area is undergoing vascular shock loss. If this is the case, it might grow back in 6 months or so. If the area that is shown reflects the height and extent of your FUE harvest, then your surgeon took it too high and too low. You might want to get a second opinion.

3mgs finasteride per week for 9 months

The dose you took is almost half the recommended dose. According to the original Merck studies, a half dose is 72% as effective as a full 1mg dose. You were probably at slightly less than 1/2 dose and it worked for you. Good job.

At 38, I Am Thinking About Getting a Hair Transplant.

I am 38 years old and in the early stages of male pattern baldness. Currently, I am probably type 2 but it could evolve into type 4. I have been using coconut oil for the past 1-2 months and I do notice some growth (maybe 5%). However, I was looking into getting a minor hair transplant (FUE). I just had a few questions. If you could shed some light, I would be grateful. Thanks!

  1. I have a short haircut in general with buzzed sides and long hair on top. Do I have to shave my head completely for the procedure?

  2. If I get a minor transplant, and somehow it gets worse in the future, would I be able to get another one? Why do some people say you can only get a few transplants throughout your lifetime? Assuming you have enough donor hair.

  3. Do I have to be on medications after getting a transplant? I am looking into this because I did not want to be on propecia or monoxidil due to the side affects.

  4. How often do you have to come back for checkup and what does the entire procedure entail?

  5. Is there usually a minimum number of grafts that a doctor requires?

1. You only need to shave the back of your head short and within a week it will look like normal short hair.
2. There are lifetime limits to FUE and hair transplants in general. If you exceed these limits, then you can become bald in the back of your head. Read here: https://newhair.com/donor-area/
3. I would like to see pictures of your hairline. If you were my patient, I would do a HAIRCHECK test to find out what the naked eye can’t see from planning purposes. Send photos to: wrassman@newhair.com
4. Once a hair transplant is done, other than a final sign-off with the doctor when it is grown out, there is no real maintenance.
5. There is an activation cost for the surgery room, the staff, and the set-up which is embedded into our fees. Generally, there is a $3,500-4,000 minimum cost but that would include about 600 grafts if it is not FUE.
I look forward to hearing more from you after reviewing photos.

4 Months After Hair Transplant, Seeing Dead Skin and Hair Coming Out

Hi,
Im 4 months post op and noticed some dead skin peeling off fro the recepient area while combing my hair after shower.

There was no blood behind. Just Dead skin with some attached hair to it. is there anything to worry about? Will the hair grow again in place of the dead skin?

thanks

This is probably crusting that you haven’t washed off. I have seen this on people who were too gentle with their post operative washing. See your hair transplant doctor to ask about your post-op care.

3months finasteride & Minoxidil (photo)

So it’s just fin and minoxidil foam. And I miss a lot of days with the foam. More than I should. I’ve only missed a few days of fin, so I think the fin is mostly responsible.

Clearly a good responder for finasteride

6 months on finasteride (photo)

This is an amazing response (left) to the drug finasteride with a complete regrowth of the frontal hair. On the right, this man’s photo suggests good filling of fullness with probably reversal of miniaturization
