72 year old surfer, still surfing and he has HAIR (Photo)

Donald had his hair transplant 25 years ago and came to see me today. He volunteered to tell his hair loss history before the hair transplant and here it is!

“I started losing my hair it in9 my early 30s. Being as vain as I am I started looking for answers. The first thing I tried was this electrical comb that smelled weird and purple gas came out of it and they would rub it over my head every week with no results. Of course I was taking vitamins (supposedly) and minerals that were promoted to grow your hair back. There were even hair shampoos that was supposed to grow your hair back etc. I heard that Germany had top technology on hair transplant so I went to Germany. Everything I saw was insufficient and look like dolls hair (that was hair transplants). Then I heard about about a cure in Morocco, so I went there for some sort of cobra venom shots that grew hair so, but eventually I gave up. Until luckily I saw an ad Dr. Rassman had on TV. He was taking one follicle at a time and replacing it on your areas of baldness. Result was natural from day one. And I now have a full head of growing hair.”

Had Donald not hair a hair transplant, he would have a Class 7 balding pattern. The last picture shown is an old photo he brought to the office today taken 10 years before had a hair transplant. To make it look as thick as it does today, we did Scalp Micropigmentation a few months ago. This is something that many men should consider if their hair transplant is not thick enough.

8 Months After Surgery, I’m Seeing Some of the New Hairs Falling Out

Greetings doctor,

I am 23 years old and I had a HT just over 8 months ago. I started thinning about 4 years ago at my temples, Going bald at such a young age made me very self conscious so I just had to do something about it.

I got 1200 grafts transplanted into my right and left temple areas. over the next few months some but not all of the grafts began to shed and I also experienced some ‘shock loss’ which is all normal I know. some of the grafts however stayed in place and continued growing.

I’m on my 8 month now and some of the grafts that stayed in place and grown all this time started falling out!! which got me very worried. there are also some bald patches on my temples where grafts got transplanted that haven’t shown any sign that they are growing yet.

Should I be concerned about any of this? I mean at 8 months I should start seeing the majority of the hairs coming out right? the only reason I can think of for this is that the grafts are just simply taking longer than usual to come out. I don’t however have any explanation for the transplanted hairs falling out after 8 months..

Please can you let know so I can set my mind at ease..

I cannot say what is going on without examining you in person. How would you know if the hairs you are losing are the transplanted hairs or native hairs? Or maybe transplanted hairs (like regular non-balding hairs) are going through their natural hair cycle of shedding before regrowing. I really cannot say.

At 8 months, you should see growth of the transplanted hair. You should definitely make an appointment with your surgeon to discuss what is happening and get a more definitive answer.

7 Months on finasteride and minoxidil (photo)

Great results from finasteride and minoxidil in a 31 y/o male in just 7 months. I was asked yesterday if balding can be reversed, you have answered the question, at least for now.

This is a very nice reversal of frontal corner recession with dutasteride. He may have had the same result on finasteride.
