Bruce Willis Will Kick Your Ass
Apparently, this is pretty old, but I don’t think I saw it before so it’s new to me and worth sharing. Actor Bruce Willis was quoted earlier this year as saying…
“I’m a man and I will kick anybody’s ass who tries to tell me that I’m not one because my hair’s thinning.”
Strong words. There’s not much more to the article, but here’s the link for those interested:

Bumpy skin in recipient area
I had a hair transplant 8 months ago and I am bothered by bumps which are on the skin everywhere there is a graft. What can this be and will it go away?
Bumpy skin in the recipient area (called cobble stoning) reflects the types of recipient sites and the way the grafts were placed at the time of your original surgery. If the grafts were small, the wounds were very small and the grafts were left flat to the surrounding skin, then there should be no bumps present. See your surgeon and ask your surgeon about the problem that is clearly bothering you.

Bumps on Scalp — Dermatologist Said It Was the Hair Follicles
Hi, I am a female and recently I have been experiencing these bumps on my head and they don’t itch, its just that I know they are there and I want them to go away and so i pick at them and pull the hairs inside the bump out. I am on Adderall for ADHD/ADD and I was wondering if that could have anything to do with this bumps. Also I am wondering if you know what these bumps could be. I also highlight my hair, and I am wondering if you think I might be allergic to the dye or if i could be allergic to the color shampoo I use. I have been to a dermotoligist and she said it had something to do with hair follicles. Thanks for your time!
You did not ask your dermatologist the right questions. Go back to her. If she said that the bumps were hair follicles, then you might have an infection (folliculitis) which she should have treated you for. I really can not tell what is happening to you, but I would be pleased to see you at no charge and give you an opinion if you wanted to come out to my offices in California. Whatever you do, stop picking on it and stay away from the hair dye that you are using to minimize the things it could be.

Building Nails Were Used to Help Place Grafts
In the early 1990s when I pioneered small follicular units in large sessions, many doctors could not place the grafts with forceps in these tiny holes, so they purchase NAILS from a hardware store, and used them as dilators to open these little holes so that they could get the grafts into the balding area. This was barbaric, but the doctors who did this, did this because they had to. Their patients wanted large sessions of small grafts because it became the new Standard of Care that everyone wanted. I hope that they sterilized the nails before they use it. Dr. Brad Wolfe sent these to me as a reminder of things done in the past (not by him but by others).

Does caffeine stimulate hair on the scalp like minoxidil?
Both Caffeine and Minoxidil when applied to the scalp, can induce hair growth. In a recent study in a peer reviewed journal, both 2% caffeine and the 5% minoxidil were both equal in value when applied to the scalp topically.?

Why don’t more men get transplants?
Exampe, those who can afford to). Is there some downside that is not apparent, which is why people bother with minox and fin?
A hair transplant is a careful decision not to be taken lightly. I tell my patients to take their time, wait until they are at least 26 and have the funds put away. Develop a good Master Plan for the hair loss as it evolves as hair loss is generally progressive for some men so even a hair transplant may have to be repeated to keep your hair appears up.

Burning Sensation on Hairline
My scalp on the left side of the hair line has had a feeling of burning off and on for the past 6 months and in the area the hair line is thinning and receding. I am 19 male and was just wondering if it is normal to feel pain if you are going bald geneticly.
Male pattern hair loss is not physically painful. The burning sensation may be secondary to an inflammatory process or an underlying medical condition. You should see a medical doctor for a correct diagnosis.
By 26 years old, how likely will I develop a Class 6 or 7 pattern of balding?
I don’t have the study done by Norwood and Shiell, but my memory is good that 7% of balding men (which is half of all men) will be a Class 7 by the age of 26. I suspect that the number for a Class 6 will be in the 15-25% range, but I don’t remember for sure. I did find this on the internet chart to point you to the age distribution for the Norwood Class 2-4 by age distribution to 40 years of age
