Heart palpitations on Minoxidil foam

Any reason why I get bad heart palpitations from 2% min foam? Rogaine brand if that matters

Heart palpitations are a side effect of minoxidil. You are absorbing it systemically despite the fact that you are putting it on your scalp. I would speak with your doctor about this. You probably should stop using minoxidil.

What do you think of this plan for surgery? (photo)

I was quoted 3200 grafts- 2500 for hairline and 800 for crown and midscalp. Clinic told me it was a conservative estimate as I indicated I would still be on meds for another 5 months before doing the HT (been on fin / minox for the past 7 months). Do you think this is a fair estimate? I’m not hopeful of regrowing more hair from meds as progress from meds seems to be quite stagnant past the 5-month mark for me. Would appreciate your thoughts!

What is your age? If you are under 25, reconsider doing a hair transplant. It takes a year to see results from medications. 2500 grafts for the frontal hairline? As I can’t see your hairline, I would be just guessing that it seems high. The crown will likely reverse with finasteride and minoxidil, and certainly, if you add microneedling. You should get results in 9 months or less from this routine. You need to get a competent and hopefully honest surgeon and not blow your future on numbers that make no sense. You would likely lose all of the hair that is there now if there is any significant degree of miniaturization and if you don’t take finasteride.

HGH Doesn’t List Hair Loss As a Side Effect

Here’s a link about Human Growth Hormone from the MayoClinic, a trustworthy source. It does not list baldness as any of its side effects. Although when you go to testosterone under the MayoClinic, it does list baldness as a side effect.

MayoClinic.com – Human growth hormone (HGH): Does it slow aging process?

I do believe that human growth hormone (HGH) can precipitate genetic male pattern balding, as it has some androgenic properties. I can’t explain why Mayo Clinic doesn’t list this side effect; perhaps they overlooked it or connection between the androgens and the HGH? Aside from a few patients over the years taking HGH (none that were taking anabolic steroids, which many bodybuilders use concurrently HGH), I don’t have a ton of patient references for real-world examples — but those that were taking HGH did experience increased hair loss since starting their HGH regimen.

There have also been reports on the Internet that HGH can actually help hair growth, but I’ve yet to see that at all. Unfortunately, this is not one of the areas of my particular expertise.

What Happens If You Do Take Creatine (Without Steroids)?

There are reports that people who take Creatine and have the genes for balding, can bring on or accelerate the hair loss process. I wrote about it a number of times, but take a look at this previous post: https://baldingblog.com/creatine-increases-dht/

Higher libido, more hair loss on finasteride

Hi, I began fin 2 months ago and my hair is significantly worse. It’s really thinner and my hairline is more receded than before. Also, I’ve a lot more sex drive like never before. I dont know if it’s a shed or if fin is having the opposite effect on my body.

Stick to the finasteride and it should slow down the loss. You are one of the lucky guys that get’s an increase in libido with finasteride

What If Minoxidil Came In Contact with My Recently Laser Treated Face?

Hello doctor, I’m a 31 year old male that is about to have have a CO laser treatment to remove a some acne scars I had gotten when I was younger. My plastic surgeon did a “test patch” too see if I’d have any pigmentation issues during the healing process. Duning that time, the COâ‚‚laser left my skin quite exposed, as it was raw from the treatment.

My question is, I currently use 5% Minoxidil twice a day and I’m worried what might happen to my treated skin if maybe a drop of Minoxidil accidently came in contact with it? I currently style my hair, after the Minoxidil has dried, I see the minoxidil particles that flake off when I brush. Could these dried airborne minoxidil particles create irrevocable damage to laser treated skin?

Thank you for your time and knowledge.

Minoxidil can be irritating to the skin. Try to keep it away from fresh wounds. If you can not, then it may be best to stop the minoxidil for a week or two and then restart it. The flakes you are seeing may be dried skin being shed and not the minoxidil that has dried out. I would doubt that these flakes, whatever the cause, would give you problems.

Hormonal Differences Between Men With and Without MPB?

Are there any hormonal differences in general between men with male pattern baldness and men without MPB?

We know that in men, testosterone gets converted into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and it is the 5a-reductase enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT. Some men do not have the genetics markers that cause the DHT to induce the (hair) loss, though. In other words one can have a very high DHT level and never have hair loss (because they do not have the genes for genetic hair loss).

DHT can be inhibited/ reduced with drugs like Propecia (finasteride 1mg). Although women also make testosterone (lesser amounts) the impact of Propecia does not stop or reverse genetic female hair loss as it does in most men. This suggest that women’s hair loss is not related to DHT.

With all that said… I don’t know of any specific hormonal differences between balding and hairy men.

How can HAIRCHECK tell the difference between aging hair and balding?

How would a haircheck distinguish between balding, and simply aging. Won’t the hair check just confirm that there is a loss of hair or density either way?

If all of the hairs on the head are thinning as a result of aging, the HAIRCHECK test will show no differences between one area of the scalp and another. In a balding person, there will be distinct differences in the various parts of the scalp that show reduced hair bulk. See here: https://baldingblog.com/haircheck-test-how-it-is-done-video/

What Is the Difference Between a Mature Hairline and Mpb?

A mature hairline is located 1 finger breadth above the highest crease of the furrowed brow in the mid-line and a gentle V-Shape to the hairline. IF the V-[shape is too sharp], the corner recession could be present, the beginning of a Class 3 pattern of balding.
