I’m 25 and Losing Hair. I Can’t Decide If I Should Take Finasteride Now

I’m nearly 25 and my hair is slowly getting worse I want to start finasteride but not sure if its wise to delay it Some of the reasons why I’m thinking of delaying. 1 potential side effects / permentant change in hormonal profile 2 possibility of hair getting worse 3 long term cost. At the same time I want to start to keep what I have

If you take finasteride and, worst case, get side effects of any sort, you can stop the medication. In my fairly extensive experience I have never seen permanent side effects that don’t go away with stopping it.

I’m 26, Norwood Class 3V and want to try a Hair System

I tell men that if they get a hair system when they are young, the hair system attachments (glues, clips, etc..) cause loss of the hair on your scalp and you become more bald and more dependent upon the hair system. Hair transplants can solve the problem but the balder you get, the higher the costs so keep that in mind.

I’m 30 and now losing a lot of hair

It sounds like you’re way better off than me. I’m 31 and I’m pretty much a diffuse NW5 right now, and exactly 1 year ago I was pretty much a NW2 with some diffuse. I had massive hair loss over the course of one year. The amount of hairs I was losing every day when I had my hair super long were in the several hundreds. If you’re only losing a hair or two when you run your hands, or only 10 or so hairs in the shower, you should be okay. You can try to look into a LLLT helmet, I bought one back in November and have been using it pretty much all the time. Not sure how much it’s really helping my case because I’m in shit at this point, but for your situation it may be perfect.

Find out if you are really losing hair with a HAIRCHECK test ( https://baldingblog.com/haircheck-test-how-it-is-done-and-what-its-value/ ) and the build a Master Plan with a good doctor who cares about you, not your money.

I’m 27 and have hairline recession, will minoxidil work?

You seem to have significant recession. I doubt that minoxidil will work but used with microneedling it might. Get a good doctor who will build a Personalized Master Plan for your hair loss with you. A hair transplant is a sure option worth considering

I’m 26 and I have stress and hair loss

You should see a good doctor who cares about you, not just your money. Your doctor should develop a Master Plan for you, not just for now, but down the road as hair loss is a progressive process in men. Researching transplants is a good idea as you may find out that hair transplants are the only permanent solution for hair loss.

I’m 27 with possible receding hairline, when do I start treatment?

I’m 27 with a mildly receding hairline. When do I start with preservation or treatment of what I have.

See a good doctor who can build a Personalized Master Plan and perform a HAIRCHECK test (https://baldingblog.com/haircheck-test-how-it-is-done-video/) to find out when and if you need to start treating your hair loss. A good doctor will work with the plan you derive and by following the plan you can keep your hair throughout your lifetime and never go bald. The key is to make a definitive diagnosis before you start any treatments and it’s all about peace of mind.

I’m 29 and I Think I Have ED?

I am a late 20’s male and I had a question regarding some finasteride side effects.

I was on minoxidil foam for about 6 months, but because of the shedding not stopping and seeing drastic hair loss during the last 2 months, I decided to bite the bullet and try finasteride 1mg. I’ve been on it for about a month and I think I am definitely starting to feel the side effect of erectile dysfunction.

Let me preface this by saying that I’ve never been someone who could have sex 4-5 times in a night or even felt the need or urge to masturbate once a day. I’ve also experienced occasional (once every 10-20 times) instances of not being able to stay hard during intercourse. However, the struggle recently has been something that is definitely noticeable and significant. I recently started dating someone in the last few weeks and I’ve already ran into issues of erectile dysfunction multiple times, which is a lot more frequent than ever before. However, the most alarming issue is during masturbation. I’ve NEVER struggled to stay erect during masturbation, but after starting finasteride, I’ve noticed that I am struggling to even get erect and stay erect for more than a minute. In regards to sexual intercourse, luckily I’ve had some viagra that I acquired a long time ago and I’ve used that a few times to combat this issue, but I don’t see that as a permanent solution.

Has anyone experienced something similar to this before? If you did, did you just stop or continue to take finasteride to see if it will pass?

From what I’ve read, it seems like most of you all have had little or no side effects from taking finasteride 1mg daily so I wanted to see if any of you are avoiding finasteride and finding success.

Your story is not uncommon. You probably have sexual side effects from finasteride. You might try reducing it to one pill every 4 days for 3 weeks. If the ED goes away, increase it to 1 pill every 3 days, and after another 3 weeks, one pill every two days and stay there if there is no ED. Half the dose is 80% as effective on hair as a full dose. Just a suggestion.

I’m 30 Years Old and Not Much of a Beard — Could Finasteride Slow My Facial Hair Development?

Dear doctor, I am 30 years old and development of my secondary sex characteristics was always far behind persons of same age. My beard is still not fully developed, I have hairs around my chin and under nose, but almost nothing on cheeks and around ears. I have first noticed starting hairloss about the age of 28 and I started with finasteride treatment. Could this drug affect my beard developing and slow down this process yet more?

Finasteride does not affect beard hair. I wouldn’t expect you to finally start growing a beard at 30 years old (with or without finasteride). Some men just have patchy facial hair, and that is your genetics.

You can consider doing a hair transplant to your face where the beard is not present if it’s bothering you that much.

I’m 35, can I stop taking finasteride?

If most hair loss occurs by 35 and then pretty much stabilises does that mean we can stop taking fin after 35?

Hair loss is progressive. If you are stable on finasteride, stop it, and you might find instant hair loss to a pattern that you should have had if you didn’t take finasteride. I call this “Catch-up Hair Loss,” which means that you lose all of the benefits plus what you fixed by going on the drug. Catch-up Hair Loss always occurs in men on long-term finasteride. This is a warning for you: don’t do something that you might regret, as so many people I have taken care of told me when they decided to stop taking finasteride.

Clearly some value has been achieved. I would add finasteride to the routine as that would add a different mechanism for reversing the hair loss. A boarder approach is often more effective.
