I don’t know what it means for the viability of hair regeneration, but they are proud to announce they’re getting patents on their technology.

Will Cloning or a New Drug Be the Next Treatment for Hair Loss? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Hello Dr

Are there or have you heard of any new potential treatments for hair loss that we might likely see in the next 5 years or so? There doesn’t really seem to be anything new since the discovery of propecia and that was some time ago. In your opinion will it be hair cloning or some form of drug if there is anything on the horizon

Block Quote

There is a lot of activity with clinical trials going on, but we are not privy to them. We, like you, wait to see which treatments rise to the top. I couldn’t say whether cloning or a new drug will be first to rise, though. It all depends on the ongoing research and development.

Can You Explain the RepliCel Phase 1 Before and After Photos? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

dear doctor

i have heard about the news of replicel. i searched their website and found something weird. In their paper, there are two photos in the first page, but i cannot see any change in hair density as they claim. Can you explain it to me? thanks

I do not know much about this, but based on what you linked to, it looks like they are proposing to test 108 men in phase 2 (it does not seem like this has been done). As they word it, it is “anticipated that implanted cells will migrate to damaged or dormant follicles and help rejuvenate them“. They do not mention the science. They seem to stress the monetary dollar amount of the hair loss market (more so than the science), so they are likely looking for investors.

Finally, I do not see much hair density in the photo myself, at least not visibly/cosmetically. Perhaps someone else more informed about RepliCel can provide more.

Whatever Happened to Dr Cooley’s Auto-Cloning Procedures? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Hey Guys,

I was reading something on Dr. Jerry Cooley and him already doing the auto cloning procedures and that it takes better when implanted in areas of already implanted sites. I think I remember a few years ago that you guys were starting to test this. Are you guys doing this now? I would love to thicken out my front of my head without taking anymore from the back of my head since I’ve had 5 surgeries already. Thanks.

To put it in a politically correct way, the claim could not be validated by us and it did not work in our hands. Many prominent doctors/peers and medical clinics tried to replicate the research and method, and it does not hold up to the claims. If he is still promoting it, then I would ask him personally.

Aderans Research Institute’s Presentation from Stem Cell Meeting on the Mesa – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

hello dr
what do you think about this video: YouTube

Block Quote

This is Aderans Research Institute’s presentation from Stem Cell Meeting on the Mesa (a stem cell conference) about a method of cellular hair regeneration that they’re calling Ji Gami. It was posted a few days ago, but the audio is extremely low and it is difficult to hear, so I’m not going to be able to comment on the actual content of the video. I’m just posting this for those that might have better speakers and some interest in their research.

I’ve embedded the video here:

Is Hair Cloning Advancing At All? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Doc

Do you think we will ever see a day when someone with complete male pattern baldness (I.e. Horse shoe shaped) will be able to get a full head of hair? It seems like hair cloning has fallen off the radar. Is anyone/company still pursuing this? Do doctors and researchers still believe that we will be able to make it work? Will we see a solution in the near future? If so how long? There must be industry discussions and gossip about where we are with it. It seems like we have been waiting for ages

Block Quote

There are private companies that are still working on hair cloning. It has not fallen off the radar, but the progress has been slow. I can’t put a timeline on when it’ll be a reality available to the public, but I hope it will be available within my lifetime.

Are We Any Closer to Finding the Holy Grail (Hair Cloning)? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Hello Doc
I first discovered your blog in 2006 when I began to notice my hair was thinning. I was very interested in the ‘holy grail’ that was the potential if hair cloning/multiplication. Six years have passed and it doesn’t seem we are any closer. Are we any closer? There must be discussion between you and other doctors of whether it will eventually become a reality. Do you still believe we will see this solution ? If so how long do you honestly think it will be before it becomes a quality solution to balding? Also are there any other drugs/solutions in the pipeline. Thanks

I believe we are closer… but there is nothing in the “pipeline” that I am aware of for a short term answer. There is ongoing research and scientists are working on hair loss / cloning / multiplication. We are all still waiting.

Is Aderans Completing Phase 2? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

hello dr
i think Aderans is very close to complete phase 2 and begin with the last phase which is phase 3

this is the link: Aderans Research Reaches Major Milestone in Phase 2 Clinical Study Enrollment

Block Quote

From the release — “Aderans Research reached a major milestone this month with the completion of enrollment in one of its key Phase 2 clinical protocols.

I don’t know that they’re all that close to completing phase 2, based on the info in this press release. It says they’ve completed enrolling participants for phase 2, which sounds like it could still be pretty early in the phase.

What Do the New RepliCel Results Mean in Layman’s Terms? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Dear Dr. Rassman,

Replicel results are in! But I couldn’t understand, given the presented statistical data, if there are any reasons to be excited. Not that I’m mathematically crippled or anything, but because I’m not sure what a 12.3% change in vellus hair density would mean to a consumer like me, who is concerned more with adjectives like “bleh, ok, good and awesome”.

Care to share your thoughts for us laymen? Link is:

RepliCel Releases Positive Results from the Interim Analysis of Data from its First-in-man TS001-2009 Clinical Trial

Thanks

Block Quote

In layman’s terms, I do not know exactly what 12.3% change in vellus hair really means either, but I think that it is safe to say that this is not an awesome result. I would like to know if there were noticeable cosmetic differences in appearance and knowing that the vellus hairs do not contribute much to the fullness of your hair, I would think that any impact would be best described as “ehhh”.

Press Release – RepliCel Reveals Updated Early Trial Results – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Snippet from the press release:

RepliCel Life Sciences Inc. is pleased to report that further analysis of results from its successful first-in-man clinical trial revealed substantial hair growth including seven participants with growth in excess of 10%, including 17.2%, 19.2% and 19.6%. Furthermore, there were no negative health effects.

“The RepliCel TS001-2009 trial was a first-in-man trial with a primary endpoint of safety and this was confirmed emphatically,” stated Dr. Rolf Hoffmann, Chief Medical Officer at RepliCel. “Even though the size of the trial was only powered for safety measures, secondary endpoints were included in interim analysis to give us an early look at efficacy to allow us to better drive the design of the next steps of the clinical development of the RepliCel(TM) procedure,” Dr. Hoffmann concluded.
