Pantogar and Female Hair Loss – Balding Blog

I am a 22 year old woman living in essex i have a problem with hair loss wich worries me alot i have long hair but now my hair has gone weak and unhealthy and i would like to know ways in which i can do to prevent the hair loss because i know its not normal in women of this age. im takin ‘pantogar’ which is a hair loss treatment but i dont know if its good enough. if theres another solution other than transplantation please let me know. thankyou i will be waiting for your reply

Pantogar is a homeopathic, nutritional supplement which is promoted for hair and nail problems. It is claimed to be used in the treatment of early hair loss, but there is no proven science for this supplement to show how it may work, or that it is worthwhile and valuable.

The diagnosis of female hair loss requires a close examination, something that can not be done over this distance. Unlike men, a woman’s hair loss situation is not easy to diagnose and treat. You need to see a doctor who specializes in female hair loss near your home. Try using the physician search at ISHRS.org and HairTransplantNetwork.com. Sorry, but there is not much else I can offer you over the internet.

Bleached Hair at 16 and It Has Never Been the Same – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

(female) I am losing my hair and have been since I was 16 I am 22 now and I dont see any improvement in the matter. I bleached my hair at 16 and while the bleach was in my hair I was reading the package and noticed that it said for salon use only. I ran to the sink to wash it out and as the bleach came out handfuls of hairs did too. Being a 16 year old girl I ran to my hairdresser and she said no they probably werent falling out just breaking off. But through the years they have never came back. This has a major effect on my life, my marriage, and any activities that I do. I think about it all of the time and I dont know what to do. If you have any suggestions as of shampoos, surgerys anything… I am willing to do anything to get my hair back as well as my confidence in myself and my life. Thank you

It sounds like you may have chemically damaged your hair and considering the time you have seen no benefit, I doubt that the hair will return to your original 16 year old quality. The treatment of your hair today will have to be with conventional cosmetics, conditioners, and gels that thicken the hair shafts. You will probably be better of as a blonde (assuming you are Caucasian). At this time, there are no proven medications that I know if which you can take to change your hair character.

Hair Loss InformationEcrinal – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

I started to loose some hair. I decided to buy some shampoo against hairloss and i found one at the pharmacies called ecrinal. On the box it says that it contains ingredients of lipidic nature that come from a gland located at the base of horses’ mane…tricholopids and A.N.P. So i’m wondering if this shampoo may actually be effective?
Thanks.

Mister EdFirstly, please see my previous post about Mane-Tail-Groom. There appears to be considerable support for this product in Europe. But that product is for horses and some humans use it on themselves — what you’re asking about is a shampoo for men and women that has an extract from a horse mane, right?

Dr. Pak first reviewed your question and in researching it, it was obvious that he knew nothing about this family of products and he wrote: I do not know of any “tricholopids” or “A.N.P.” (I don’t even know what that stands for). Furthermore, I am not a veterinarian and don’t know what relevance a horse’s mane has to do with human hair growth. I am curious what would make a horse’s mane better than that of a lion, perhaps? Or what about a hairy monkey? More importantly, how did they get these “glands”? How many horses’ glands were sacrificed for the sake of hair? I wonder what Pamela Anderson would say as the spoke person for PETA.

I think Dr. Pak has a humorous writing style, so I thought I’d try get a smile from you by posting his response. The serious answer to your question is — I have no idea.

Eyebrow Conditioner Caused My Eyebrows to Fall Out – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

Hi, I’m 22/M and have had thinning eyebrows for the past 6 months. I used a product called Brow Boost “conditioner” from Billiondollarbrows.com that was suppose to thicken eyebrows and promote new growth. After using the product for a week I was seeing new hairs growing in and old hairs getting thicker. Then on day 8 my eyebrows started to fall out. I discontinued use of the product 3 days ago and I’m still loosing eyebrow hair and eyelashes as well. The manufacturer gave me no help they could only say that “its extremely rare to loose your eyebrows using our product”. Can you please give me some advice, short term and long term? How long am I going to keep loosing my eyebrows for?

Conditioners usually have one or some of the following ingredients: moisturizers, reconstructors, acidifiers, thermal protectors, glossers and/or oils. Some of these will add small molecules to the hair shafts. I don’t know what the contents of the conditioner you used on your eyebrows are, but they shouldn’t cause any permanent damage to hair. It is difficult to say whether you are losing hair due to this new conditioner or this is only prolongation of your baseline loss. If any doubt, stop the product and hopefully your eyebrows will grow back in a few months. A series of autoimmune and genetic causes may be responsible for loss of eyebrows. If your eyebrow doesn’t grow back in 8-12 months, you can consult a hair transplant surgeon. Hair transplantation works nicely on eyebrows, but it has the disadvantage of growing longer than the normal eyebrow hair (since it is moved from the back of the scalp) and the hair must be cut every few days.

Hair Loss InformationSalve of the Comfrey Root Stopped My Hair Loss and Regrew My Hairline! – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Hi,
I’ve been using a salve of the comfrey root and its flowers on my head for the last four years, it has stopped my hair loss and has regrown hair in my residing hairline. I did this experiment on myself based on the fact that comfrey contains a chemical compound called allantoin which is a cell rejuvenator. My barber will testify.

This appears to be a product with extensive claims that run the gamut — gum disease, hair care, hair damage, hair growth, hair loss, halitosis — and have no basis. If you believe in this product, I would suggest that the readers take notice of my slogan. Let the buyer beware.

There is generally interesting information about comfrey root, its history and much about its growth and use at Wikipedia. Many, many herbs are used for various conditions and when they work for one of these conditions, the person becomes an advocate. This type of advocacy is not scientific. We only know the successes and not the frequency of failures, because advocates do not talk about the failures. For the advocate, it may reflect their pride of authorship and an individual’s need to contribute to the welfare of fellow human beings, but as a clinician, if I recommend something (even an herbal type of product like comfrey root) I want to have evidence of its effectiveness and its safety.

Hair Loss InformationAdenogen – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Hi,
I am just wondering if you have heard of Adenogen, a hairloss product by Shiseido, one of the biggest cosmetic company in Japan. What are you thoughts on it? Do you think it is likely to work?
thanks

Here’s yet another product that costs quite a bit ($85) for a 5 oz supply and is claimed to be a “quasi drug” for some possible benefits of treating hair loss. My guess is that for that kind of money, I would think that it better work. I did find this forum topic on HairLossHelp.com that discusses Adenogen, if that helps any.

Anyone out there that has tried this product, please feel free to comment or let me know via the Contact page.

Any Comments on False Research Findings? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Interesting article report!

Dear Doc, please take a look at this article and comment the content.

Block Quote

This is a very interesting article. I tend to remain skeptical and I am dubious of research that is poorly executed. Unfortunately, we have a tendency to want to believe certain things, and such desires will impact our own objectivity. For example, there are many lotions and potions in the marketplace that claim the ability to reverse or treat hair loss. Many of them use poorly designed research to push a commercial agenda and many hair loss sufferers want to believe that herbal and naturopathic medications can address their hair loss agenda. The research that I have reviewed since starting this blog is overwhelming and the findings of many of these products are in fact, unsubstantiated and false. This article may be of interest to some of our readers, so I did put it into the blog as a way of sharing it with my readership.

Lead Acetate in Hair Dye – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

I have been utilising a progressive hair colouring agent to gradually eliminate my grey. The product contains lead acetate would this chemical result in hair loss. I am 40 years old, male, and just today noticed a tiny bald spot on my crown. I have been using the colouring product for only 4 months and worry it has resulted in permanent hair loss.

Block Quote

I would imagine that the use of lead acetate must be safe in the products that use it or there would be a real problem considering its use in many of the hair dyes. I can not comfortably comment on this query. I did find this article from a year ago about lead acetate in hair dyes being banned in Canada — CosmeticMagazine.com.

Reader Response to Using Rogaine Foam – Balding Blog

A reader wrote in with a quick review of his experience using the Rogaine Foam, and I thought it was worthwhile to post for those that are still looking into trying this newly released product…

It’s easily available now without a prescription and the foam does have some advantages. It doesn’t run, so it’s easier to apply. And it contains no propylene glycol as does the Rogaine XS solution. However, I have some reservations about its use. The beneficial actions of topical minoxidil are dose related and the Rogaine foam is only a 5% compound. The foam by its sheer volume deposits a large amount of each application on the hair shafts, where it cannot be absorbed and remains ineffectual.

Out of curiosity, I recently bought a bottle of Rogaine foam ($29.99). It seems to be more inconvenient to use than the Rogaine XS solution. Unless your hands are cold, the foam will immediately liquefy. You should also be aware of the fact that the foam contains both butane, isobutane and propane, so it is highly flammable. But, if the Rogaine Foam fits your needs, this might be a good alternative product for topical minoxidil use.

These are the inactive ingredients listed for the Rogaine Foam: butane, butylated hydroxytoluene, cetyl alcohol, citric acid, fragrance, glycerin, isobutane, lactic acid, polysorbate 60, propane, purified water, SD alcohol 40B, stearyl alcohol. See product warnings.

Follicare and Propecia – Balding Blog

Is it ok to take propecia and follicare together, since there is a vitamin you take when using follicare

I have reviewed the “supplement” listed at the Follicare website for ingredients. I can say, right off, that they seem to have put everything but the kitchen sink into the product. I do not believe it will be harmful if taken with Propecia.
