I Want To Harvest Facial Hair for Transplanting Into My Scalp

i am a 25 year old male with some male pattern baldness. I still have quite a bit of hair, but just want to have a full head of hair. I am interested in harvesting from the donor area near the back and sices of my head, but also was interested in hair from my beard (my chin). do facial hair transplants have just as low hair regrowth as body hair. also how many hairs can be transplanted from your chin with just one prcedure.

It would be malpractice for a surgeon to do beard to scalp hair transplants in a 25 year old. If you are committed, please do the standard thing and do not invent your own surgery. The price you will pay will have nothing to do with money.

I want to reduce the size of my forehead now (photos)

Lowering a male hairline is a role for a hair transplant if you are over 25 years of age. I would not seek a hairline advancement surgery (another solution to high hairlines) because male pattern balding (genetic balding) might cause you to lose hair behind the surgery site and expose a scar: https://baldingblog.com/had-a-hair-transplant-at-21-now-at-22-he-has-more-hair-loss/. I would try to reverse the early hair loss with medications such as finasteride and minoxidil and with a little luck, you might get a response like this: https://baldingblog.com/10-months-on-finasteride-fantastic-result-photos/. You need a good doctor who cares about you and will build a Master Plan for you so that you will never look freaky while fixing your forehead or balding problem

I Want to Stop Minoxidil But I’m Worried My Hair Will Get Worse

I have used Minoxidil for 2 years with no results as my hair is not very thin will I start losing more hair than I was before using this product or has Minoxidil kept me from losing more hair and would my hair then become thinner. I would really like to stop.

What can I tell you? You won’t know until you try. There’s simply no way for me to know if you’ve seen any benefits. If minoxidil is helping with hair growth, then if you stop using it you will suffer the consequences (you’ll lose the hair the medication had grown).

If you are determined to stop using minoxidil, then try slowly weaning off of it (rather than abruptly stopping it).

I Want to Slow My Hair Loss Without Drugs

I am 18 year old male and im starting to notice my hair loss its not that bad but im afraid it might get worse. My dad is 50 and he’s completely bald but his dad is not as bald.Im not taking any drugs but im using this shampoo called Loreal paris thickining shampoo it helps a little. is there any thing i can do to prevent or slow down the process? whithout drugs like Propecia or Rogaine.

No.

Male pattern hair loss is genetic. It is due to a hormone called DHT (dihydrotestosterone). Despite media hype and mass marketing promoting “DHT blockers”, there is no cure for balding. Even drugs such as Propecia and Rogaine have limitations, yet they are the most effective and proven medical regimen for androgenic alopecia (AGA), also known as male pattern balding (MPB). Another option is hair transplantation.

If you lived near the ocean and your car was rusting, you could say that you don’t want to do anything, because you want to keep your car ‘natural’ and you can watch it rust away. Get the message?

I Want to Remove All Transplanted Hairs by Laser

Hi,

I had transplants which were placed in an erratic fashion and running counter to one another. Now that my normal hair is disappearing this leaves a noticeable effect. These people were in my opinion very unprofessional.

I am resigned to baldness but I would like it to be normal and something I dont need to think about every day I see my hair in the mirror. I would be so eternally grateful to you if you could guide me to someone who can remove the transplanted hairs via laser while not disturbing the normal hair. I imagine this would require the use of some magnifying glass to distinguish exactly the transplants (easily noticeable once washed and blow dried) and a single hair laser remover.

This may take some time but I am willing to pay the appropriate charge and to travel. I would also like to have the scar from the back of my neck reduced to a fine line by excision and treatment.

I am going into baldness but I would like to do so with my dignity intact and not the way I am now. Whatever you can do to help me, I will forever be in your gratitude.

I have had a number of patients that just want to be bald. I couldn’t say what your personal options are, as every case is different. Electrolysis, for example, has a 50% failure rate per hair and the use of pinpoint lasers are generally not effective here either. Surgery works, but I would have to examine you to see just what has to be done. Extracting one follicle at a time may work, provided that you are not badly scarred in the transplanted area, but even then, fixing the scarring at the back of your head is something we do often.

I Want to Start Finasteride (I’m 22) and Am Worried About My Beard Growth

My colleague Dr. Robert Bernstein states: “As you suggest, it would be reasonable to assume that since DHT stimulates beard growth, blocking DHT (with finasteride) would tend to inhibit its growth. In practice, this does not seem to be the case, i.e. we don’t find that Propecia has any effect on facial hair. The reason is not clear.”

I have not seen this complaint in young men either, just as stated by Dr. Bernstein.

I want to stop finasteride, should I tape it off?

If you are going to stop it, then stop it when the decision is made. Tapering it off, will give your finasteride dependent hair more time to hold, but the inevitable will happen if the hair is finasteride dependent.

I Want to Stop Rogaine After Using it for 15 Years

Doctor,

Taking propecia for a few months, but have also been taking Rogaine for 15 years. However the last 10 years I’ve only been applying it once a day. Would like to use propecia alone. How minoxidil dependent if at all do you think my hair is with just once a day application for so many years. Should I expect shedding if I discontinue?

Thanks

I have no way to tell what you should expect, as everybody is different. The other day a young man (32 years old) came to see me who started Rogaine 10 years earlier and just stopped it 9 months ago, losing most of the benefit with overt balding showing. He went back on it 3 months later and got no benefit from it. There’s just one example.

If you want to stop Rogaine do it slowly over the course of several months. You already apply it once a day (rather than the recommended twice a day regimen). Over the course of several months, maybe try every other day? Also it is worth noting that Propecia won’t retain the benefits you had from Rogaine, and vice versa.

I Want to Stop Propecia After My Hair Transplant

Hi,

I’m due to get a transplant in a couple of months and have been on Propecia for around 2 years (I’m 26 years old). For the last 6 months or so I’ve noticed side effects that are getting worse, even after cutting the dosage down. I plan to stop taking finestaride after surgery, but will keep on it for now to help prevent shock loss. How long after the surgery do you need to take finestaride for to help prevent possible shock loss?

Thanks for your help

You should take the drug for a full 6 months (minimum) after a hair transplant and then after stopping it, watch as the hair gain (or retention) you saw from Propecia will be lost over a few months.

I Want to Stop My Finasteride After My Hair Transplant!

I’ve taken fin for 4 years, thinking about getting a hair transplant soon.

But lately I’ve noticed some sexual side effects and am thinking about getting off it. Would it be possible to quit after the transplant or would that make my hair look really bad?

Hair loss is progressive, and you must continue taking the finasteride to slow down the progression of the genetic balding that caused the hair loss in the first place, that is, unless you are having side effects.
