6 weeks minoxidil, finasteride and microneedling

I am 37 years old and had this balding for 10 years. I started using 1 mg PO finasteride daily 1 ml topical minoxidil twice daily 1 biotin vitamin daily, Saw palmetto shampoo, plus 0.5 mm micro needling at home 2-3 times per week.

I would increase the microneedling needles to 1.25mm and reduce the treatments to once a week. That depth gets to the stem cells that control the growth of the follicles to react to the wounds. You also might consider switching to oral minoxidil. Speak with your doctor. The photos suggest that the stem cells are still there and alive, so push the depth of the microneedling t where the stem cell reside.

6 weeks oral minoxidil and finasteride

Amazing response in just 6 weeks from oral minoxidil and oral finasteride. I expect that in 6 months, you might have your hair back. It would have been nice to see more pictures of you from different angles.

Is 600 grafts enough for a normal hair density?

A hair transplant in one session is never normal hair density for the size of the area you are transplanting. You can see it by looking at the lack of density of the grafts, but in your case, the area covered could have had more grafts. I don’t like the line-up of the hairs that were transplanted as they should have been more randomly placed. Your grafts were placed far too orderly for me but another hair transplant with more random placement of the grafts will solve this problem and give you more density. If this is the way your doctor does his transplants, I would look for another doctor.

68 Year Old Woman Lost Her Eyebrows — Is It Medication Related?

I have been taking Pradaxa for over a year-I also take metoporol & digoxin. I always had plenty of hair & my eyebrows were almost perfect naturally.about 6 months ago my eyebrows have disappeared almost completely & my hairline is receeding-could these meds be causing this??? Thank you! I am a 68 year old female & would like my eyebrows & hair!

metoprololWomen lose hair just like men, but in different patterns and stages. Women don’t go bald like men, but they thin out later in life. This can also be genetic as well. For women, there may be other medical issues such as thyroid conditions. There’s a list of possible causes here.

In general, medications can be the cause of hair loss. Pradaxa (dabigatran) and Lanoxin (digoxin) aren’t known to cause hair loss as far as I can find, but metoprolol (marketed as Toprol or Lopressor) does have hair loss listed as a rare side effect. More importantly, these medications are taken for serious health issues, so they should not be stopped or changed without a serious discussion with the doctor.

Many women lose their eyebrows and this can be genetic as well (as do men). A hair transplant procedure is a good option for those who want eyebrow restoration.

I had over 6000 FUE grafts taken from my donor area, will it regrow?

Donor hair that is taken never regrows as it is lost forever. More than 6000 FUE grafts is a very large number of grafts which suggests that your donor area might be depleted and you will have a thin look in the back of your head.

6100 grafts in Turkey

My comments are as follows:

  1. He has a risk of developing necrosis on the scalp recipient and donor areas. The look immediately after surgery doesn’t tell much about what it will look like in just a few days.
  2. This man almost certainly will have balding on the side and back of his head at the donor area in most men will not support 6100 grafts and leave enough hair for coverage purposes.
  3. I wonder how many of these grafts will actually grow

Somehow, either the Black Market folks who did this surgery or the patient thought that these large numbers of grafts would create a great head of hair. I would be surprised if it did.

64 Year Old Female and Just Got Well After Severe Sickness and Lost Easily 50% of My Hair.

Telogen Effluvium is the medical term for acute hair loss that sometimes returns. The return reflects the hair cycle for most women of your age, which is relatively shorter than when you were younger. 50% of postmenopausal women have genetic hair loss from the mother’s side of their family. If it does not reverse in a year, consider a cosmetic solution that is often performed in postmenopausal women who have hair loss called Scalp Micropigmentation. Stress can induce genetic hair loss in women of your age which may not be reversible. (see: https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/smp-for-women/)
