Press Release – Biologix Hair is Suspending SEC Reporting

Snippet from the press release —

Biologix Hair Inc. announced that it filed a Form 15 as notice of suspension of the duty to file periodic reports under Sections 13 and 15(d) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) August 1, 2013. The Company is thereby voluntarily suspending its reporting obligations under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.

As a result of filing Form 15, Biologix will no longer be required to file annual and quarterly reports with the SEC. The Company took this action in order to maximize management efficiency and cost effectiveness during its fast-paced development stage. The Company also aims to benefit from new capital-raising exemptions contained in the JOBS Act, which will allow registration exempt companies to raise up to $50 million in any 12-month period from accredited investors.

A few months ago, a company called Biologix Hair had a heavy PR campaign going to announce their “breakthrough” hair loss treatment. As a result, their stock was at one point approximately $5.00/share. It closed last week at 11 cents a share and they are being delisted from the NASDAQ. What does that tell you about the product/company?

I can’t help but wonder the number of people who got caught up in the hair treatment frenzy from this company, which you can learn more about at their site.

DHT Blocking Foods?

You mentioned in a tidbit that there were people who blocked DHT with eating large quantities of dht blocking foods. What might those be, and could we get similar results by ingesting these foods. By the way, thanks very much for doing this blog. It is extremely interesting and informative.

To the best of my memory, the drug finasteride was derived by work done in primitives who ate a tuber that was unique to the rain forest and contained this drug. I am not familiar with other foods that contain it. The high incidence of hermaphrodites in the population is what clued explorers into the uniqueness of the foods these people ate, mainly because the food was eaten by pregnant women, blocking the effects of DHT which is required to differentiate the sex of the offspring. If you find hermaphrodites somewhere eating large amounts of some unique food, that might be a good clue.

Proactive about hair loss?

I’m 17 and I’ve been lurking on various blogs and forums due to hair loss paranoia. Saw a post about shedding short hairs indicating AGA, freaked out, and saw a dermatologist. They said no significant thinning (other than a few vellus hairs on the left side of the hairline, which is normal )after looking at my hair under a microscope. Any advice on proactive hair loss detection since early intervention is the key…thanks

Forget about it for a year, and if you want, follow up with the dermatologist in a year or so, that might be a good idea. Hair loss from AGA is a slow process; there will be no surprises here.

Did My Conditioner Cause My Hair to Thin?

hi, im 17 and i have always had thick hair, though recently i have noticed that it has thinned out. This has happened around my ears and towards the back. Though my fringe is still very thick. I conditioned my hair very roughly a few weeks ago and continued so up until i noticed it a few days ago. Do you think the conditioner or the way i administered the conditioner has something to do with the thinning? and will it grow back?

I highly doubt that the use of hair conditioner has thinned your hair. Otherwise it would be called a hair thinner, rather than a hair conditioner. If for any remote possibility that hair conditioner was the cause of your hair thinning, you would have experienced hair thinning all over — not only “around ears and toward the back” as you describe.

Propecia and Blood Pressure Medication

Hi Dr: I am a 36 year old male. I have experienced hair loss and I would like to try Propecia (Finasteride). However, I am a heart patient and I take Toprol, Altace, Zetia, Plavix, Lipitor. Will the propecia interact with any of these? I have read that it may interact with blood pressure meds.

Thank you

If you are taking finasteride at the 1mg dose (Propecia), I would not worry about cross-reactivity. The official site does not mention a problem with the medications you listed. Minoxidil on the other hand, is an anti-hypertensive agent so if you mix it with the anti-hypertensive medication you take, you could drop your blood pressure further. Did the Laser Comb Damage My Hair?

Is it possible for a laser comb to do damage to hair or scalp? I’m female – senior citizen. I’ve been using laser comb for a couple months and my hair seems alot thinner, plus it goes in all different directions. I can’t seem to fix it anymore. I am not trying to put blame – a person with hair loss will try anything. I’m just asking for your opinion. If the comb has done damage, it is my own fault. Please answer. Could the comb be too warm for some people.

I have not heard any reports that parallel yours. I personally do not feel that the LaserComb (or similar) does much more than line the pockets of the company’s owners.

Propecia and High Blood Pressure

First of all, I’d like to say that this site is very informative, and thanks for providing it. My question concerns Propecia. I take high blood pressure medication, specifically a beta blocker (Toprol XL) and a diuretic (Triam-Hctz, the generic of dyazide). Are there any known cases of these types of drugs having an unfavorable reaction with Propecia? I ask only because a friend told me he once knew someone who had to stop taking it after having chest pains that he hadn’t had since he started his high bp meds. I would like to get on Propecia, but I’d rather be bald than have a heart attack. I’m just wondering if my friend was exagerrating.

There is no impact to my knowledge of Propecia on blood pressure medications or diuretics. The medication minoxidil (brand name Rogaine) may impact blood pressure as it was originally defined as a blood pressure medication. Maybe your friend is confusing the two.

Differin and Hair Loss

I have been using Differin topical solution on my forehead every night for nearly six years. I have recently noticed that I am losing hair that was transplanted three years prior. I did some research on the web, and there is some mention that other people (although few) seem to have experienced the same. The drug company and the prescribing dermatologist made no mention of hair loss being a potential side effect. In your professional opinion, is it possible that this topical derivative of vitamin A (related to the dreaded hair loss drug accutane) could be causing my transplanted hair to fall out after six years of use? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Differin is a topical medication used for the treatment of acne. Losing hair is not reported as a side effect of this medication, but many of the acne drugs do cause hair loss. See the doctor who prescribed the medications to evaluate your hair loss. Maybe you are losing your native hair. It would be unlikely (but possible) that a medication that you used for six years without any problem is now causing your hair loss.

Propecia and Starch Allergy

I had a quick question for you when you get a second. It relates to Propecia and Avodart, I am taking both. So far, my stomach has tolerated the treatment quite well. However, I have experienced a marked increase in shedding while on it. In fact, I really didn’t ever notice hair falling out until I starting the treatment. The two clear effects seem to be that my hair is thinning out considerably (especially along the frontal hairline, particularly front and center) and all of my hair has gotten considerably lighter (numerous people, including my family members, girlfriend, and coworkers have noticed and asked if I colored it). Which brings me to my question—do I need to be concerned about this? I don’t think I want to continue with a program that will exacerbate my hair loss. Is this shedding temporary (or at least is it temporary with Propecia)? The thinning in the front is made worse by the lighter color my hair has taken since I started the treatment.

Just concerned that Avodart may have been a big mistake. I am tempted to quit. But part of me wants to hold out, especially if the frontal hairs I have shed won’t return once I stop the program.

I would suggest stopping the Avodart, as that is not an FDA approved medication for hair loss. Propecia does contain pregelatinised maize starch and sodium starch glycollate as an inactive ingredient, but if you are tolerating it, then I would suppose that it is OK for you. I would really want to know more about how you know that you are allergic to starch? That would tell me much if I were to really advise you and what to do long term.

Disappearing Neck Hair (photo)

Note that in this photo, the neck hair in this man has already started to disappear. This is a genetic trait that is different from general Male Patterned Genetic Balding. For this reason, I never transplant the neck hair into the recipient area because this hair, in some men, is not permanent hair. Note the transition between the neck hair and the scalp hair at are about the occipital notch (base of the skull).
