if honey applied on hair, will it turns white?
It will turn sticky for sure, but it will not make your hair white. Try it with some cut hairs and find out for yourself.

Hi, you talk about miniaturization alot, but i was wondering if you can actually feel the smaller hairs? I can feel smaller hairs in my scalp when i press my fingers between my hair, but i pull my hair quite alot so i don’t know if this is regrowing hair or miniaturized hair. I was just wondering if you have to do a miniaturization test, or you could feel the hairs physically?
Feeling your hair has less precision than a visual miniaturization test (under a video microscope). Also with a miniaturization mapping, you can take photos and compare the appearance of areas over time… but how would you be able to keep good records over time by feeling?

I have been taking vitamin b12 at 1mg daily of the sublingual tablets. Is this considered a megadose? I have noticed better mood and even skin tone. However, I have also noticed more hair shedding and fallout. Do you think this could be related? Could taking too much b12 cause hair loss? I thought excess of these vitamins were just passed out through urine? Thanks.
Vitamin B12 at those doses should not cause hair loss. That isn’t a megadose. There’s a lot of B12 info that I found at VeganForum.com (via Google). But as for hair loss, I’d look elsewhere for the diagnosis… like genetic causes.
Dear Dr, I am concerned about mpb – I have two large whorls and am not sure if they have always been there or are growing – I don’t have any good photos to compare with.
I have read about minituarization on your excellent site. Instead of having micro-photos taken, I cut a sample of hairs (about 10) from each area of scalp – crown, top, back, sides, temples and compared shaft width. I have noticed no discernible difference – each hair was equally fine and I do not believe that I have started a DUPA type MPB as my father is NW6 / NW7 Is this an indication that I have not started mpb – or is there hope yet??!!
Miniaturization mapping is a visual tool to compare hair shaft thickness which you are measuring directly yourself. With no change in shaft thickness, you do not appear to be balding at all. Good question and scientific observations.
I’ve just come across an article which gives an alternative solution to balding men. Unfortunately, hair transplants do not always meet our expectations, and various hair loss treatments only control our hair loss for a while. Personally, I don’t mind shaving my head, but the problem is my hair loss result has given me a receding hair line and a bald spot. According to an article you can now shave your head and have your bald spots covered with ink. What do you think about this method ? Will people be able to detect that your went through a tattoo procedure ? Does this method have any serious side effects ?
Here is the article: Mirror UK
Also here is a site where the company advertises their procedure: HI Studio
This works, but it’s been my experience that the art is a bit unpredictable based upon the following:
I have had one person do it really well, but he did it himself with a semi permanent dye and repeated it every few days. He incorporated some other chemicals which gave it a rough feel, like very short hairs would do. Then again, I’ve seen other patients with this and was not impressed with the end product. I’m not saying the company you mentioned would do an inferior job — I haven’t seen their work up close. I’m just saying in general, I’m not a fan of scalp tattoos. It certainly is no “cure” for hair loss, like that Mirror article suggests.

Before i was ten i started with little white patches on my left thigh… those went away but the white pubic hair and lighter skin (i have very dark brown hair) didn’t go away completely. I’ve noticed it going away slowly and it’s now only on the left side and i’m growing more dark pubic hair… is this something to be concerned about?
This is like people who have patches of white hair on the head. It could be purely a genetic thing and is not something you should be concerned about. There’s a hair dye for pubic hair called Betty, though I can’t say I have personal experience with it.
Yo doc,
Alot of guys that are my age (20s) are taking this supplement called Spawn right now. It’s supossed to help you pack on the pounds quickly. I’m a pretty skinny guy and was wondering if you think this supplement would be bad for my hair. A side effect is protection from gynomatastia. What you think? Should I give it a try for 30 days (that’s the max amount of time they recommend taking it). Here are some relevant links… myogenix.com
The second post on this one has side effects info… bodybuildingdungeon.com
One website I found states there’s a risk of hair loss and even suggests steroid type effects on body mass… and that is a big turn-off for me. Then again, nearly every site I’ve found that sells this product states it will not cause acne or hair loss. Who to believe?
You’re an adult and this is an over the counter supplement. This is not something I would recommend, but I’m not your physician, nor do I have any experience with patients taking this stuff.
Snippet from the article:
A university lecturer has succeeded in regenerating hair on mice using embryonic stem cells, an achievement that could pave the way for the development of treatments for conditions including hair loss, it has been learned.
Details of the breakthrough, by Mariko Yamaki of Matsumoto Dental University, will be published in the May edition of The Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine magazine.
The work involved taking skin cells and combining them with mesenchymal stem cells-multipotent stem cells that develop into various organs of the body-to regenerate hair. Yamaki said it would be difficult to regenerate hair using only embryonic stem cells.
Read the full article — Embryonic stem cells used to regenerate hair on mice
This seems to show the connection between stem cells produced by embryos can grow hair. The question I’d like to see answered is whether the same can be shown for adult stem cells from the same person. If it could, the barrier brought on by the FDA should be bypassed and adult stem cells could appear on the market. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet though, as this is still experiments with mice at this point. It sure is exciting stuff, though!
hey doc my question is about facial hair im 30 years old and tried everything to grow a beard and it seems like its never going to happen. is there anything i can do? i tried alot of different things like shaving everyday and nothing seems to work. i never seen my father grow one but he has a thick mustache that i also wished i had. can you give me any advice please? thanx
If you father did not have a beard (only a moustache), you may be following in his path. I personally wish I had no beard hair, but alas, the good Lord never asked me. Shaving can be quite a chore.
Minoxidil applied to the face might work to grow facial hair, but it isn’t intended to be used for that. Transplanting an entire beard can be done, but it might not be wise. Transplanting a moustache can be done along with or without a goatee. Contrary to popular belief, shaving doesn’t make the hair grow in thicker.
