ok, so 3 years ago I lost a large patch of hair from my chin, over the next 2 months it grew back stark white. I had to dye it with “justformen” for a year, finally it has began to grow in black. I feel this occurred form stress. is there a name for a condition such as this?

This is the first time I’ve heard of a case like this, so unfortunately I don’t have any experience to base any conclusions. Discuss this with your dermatologist.

This is a 60 year old male who is a patient of mine who I had not seen for 5 years. Over the past 5 years, his neck hair has significantly reduced as shown in the attached photo. I have told most of my patients to never harvest neck hair for two reasons: (1) it does not last their lifetime compared to regular scalp hair and (2) it leaves terrible scars. Hair loss has nothing to do with nutrition and this man proves it.

Weight loss doesn’t mean starvation. This man likely had achieved a good balance with fewer calories than he usually took and kept good nutrition. It is wrong to think that because this man didn’t lose his hair, others may not have been well managed during the weight loss routine. Also, this man most likely didn’t have the genes for genetic alopecia, which might have precipitated hair loss.

This is highly unusual. I have seen a few cases where transplanted hair was lost from the second hair transplant, but it always came back within 6-8 months of the surgery. Speak with your surgeon and have your donor area evaluated to make sure that the donor area remains normal and not miniaturized.

This is the classic nocebo effect. However, finasteride does reduce DHT which is the boner hormone, so don’t be too surprised if your dong isn’t 100%. This effect is real as it can impact the physiology of the body, showing you how powerful the mind actually is.
