Will Propecia Ruin My Chances of Using Stem Cells In the Future for Hair Loss Treatment? – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

Hi Dr!

I am 21 years old and I am struggling with hair loss. I spent a lot of money on laser treatment, but it is now a year later and my hair is back to looking terrible! should i begin propecia? if a cure for baldness ever comes along with propecia ruin my chances of using it? (stem cell) thanks! i need help bad!

(I am also afraid of the side effect of propecia)

The simple answer to your question is probably no! The medication (Propecia) is gone from your blood stream in a day or two and probably out of your body in under a week or so. If you are genetically balding and take Propecia and experience side effects, you can stop the medication and the side effects will go away.

Do You Think Hair Transplantation will Become a Defunct Practice? – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

Doctor Rassman,

Do you believe that hair transplantation will ever become a defunct practice (due to a cure or a commercially viable alternative)? Do you believe this will happen in YOUR lifetime?

If there is a medical cure for balding (medicine, cloning, etc), I think I would become a very rich man. After all, who else is better equipped to treat balding than the doctors who are already in the practice? I should hope that there will be a cure in my lifetime!

Hair Loss InformationWhen Will Hair Cloning Be Perfected? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Dr. Rassman,

I know that you have replied to a few posts in relation to hair cloning about timeline etc. My question isn’t about when the procedure will be available, but when you think the procedure will be perfected.

In other words, when do you think that a man suffering from extensive baldness (with hair available for cloning at the back and sides) will be able to walk into a clinic and have his hair cloned so that he can have a full head of hair that looks completely natural?

I really have no way to tell how long something like this actually will take to be perfected (nor would anyone know precisely how long it would take to perfect hair cloning), but my guess is ten to twenty years.

Growing a Heart from Stem Cells – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

British scientists have just grown a heart valve from stem cells. Sir Magdi Yacoub, who led the team involved with the project, guesses that an entire heart may be grown using this technology in 10 years. Do you think that this advance will speed the process of hair cloning/multiplication any?

Block Quote

HeartI am aware that stem cells can grow organs. Hair is an organ so if you can grow a heart, then one should be able to grow hair from stem cells. There are clinical trials presently underway that show stem cell placed in the heart, will grow heart cells.

Hair Loss InformationThe Great Hair Cloning Conspiracy? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

I find it very hard to believe that someone has not found a way to grow back hair consistently on a persons head. Hell, we can clone a human, but not regrow some hair? I am thinking that there is too much money to be made with all the bogus pills and lotions, not to mention the expensive transplants and “wigs”. The solution is probably too simple and inexpensive, so it has been shelved by the powers that be…just a thought….

Pot of goldMaybe a little research on your part and we can get rich together. Please, when you find the solution, I would love to participate with you on building an industry here.

Hair multiplication has been successfully done in animals and also in human volunteers. Some researchers have succeeded in making two hairs out of one, but the two hairs have less value than the one that it came from. It still needs to go through additional research to make two be better than one. Hair cloning also has been successfully done, but it has been inconsistent, non-commercial and certainly not for human use at this time. Just be patient and we all should know the result of the research in less than 10 years one way or another (at least that is what is being projected for a solution timeline).

Hair Loss InformationSo When Should We Invest in Intercytex Stock? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

If in fact intercytex is only a few years away from a permanent fix for baldness, when is a good time for us bald guys to invest in their stock so we can not only get hair but also make a absolute killing on the stock market ?

Good question and I wish I knew the answer. This company has many good products and appears to be a good investment on their main line offerings. Be sure to check them out properly. If you believe that the company will live or die on cloning hair, don’t hold your breath.

One More Time – When’s The Balding Cure Coming, Doc? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Dr. Rassman,

I am sure you answered this question before but I bet people wouldnt mind to hear the answer again. With your expert opinion how long do you think it will take to have a cure for baldness. Atleast the hair cloning part. Everything I read says 5 years for technology and 10 yrs to perfect it. With the pace of my hairloss, I have a max of 2 yrs after which covering up won’t work.

Thanks

I am sure that they will rush to develop the cure or the cloning now that they know you only have two years left. My opinion runs better than 10 years before it is available, and another 10 years to actually perfect it. Let’s see who is right.

Hair Loss InformationOvercoming Hair Cloning Obstacles – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Hello

As far as I understand the three main obstacles with hair cloning are:

1) unpredictable direction of growth
2) unpredictable density
3) unpredictable quality

Cant all these problems be solved by first injecting the multiplied cells to a different part of your body (for instance the back of you upper leg), wait for the hair to grow out (in a wild unpredictable pattern), and finally transplanting the new hair esthetically to your scalp like you perform an ordinary transplant surgery?

Block Quote

It is not that simple. I was told that the mice that had it done as you suggested (in the late 1980s), had died from overwhelming infection. I wish I could track down a published source to back that up. The answer is far more complex, but this is not the place to write a book on the subject.

Would Hair Multiplication Work After an Existing Hair Transplant? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Hello,
If hair multiplication becomes reality one day, can it still be performed on hair where strip transplantation has been done before? Thanks. Regards !

The way the research is going, hair follicular units that have intact stem cells will be taken out of the scalp from the permanent zone. One hair will make many hairs and therefore, as long as you have some donor hair left, hair multiplication, when it is available, will be able to be done on people who had previous hair transplants. Just don’t hold your breath for the technology to come about anytime soon.
