I Had 3500 FUE Grafts Done 5 Weeks Ago, Now I Can See Through to My Donor Area. Will This Recover?

It is difficult to tell if you have shock hair loss or over-harvesting of the donor area. Over-harvesting would be unlikely if your original donor density was normal as shown here (see: https://newhair.com/donor-area/). However, if your donor density was low, then 3000 grafts could have exceeded your maximum number of grafts that can be harvested. There is little you can do now but wait and see what you look like in 5 months or so.

Interview with Dr Rassman in Time Magazine

Snippet from article:

Hair loss affects more than 50 million Americans, 20 million of them women. With numbers like that, it’s not surprising that the people behind the bestselling Dummies Books series have taken note. Their comprehensive new book, Hair Loss & Replacement for Dummies, authored by four medical experts on hair loss, has just been published by Wiley. TIME senior reporter Andrea Sachs spoke with one of the authors, hair-transplant surgeon Dr. William Rassman in Los Angeles.

TimeHey, that’s me!

Read my new interview with Time Magazine at their website — Time.com. I’m glad I got the chance to get some publicity for my new book, Hair Loss & Replacement for Dummies (which you can buy online or in stores now *cough cough*). The interview was just posted on Time’s site, so feel free to post your thoughts about it here (after you read it, of course).

4 months dutasteride, mironeedling and minoxidil (photo)

The combination of Dutastereide, minoxidil and microneedling shows that the corner thinning (shown by arrows) has lessened with this treatment. These are early results and further benefit can be expected over more time.

Is a pubic hair transplant possible?

I have been applying minox foam to my pubic hair for the past 3 months. My pubic hair was quite long to begin with, but now the hairs are over 4 inches long. Typically they would be only at 2-3 inches at the longest. I was doing this experiment to see if it would make sense to use pubic hair in a hair transplant and my research has lead me to believe minox is a valid solution to the length issue when using pubic hair for scalp hair transplant. I will continue to apply once a day, 1 ml for the foreseeable future (wife is not happy)

Pubic hair has been used for hair transplants in the past. The problem is its very curly nature and it may not match your hair characteristics.

Is Elan Muck on finasteride?

What is the probability of shock loss when getting a transplant without fin? Are some people able to get transplants without it?

Shock loss is common when there is a lot of miniaturization. Therefore, shock loss is more common in younger men, typically under 30 or 35 depending upon what miniaturization presents.

40 year old with hairline regrowth (photos)

This 40-year-old male reversed his hairline recession with minoxidil 6%, 0.3% finasteride topical solution as well as microneedling. I suspect that without the microneedling, he would have had no response. Microneedling is a fantastic treatment for almost any age man with balding. The problem with microneedling is “Will it last” and if so, how long without continuing the process.

Is Hair Normally Thinner Towards the Root?

Is it normal for a hair under an inch long to be noticably thinner towards the root? i see hairs that fall out that look kinda like an exclamation mark, thick at top and thin at the root. my hair is around 2cm long.

The exclamation point hair you’re describing usually points to a variety of conditions, such as allergic disorders, thyroid disease, vitiligo, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and ulcerative colitis (see Exclamation point hair). Normally hair is uniform in width.

Taking Scabs off after transplant

I’ve been soaking and massaging twice a day per my doctor’s orders. I’m on day 5 now and quite a bit of scabbing has come off, but there’s still some left to go. I’m being gentle and no bleeding at all, so I’m just going to keep at it.

It is tricky to get scabs off at 5 days as the grafts get attached under the scabs so when the scabs come off, the grafts can be pulled out. The risk goes away at the 12th day.
