Cytostatic Agent on the Face and Eyebrow Hair Loss?

Hello doctor,

can a cytostatic agent applied to the face in order to relieve effects of seborrheic dermatitis cause damage to eyebrow hairs? As far as I know, it slows down cell multiplication rate of the skin so I am wondering if it affects eyebrows and how?

Thank you

I think this question is better asked to a dermatologist. I have no experience with cytostatic agents as they are used for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis.

Please help me. I went to a tattooist to get SMP and this is what he did

Many of my friends are asking me what I did to my head?

Unfortunately, SMP is an art form that takes a long time to learn, I have seen many such examples of SMP done by people who should not be doing it at all (sake a look at our website to see what it should look like here: https://scalpmicropigmentation.com. You can go to a dermatologist who has a Q-Switch laser and have these removed to get you back to normal. Then if you are willing to get it done right, visit us.

Dealing with Hair Loss

i’m a 32 y/o male suffering from hair baldness. i still have some good quantity of hair on the top side of my head. i am using now saw palmetto trying to stop hair loss, i am now very interested to use your method and looking to strength the hair i still have. can you please tell me whats your procedure to deal with hair loss and does the hair you transplants grow like a normal hair

To answer this question would take a book, which I have already written. In fact, you can receive the book, The Patient’s Guide To Hair Restoration, which is available from me free of charge by mail or by download in PDF format.

Baldness can be treated with medications and surgery. Medications slow down, stop and sometimes regrow the hair. Hair transplants move hair that is permanent (from the side and back of the head) to the balding area. As a general rule, these transplanted hairs grow naturally and last your life time. The problem with hair transplants is that people often lose more hair than they can transfer with a hair transplant so that the supply of donor hair is inadequate to meet the need of the balding area.

You need to arrange for a visit to a good doctor who specializes in this type of field to find out what are your options and balance them against your need and your budget.

Is It Possible to Bald Without Shedding? (from Reddit)

Yes, some people can recede without balding. This means that their frontal hairline may work its way back to blatant frontal balding without loss of hair elsewhere. However, sooner or later, many men will develop balding elsewhere on their scalp. If it bothers you a great deal, then a hair transplant (an FUE) can solve the problem.

Damaged hair grafts from FUE (photos)

The surgical team placed all of these grafts to marvel on the job that they did; however, they shouldn’t have been proud of it as many of these grafts will never grow. Note that the hairs within the grafts are cut in portions (transected). Post-Op Graft Care

Hello-

It seems like every HT Doctor recommends someting differenet for post-op care of the new grafts…..such as…..Biotin Spray…..Saline Spray…..Graftcyte….Vitamin E Oil…..to nothing….etc.

What do you recommend for post-op care of the grafts?

Thanks

Ritual danceYou are correct. Nearly every hair transplant doctor seems to recommend something different. There are no scientific studies that indicate that one post operative care is better than the other.

It is important to note the most critical part of a hair transplant surgery is during the procedure itself (the peri-operative care). Making sure that the surgical staff kept the grafts moist, wet, and cool at all times so they have the maximum chance at survival. Once the grafts have been transplanted in to the recipient area, it should be fine. All of the post-operative care is not as important as the peri-operative care. Even if you do nothing to at all, the transplanted hair should grow just as well. In my practice, I make sure the recipient sites are kept clean with daily washings with a mild soap. For over 15 years, we’ve consistently had great results! Perhaps it was the ritualistic hair growth dance and chanting I teach to all my patients. Ha!

Dermaroller: How deep do I have to go?

Just picked up two dermarollers. One that is 0.5mm, and one that is 1.5mm. 0.5mm seems fine, peach-fuzz length, I’m fine with it. 1.5mm seems like it is going to puncture through to my cortex

Logic would dictate a depth of about 1mm as adequate as the scalp epidermis is only 0.5mm thick so needles need to go down to a depth of at least 1mm just below it to where the stem cells can get activated. Use minoxidil with it as it helps.

Prednisone and Hair Loss

I recently read that prednisone is usually not related with hair loss in women, but I am a 35 year old female who has ulcerative colitis. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital where they gave me prednisone intraveniously as well. I have been on oral doses starting at 55mg and over a course of about 5 months, have gone down to 5mg and will soon be off. I am also taking Asacol which may also be contributing to my hair loss. I have also been losing A LOT of my hair and it is really starting to affect my confidence. I have been hospitalized 3 other times for this condition where I also lost hair due to the meds and it did return. I just don’t remember it being as extreme. Is there a product I can take to help me grow it back and is it the Prednisone that has caused this hair loss? Thank you for your time.

Your hair loss can be attributed to multiple causes, such as malnutrition from Ulcerative Colitis, the medication in Asacol, and stress from your recent hospitalization. Steroids have androgenic properties and can also be the cause of your hair loss. I do not know if the hair loss is reversible, certainly as long as you are on many of these medications. If the medications have precipitated genetic hair loss, you may not get benefits even if you are off of the medications.

DHEA and Hair Loss

Hi,

I have read confilicting information regarding DHEA supplements and Hair Loss.

  1. Can DHEA increase hair loss?
  2. Is this due to DHEA converting to Androstenedione then this converting to Testosterone and then on to DHT which causes the hair loss?
  3. Does DHEA cause direct problems to the hair follicles like DHT does?
  4. If you were to take a 5 alpha Reductase inhibitor like Finasteride would this help with any potential hair loss problems associated with taking DHEA? and if so would it be because it blocked the Testosterone (converted from the Androstenedione converted from the DHEA) from converting to DHT?

Thanks for your help

  1. Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) does not directly cause androgenic alopecia (AGA), but may accelerate it.
  2. DHEA can potentially affect DHT levels, thus indirectly causing hair loss (via DHT).
  3. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) does cause hair loss in men who are genetically susceptible to AGA.
  4. Finasteride is a prescription medication for men who have AGA. It is not meant for use with DHEA.

Preventative hair transplant

25 yo. I’m thinking of getting a hair transplant in the next 7 months or so. I will likely need another one after that. My crown is very thin ( can see scalp) and my hairline has receded. I still have quite a bit of hair tho.

I was wondering can one get a preventative hair transplant in areas where you’re likely to lose hair in the future ( transplanting hairs in areas where there’s hair but it’s less dense).

I am strongly against a preventive hair transplant because of this: https://baldingblog.com/need-master-plan-think-hair-transplants-photos/ A good Master Plan is needed before you go forward with the hair transplant process. Here is my explanation for the Master Plan: https://baldingblog.com/so-if-i-replace-my-receding-hairline-what-happens-in-another-5-10-years-when-i-continue-to-recede-answer-a-master-plan-with-a-good-doctor-who-measures-your-hair-bank/
