I Want a Hairline Like Actor Jamie Foxx – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

Hello Doc,

I was gonna ask you if you all could make my hairline like Jamie Foxx and if so about how much will it cost and can you all do as good a job as his surgeon did, assuming that he did have hair transplantaion surgery done to his hair line? Also how do i get in touch with you all?

Jamie FoxxIt might be worth noting that there is debate on the internet (yes, it’s gossip) about whether Jamie Foxx’s hairline is his actual hair, or just a spray-on look. We’ve even discussed it before.

Yes, I can make such a hairline, but it would depend upon how bald you are. If I am to assume that you have an African hairline, then you should know that hair densities are generally lower in African hair (Caucasians have 2.1 hairs per mm square, Asians have 1.7 hairs per mm square and Africans have 1.3 hairs per mm square). I would be that Jamie Foxx has much better densities than other African males. The issue of producing such a perfect hairline reflect issues of supply and demand. If you have only frontal recession and it is limited, yes I would love to give you Jamie Foxx’s hairline if that is your desire. It will take more than one procedure. Cost estimates must be done in person after I examine you. You can call for an appointment to see me at 800-NEW-HAIR.

Hair Loss InformationRemoved My Hairline with Laser Removal, Now I Want to Cover the Scars – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Hi Dr. Rassman…..I have a bit of a problem and I’d like your advice. I recieved two hair transplants in the 90’s and wound up with a low hairline. I’m 32 years old and a natural norwood 3/4. I just recently removed my hairline via laser hair removal. I’m now dealing with the underlying skin which is scarred. It’s not terrible but I’m very self conscious. I’ve decided on another hair transplant. I’d like to bring the hairline down to where it was to cover any scars. I’m thinking low density with good coverage. My doc estimates that I have about 4000 donor grafts left. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

It is difficult without pictures or seeing you in person to render an opinion that has real value to you. You can excise the frontal scarred hairline (done frequently) and then have those grafts transplanted with a normal soft transition zone of 1, 2, and 3 hair units. As you are on the east coast, Dr. Robert Bernstein in NY might be worth visiting for a second opinion. If you make it out to California, I’d be happy to see you.

Hair Loss InformationHair Loss On One Side of Head – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

i’m 25. i started noticing thinning hair in the temple area at the age of 21-22 so i shaved my hair. i kept it like that for 2 years. i started taking propecia for 12 months while my hair was shaved and added rogaine in to that. After the 2 year period i let my hair grow out and to my surprise the front temple hair line looked good. i kept it long for a couple of months, but after a while i started losing hair again on my right hand side. keep in mind i’m still using propecia and rogaine. i want to know if its a faze that my hair has to go through, or if this hair loss is gonna be permanent. its only happening on one side of my head.

The frontal hairline is often not symmetrical You need to evaluate your scalp with miniaturization studies to see just where your hair loss is going. The focused question is — Where are you going with your hair loss? You need a few measurements over time to find out if the Propecia is failing to work. If the hairline has gone up quite a bit, you might be a candidate for a hair transplant, but first you need to be evaluated. Dr. Pak and I are based in Southern California (as you’ve indicated that you were), so please consider paying us a visit.

Hair Loss InformationLowering Teen Hairline? – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

(female) I am 15, gonna be 16 in march 2007, and i have an extremely high forehead. i would like to get that lowered. about how much can u lower the forehead? i would like 4 inches or so

Block Quote

To lower the hairline 4 inches can be done, but it would take a balloon expander to do this. That would make your head look like a basketball in front while the expanding balloon is stretching the forehead and scalp. Four inches is a great deal and probably unrealistic. The average female hairlines are lowered by about 1 inch. You need to be evaluated with your parents present, of course. This type of surgery (less aggressive) is done on teenagers.

Hair Loss InformationMaturing Hairline Questions – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Hey, thanks for taking my question. I’d like to know if I’ve got a maturing hairline or if I’m going bald. I’m 20 years old and I’ve recently noticed my hair is thinning away around my temples, and that on the right side of my head the hairline is beginning to rise a little bit higher than it is on the left. The rest of my hair is as thick as ever. Just a few questions:

1. Is this probably a maturing hairline? I’ve read other questions and I noticed you said it develops between 17-29. Seeing as I’m on the younger end, does it make a difference how long it takes? Meaning, if you develop one at 17 do you start continued balding faster than a person who develops it at 27?

2. Do hairlines mature symmetrically?

Thanks!

Block Quote

Hairlines often do not mature symmetrically. If you do not have balding, then the maturing hairline will develop when it develops. No two people develop it at the same rate. My youngest son took 9 years to evolve, yet others will evolve it in a matter of a year to two. I do not know if Propecia will slow it down, but it is logical that this could be a side effect of Propecia.

Hair Loss InformationMy Grandfather, Father, and I All Have the Same Mature Hairline – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

Hi Dr,
I have a mature hairline (since 15) , and my dad and his dad both have the same hairline. No one on my mom’s side has/had a mature hairline. Is this an indication that I will take after my father?(he still has lots of hair)

Sounds like it. Is there balding in the family on either side? That could impact what will happen to you if there is.

Hairline Lowering Procedure – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

can you lower a woman’s hairline without transplants?

Block Quote

Yes, the hairline can be lowered by a technique that differs from hair transplantation. In this technique, a strip of skin is removed from just below the frontal hairline and a trichophytic incision will be used to blend frontal hair into any scar that forms. The cosmetic result of a lowering hairline surgery is immediate and it is less labor and time consuming compared to hair transplantation. One disadvantage of this technique is the possible presence of a linear scar at front of the hairline. The scar could be hidden with a minimal delicate hair transplant surgery in front of it for a better cosmetic result if it is a problem. See other posts on this subject here.

Hairlines and Race – Balding Blog

I was curious why less minorities lose their teenage hairline then white caucasion males? They eat similiar diets, why could this be?

There are clear genetic differences that must be responsible for the different shapes of the hairlines when comparing one race over another. African and Asian (all of Asia) have flatter hairlines (more convex shape) and may retain more of their frontal hairlines than Caucasians (where 95% of males lose their childhood hairlines and recede upward, particularly in the corners taking on a concave shape). It’s in the genes.

I Think 2-Hair Grafts Look Too Thick in the Frontal Hairline – Hair Loss Information by Dr. William Rassman

Hi Dr Rassman! If I pay for lets say 1000 grafts, do I have the right to achieve 2000 hairs (placed in the front) if I only want 1-hair graft in the front? 2-hair grafts don’t look good in the front (by front i mean about 1 inch), it looks too thick. My hairdoctor and I have different thoughts about this! Your opinion?

Thanks and God Jul “Merry Christmas” as we say in sweden.

I generally put a wide transition zone of single hairs in the frontal line. I believe that the ‘line’ is not actually a line, but a zone where there is a transition from the bald forehead to the thicker hair about 1/2 to 1 inch behind. The thicker area should have two hairs each, but that is a negotiation between doctor and patient. Generally, if you make single hairs from two and three hair grafts, there is a hair death rate, as not all of the hair will survive the break-up of the follicular unit. Great skills are necessary to accomplish this with the greatest success rate possible. I realize you are not in the US, but if you do make it out to California or if any other readers come to one of our open house events, you can look closely at the hairlines we have created and I think you will see what I am talking about in person. Alternatively, you can take a look at the Patient Photo Gallery on the NHI website.

Persistent Forelock of Actor Jude Law – Hair Loss Information – Balding Blog

I am a 27 year old man with straight jet black hair. I’ve been thinning since I was 21. I still have alot hair left but a really bad receding hairline and a sharp widow’s peak similar to Jude Law in this pic.

What kind of procedure would you recommend for some one like me or Jude Law?

Block Quote

The photo you linked to (and others I’ve seen online) suggests that Jude Law has a Norwood Class 3 balding problem and he seems to have a strong persistent forelock which will probably last as the corners progressively go back. Some people are fine with this pattern, but if he were my patient, I would suggest that he go on Propecia and stay on it for life. Otherwise, he may suffer the fate of actor Bill Murray or late-night talk host David Letterman, both of which had strong forelocks at one point, though Letterman seems to still maintain his.

As for what I’d suggest for you, I’d have to see your actual hair loss before making a recommendation. You can send photos (please reference this blog posting) and I’ll be able to provide further information.
