Aggressive MPB vs Normal MPB?

Hello,

I was hoping you could explain to me what exactly is “aggressive” MPB versus “normal” MPB? How would you diagnose or differentiate between the two?

Thanks

You may be relating the rapidity of the loss that occurs with genetic balding. Some people bald faster than others and this is mostly a genetic process. To make sense out of your question, I would have to see you and examine you myself.

Livon for Dry Hair and Minoxidil

i have been losing hair from either side of my forehead.now im using minoxidil 5%.i was using other oil and wash it was before using minoxidil.but i came to know that if we use other oil it wont allow minoxidil to penetrate into scalp.so i stopped using it.but now my hair has become dry and is difficult to comb.there is a hair fluid called livon which instantly smoothens and softens dry hair.it is usually used on towel-dried hair.so i wanted to know whether i can use it and if i use will it stop minoxidil to enter into scalp or should i use the hair fluid after applying minoxidil.please advise.

While there is no way to be sure, but I would think using minoxidil at least 30 minutes prior to using the softening product (Livon) would be the best compromise.

Almost All of My Hair Has Grown Back!

Hi Dr. Rassman,

At 21 I started losing my hair in the front of my head and on my crown. I ignored it for about a year and then at 22 I started taking finasteride this was about 8 months ago.

6 months into it I noticed no results but I believed my hair had stopped falling out; to try and maximize my results I started using minoxidil 5% on my scalp.

Suddenly about 2 weeks ago I noticed almost ALL of my hair had grown back and am experiancing almost zero hair loss. My question is do you think this is because the finasteride finally kicked in, or is it because I am using both finasteride and minoxidil?

(Just to clarify: I have been using finasteride for 8 months and minxodil for a little over 2 months)

I always tell people to go for a full 8-12 months on finasteride before drawing any conclusions. Likely, the impact of what you are reporting is the result of finasteride. Less chance it was minoxidil. If you have only been using the minoxidil for 2 months, you might try stopping it now, but if it should result in hair loss, then kick back in using it. You are a lucky and thoughtful man and you did the right thing.

On an unrelated note, this is the post #2,000 on BaldingBlog. Wow!

Persistent juvenile hairline, good for hair transplants

Am I a good hair transplant candidate?

Yes, you may be an excellent candidate for a hair transplant because you have a persistent juvenile hairline which doesn’t need to suck up grafts and the grafts can be distributed to more easily cover the balding area on top and in the crown.

Losing Crown Hair While Maintaining a Juvenile Hairline?

Hello Dr. Rassman,

Is it possible to start balding in the vertex area and scalp area while still maintaining a juvenile hairline? I noticed that I still have hair under my furrowed brow, but the overall thickness of my scalp hair has dramatically decreased. I am 22 years of age.
Thank you.

Yes! You can start balding from the vertex (crown) area while maintaining a juvenile hairline. Those patients are a subset of the normal Norwood hair loss patterns with a persistent frontal hairline.

In rare instances, someone with this type of hair loss may even continue to have his juvenile hairline for the rest of his life, even though his crown has become bald.

Yes, you have a very early recession developing with miniaturization of the hairs in the frontal hairline. This could be reversed with minoxidil, finasteride and possibly microneedling.

Losing more hair on one side of my head

So I am thinning fast on only one side of my head, a direct line in the middle of my head from the back of my neck to my forehead separates normal hair to thinning short hair, it’s actually messed up. I am 21 and have had nice thick hair my whole life until I noticed this last year. There is no stimulation or feeling when I massage my scalp on the one side of my head, that side just feels like its barely staying alive lol. I went out and bought, nizoral shampoo and castor oil today and even just rubbing the castor oil mixture in there were tons of hairs covering my hand like im shedding (Again only on that one side of my head) nothing falls out on the other side when I message it. I want to know if ANY of you have seen any positive results from Minoxidi or rogaine. I’m not desperate enough to get my doctor to give me Fin I personally like my hair but due to the fact I need my dick to work and so does my girlfriend the side effects threw me off.

hair loss is not symmetrical. Get a HAIRCHECK test (https://baldingblog.com/haircheck-test-how-it-is-done-video/ ) to put numbers on your hair loss as metrics are the key to diagnosis and building a Personalized Master Plan.

Lost Much of My Hair at 19 (Photo)

I’ve been looking into FIN and MIN but the amount of hair left on my head suggests that both of those might not work. I’ve also heard a lot about hair systems but there’s not much information on it on google from what I have searched. Where are you supposed to go for a hair system, barbers? I’m located in the Bay Area and don’t know much about hair systems cause I don’t know anyone who does it or has gotten it before.

Is there anything I can do for this amount of hair left? Seems like there isn’t but I still have hope. Don’t want to completely accept being bald just yet.(pic in comment)

For 19, it looks bad, but hair can be maintained for life with medications and/or hair transplants. You need to be evaluated by an expert who can measure your donor density and then determine a Personalized Master Plan for you. Since you are 19, drugs like finasteride have reversed the balding in some men, but working with a good doctor has no substitute if it is the hair you want to keep. Some men will do Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) which will give you the look of a shaved head for life (see here: https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/ but be selective on the men you look at on our site).
