This young man went to a clinic that clearly didn’t know what they were doing. His hairline is almost down to his eyebrows, less than 1 inch. Every hair in the frontal hairline that is too low will have to be removed, hair by hair. He will probably be scarred as well. This is a very costly repair. and it will take some time to see if he can get all of these hairs out. As soon as I saw this, my mind wondered into the type of people who can do this type of mutilation to a young man that just wanted to look better. Worse, they are probably doing this over and over again. I blocked out his face to preserve his dignity. He posted this on Reddit. I wonder if this could be a photoshopped photo, exaggerating it to get comments.
Vitamin D Deficiency, Should I Still Take Finasteride?
I got my blood test results and found out that my vitamin D was very low, my doctor said this could have lead to my excess shedding. Now knowing this info I’ve been taking fin for little over a week now and was wondering if I should stop taking it or be taking it just in case?
Should I just take vitamin d or take vitamin d and fin?
Does your balding reflect the genetics (Norwood type) or is it diffuse? If it is the genetic type, then even the Vitamin D deficiency might not reverse the hair loss.

I want to start finasteride, can I start taking a pill every other day?
Yes, the 0.5mg does is 80% effective and you can ease into the full dose it that makes you more comfortable.

Hare Club for Men – Gummy Candy
Try Hare Club for Men, where you can get a nice hare to show off to you friends. The Hare Club for Men package includes 10 Gummi Bunnies and a fun collectible sticker in the fancy box shown below. About 300 calories for the whole box and zero grams of fat, it works for the diet conscious person. Our society exploits the balding process as illustrated here in this cartoon. Some of my readers are too intense so this entry will better prepare you for the more serious entries below.
Oh yes, this candy is legit and although I can’t find any mention of it online, I do know from the box that it is a seasonal Easter candy made by a company called Galerie out of Kentucky. I thought people would get a kick out of it… Ha!

Weird bald spot + possible androgenic alopecia. Help me identify this please.
I didn’t post this in the other thread mainly because I have a weird bald spot that I’m hoping someone will help me identify.
A few years ago I went to a hair salon to get my hair curled and somehow the hairdresser burned off some some strands of my hair (one in the front and one in the middle). I only noticed it weeks later when the one in the front was just standing out up in the air (it looked weird lol). Around the same time I realized I had a weird bald spot in my scalp. Until this day I’m not sure if it was caused by the blow dryer/curling iron the hairdresser used or if it happened naturally. I still have this bald spot. And I’m saying “the hairdresser used” because I don’t curl or flat iron or blow dryer my hair at all. That was a rare thing and I did it for an event. So now I don’t know if this is part of the alopecia or if somehow the hair root was burned and that’s why it’s not growing back. Does anyone recognize what this is?
Also I feel like my hairline is receding but I do notice some baby hairs growing at the same time. The middle part of my hair is significantly thinning over the past couple of years. Is this androgenic alopecia? And is the bald spot related to this? Should I start treatment and do I have keep doing it for the rest of my life (cue panic mode).
I attached pictures from different distances. Please excuse the dandruff and the frizz (trust me, I’m trying to get ride of it). Thank you so much for your help!
If this is new, you should see a dermatologist who will perform dermoscopy on your to find out if you have any disease in this area. You might have had a partial burn to the scalp that could cause it, but the loss is uniform

Hashimoto’s Disease in Women
I am a woman, 40 years of age, and having a hair loss problem for over 18 years. I used to have very straight and thick hair, but now very thin and fluffy. I tried too many kind of shampoos, vitamins and programs. One of them, 101product, was no help. I have had an autoimmune disease called HASHIMOTO for 16 years. I’m taking medication and everything is under control. My doctor told me after he did all kinds of tests that i don’t have any physical problem causing my hair loss. My question is what do you think could help me? My sister has the same problem and she doesn’t suffer from anything physically.Your replying back will be appreciated.
Thank you
You may have both female genetic hair loss plus Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and your sister may have the genetic element, which tends to run in the female line in particular families. The existence of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis or any auto-immune disease can precipitate hair loss. Medications that treat these autoimmune problems often have hair loss as a side effect. Woman’s hair loss is extensively discussed here and I suggest that you and your sister read my many answers to questions which will contain many bits of insights for you here.

What Are the Reasons for My Hair Loss and How Can I Quickly Regrow It All?
Hi Doctor,
When I was young, I was born with an amazing volume of hair. However, I am unsure of what reasons, I started having hair thinning when I was 18. Now I am 32 and my hair volume is only 1/4 of what I was. I am not taking any medication and my family does not have a history of thinning hair.
Can I check what are the possible reasons and what are the steps I can take to quickly regain all my hair?
Thank you.
There is nothing you can do to “quickly” regain your hair. If it was that easy, I doubt we’d see people with balding and this site would be a single post explaining how to regrow all your hair. Unfortunately, the magic you’re seeking isn’t a reality.
You should see a doctor to go over your options. If you have male pattern (genetic) hair loss, finasteride could be a possible treatment for you. Genes are the most common reason for hair loss in men.
