As the bald spot appears to still have some hair, it may be the beginning of early genetic balding. I recommend you see a doctor who can perform miniaturization studies in the hair around the bald spot. This will help determine if there is early miniaturization present.

Is it normal for hair to thin towards the root in a single strand during the balding process? Looking at the photo below, can you tell if there any miniaturized hairs?

Let’s say the hair is on average 10 inches long and that you can easily tell towards the root it is a lot thinner than at the tip. You can also see there is a lot less pigmented towards the root.

You are very observant. The thinning hair closer to the root may be the effect of early miniaturization. This occurs at the most recent part of the hair that is growing. I believe if you observe this over time, more and more hairs will become miniaturized and reflect the genetic balding process that is taking place. Of the two hairs in the photo, the one on the right is miniaturized. It is thinner and has less pigment in it. I am fairly certain that it took longer to grow as well because miniaturized hairs grow slower and then either fall out or stop growing altogether.

 

I have been slowly loosing since i was 15 about and i have nw 1.5 if that Means anything, anyways i am in a really early stage and i want to keep my hair for AS long AS possible. I am completely new to this and don’t know anything about what to do . Is there any products i should look into or buy straight away to slow down the hair loss. Your language is fine and you communicated your problem very well. I started having tinnitus a month after using Minoxodil, never thought it could be related to this medication. Recently I went to see an audiologist and forgot to mention the Minoxidil. He did a hearing exam and said that my hearing is dropping at the higher frequency range, starting 9000 Hz. I told him that I was a musician, and he told me to blame the drummer for that. I start to get bald from top of my head. The other areas are staying strong so far. Although the front headline go up a bir, it is not at a level it concerns me much. Scalp hair is the ideal hair for a hair transplant. Beard hair is only used if you run out of scalp hair from overharvesting. Overharvesting reflects poor planning on your doctor’s part. Beard hair, when used, is never used in the leading edge of the hairline because it looks like beard kinky hair.

Recently, i have to start shaving my mustache once every 3 days since the growth is much more noticeable and i have started growing a visible soul patch??? I don’t have a speck of hair for a beard and under my lips, so a soul patch is so off-putting when i saw it in the mirror. Also, i only apply the min on my scalp so its weird seeing growth on places other than the top of my head. I will just take these changes as a good sign!

It means that you are absorbing enough minoxidil in your body though the skin to produce hair elsewhere. When women use it and this happens, they get facial hair and body hair as well. maybe you are using too high a concentration of minoxidil?
