Once a week to every ten days is the routine for microneedling. You just have to hold the pen against the skin and the instrument will take care of the depth as it cycles. The use of a Dr. Pen microneedling device at a depth of 1.5mm can produce considerable bleeding. You should probably reduce the needle depth to 1mm so that the bleeding will not be so great. There is another problem I see here, and that is the area you covered is the same area as your original juvenile hairline. The juvenile hairs in that old hairline are unlikely to come back. The area where you have receded, will more likely come back which reflects the transition to a mature hairline possibly with recession. That is within the area outlined by the blood. I would like to see a mature hairline drawn on your head and then see you microneedle that area. Baking Soda in Shampoo to Increase Hair Thickness?
Hello Doctor
Many internet sources claim that adding baking soda to your shampoo increases hair thickness. Would you say it worth a try? Could be any dangerous?
I don’t like the idea of using baking soda on your hair and scalp to make your hair appear thicker, but I don’t think it will hurt. There are volumizing shampoos and conditioners that are safe and proven effective, and that’s what I would personally stick with.

Bald Spot Just Appeared on Back of My Head
I am a 21 year old Male who up until a few months ago had no problem with balding. I was getting my hair cut relativly short and my hair dresser noticied I had a bald spot on the back of me head about the size of a quarter. I kinda ignored it figuring it would grow back but it has been about 5 months now and my hair is longer but the bald spot is balder then bald and seems to be getting bigger according to other people (as I cannot see the back of my head). I was just wondering what the cause for this is and if it can be anything serious or just stress related possibly? Thank You very much.
Send me a photo of the spot you’re talking about so I can see what you’re referring to. At 21, you are relatively young for crown balding. I have some important questions for you:
- Is the spot in the center of the head where the swirl is located or is it off to the side?
- Is there still some hair present in this bald spot?
- Is there any balding or thinning any place else on your head?
- Do you have a family history of balding in the crown (back) of your head and if so, at what age did it happen?
A good doctor may be able to diagnose a possible cause, such as ringworm, alopecia areata, etc. There is not substitute to a good doctor’s examination for you. If this is genetic balding, you would want to get your hair mapped out for miniaturization as well as getting a HAIRCHECK test (https://baldingblog.com/haircheck-test-how-it-is-done-video/) as genetic hair loss has patterns of thinning which appear before developing a bald spot. The HAIRCHECK test will tell us if you have any balding elsewhere that you can’t see.
What Are Miniaturized Hairs and What Do They Look Like? (from Reddit)
Miniaturized hairs are thinner than normal hairs. They slow down or stop growing, making them shorter near the end of their life.

Early Balding in Black Men Under 30 Show an Increase Risk of Prostate Cancer as They Get Older
I have also read that men who develop crown balding (back of the head balding) have a higher risk of heart disease. I found this to be true in my patient population.
Statistics are always interesting!
Minoxidil and finasteride for 3 months (from Reddit)
Amazing results are hard to believe. Hair grows at 1/2 inch/month so to get these results, you would have had to start growing all of the lost hair immediately after going on these medications.

Balding Triggered by Placebo!
I know this is going to sound weird, but my hairloss really started only 1 or 2 weeks after I began obsessively taking pictures of my temples, crown, etc and becoming anxious over it. Back then I seriously panicked thinking I had MPB as a teen, leading me to this sub. In retrospect, it looked perfectly fine. It then suddenly became much thinner, and since then my hairline, primarily the temples, has been steadily receding and my hair turned thinner, like a self-fulfilling prophecy.
MPB is certainly genetic, but what factors (like stress) could trigger it to start occurring earlier?
Some men practice denial, and one day they look and there it is! Are you really balding? See a good doctor and find out.

Minoxidil Causes Braining Fog and Dizziness
I would like to report my findings after discontinuing 5% Minoxidil. I assumed Finastride gave me brain fog after months of combining it with Minoxidil. After discontinuing Minoxidil, my “brain fog” went away within weeks. I have not taken Minoxidil in 6 months, and I feel more mentally sharp. I also noticed a lot of hair shedding these past few months. It seems to happen year after year in the fall and spring. I originally blamed it on a shed from Minoxidil, but since I stopped taking it 6 months ago, it is probably natural hair loss. I still experience dizziness from time to time, but this is highly dependent on my sleep schedule. I hope this could possibly help someone if you choose to post it. I blamed medication for my problems sometimes, but this isn’t always true. I plan to continue taking Finastride for a year or so. Then, I will re-introduce 5% Minoxidil every evening / once daily (due to dizziness). After 1-2 years of stable hair growth, I will opt for a hair transplant in the frontal area to have a better hairline.
Dizziness is a known complication of Minoxidil absorption, as it probably comes about because of a slight drop in blood pressure. You might check your blood pressure with and without Minoxidil. I can’t address your brain fog other than through your blood pressure issues that may be present with the drug. Ask your doctor the question about the brain fog.

Why Did I Become Almost Bald In Only 4 Months Since October Of The Year 2014
It is related to my poor dental condition : 7 teeth cured but 1 tooth was so ill that i had an horrible pain it was devitalized IN OCTOBER (i don’t know if this word exists in english but i can’t find any translation) and now i have got an infection below another tooth.
Please tell me. I have no more hair on the vertex just a little on the mid and front scalp but very thin. IN early October, i was very hairy but i was wondering if i was going to be bald because of my very first stage or maybe second of the balding scale.
No one seems to care about me, i’m a 28 y.o. man with no Girlfriend and i didn’t want to go through such a nightmare.
I am not sure how poor dental hygiene or cavities can cause hair loss, but probably wont help in attracting a girlfriend either. Certainly poor health and medical illness (such as “poor dental condition”) can cause stress to your body and thus hair loss; however the most common cause of hair loss in men is genetic balding where you lose the hair is a certain “pattern”. Men in their 20’s often experience this genetic Male Pattern Balding (MPB).
