Hair transplants breed a new type of tourist in Turkey

In Turkey, revenue from popular procedures adds to country’s $7B medical tourism industry

Doctors in Europe are feeling the pinch from competition from doctors in Istanbul Turkey and Iran who have set up hair transplant mills. This is similar to what the Russians did in the 1990s when setting up Cataract Mills for eye surgery. These are all FUE procedures and I doubt the ladies performing the FUE are all licensed doctors. It seems they are offering travel packages that cover air fare, hotel and the surgery for a 3 day stay. Of course, there is no guarantee of quality and there is no recourse if something goes wrong when these people return home after the surgery. Infections, if you get one, will have to be treated by a local doctor and if the procedure was not done right, the patient will not know for 8 months, which is the time that it takes for the hair to grow after a hair transplant. I suspect that the quality of the work ranges from good to poor, depending upon the clinic that is chosen. It is a bit of a gamble. Stay away from politics in either country or your stay may be longer than you planned.

Just wanted to update you all on my hair situation. I’m an amazing responder to minox apparently. I had previously, maybe 5 months ago, regrew my hair after being on min for 8 months. I quit and lost all my gains. Months later I decided to start again and in only about a month I got results.

My Grand-daughter has been told she has alopecia she’s only 4 years old. It started at her neck line in the back, it has now started coming out in the front. She has food allegies and she is on a medication for asthma. Can anything be done to get her hair to grow back?

There are a series of genetic alopecias that show up in young children. IF she has one of these condition, she may go on to develop Alopecia Totalis, which in effect causes all of the hair to fall out. This would include eyebrows as well. She needs to be worked up by experts in this field. Your dermatologist should be able to point you to those experts, but if he can not, send me an email (found on the Contact page).

I met with Dr. X in a paid consultation which costed me $150. I am 33 years old and my father also had a Class 3 pattern of balding, so I clearly took after him. I tried the drug Propecia, but I had sexual side effects. I knew that only a hair transplant would work for me. So, I shopped around and finally ended up with Dr. X. During the consultation, he said I was a good candidate, but he would not do my surgery. I asked him why, and he said I took too much time asking too many questions about what he would do. He said, “My patients trust me and don’t ask questions.” I was floored so I guess we both decided that we were not meant to be doctor and patient.

Arrogant to say the least, but he was honest. Best that you and he never worked out, because doctors like will never support you if anything goes wrong.

In the recent issue of the Economist, there were three significant articles that addressed significant, a really means significant, breakthroughs in three of the biggest polluting causes of Carbon Dioxide production. Worth Readings:

1. In New Zealand a discover that a certain type of seaweed if put into the feed of livestock that produce methane gas (cows, sheep, etc…) can reduce their methane production by about 2/3rds. It is actually healthier for the cattle. This problem is one of the leading causes of CO2 gas build-up in our atmosphere and it appears that a new industry is now being built in New Zealand to produce this new seaweed in for feed-stock.
2. In Australia, a company has figured out a way to produce concrete without the heavy CO2 product byproduct buildup in the atmosphere (may cause up to 5% of CO2 production world-wide). They have replaced the re-bar with fibers and change the chemistry of the curing process. The result is a better product that is lighter and will last longer with no significant maintenance. They are now tackling a huge bridge with this technology. It can apply to almost all concrete structures and as the advantage of no steel and therefor no rust buildup in bridges and other outside structures
3. Ships are now installing bubble produces on the bottom of the ships. The ships ride on a layer of bubbles. This decreases the fuel consumption by reducing friction and has the benefit of reduction of costs for fuel of between 5-10%. Most cruise ships are now going in this direction and many of the commercial ships are moving in this direction as well.

This means that maybe our children and their children will have a better world.

But does oral min have potentially less catastrophic or permanent side effects then what finasteride can allegedly have in some select people?

This is the reason each and every person being prescribed a medication needs a doctor. I can’t give you assurance that any drug is absolutely safe. Read the drug information that is easily supplied on the internet and then you must make a judgment with your doctor on what you want to do.

Time will tell. Longer hair will help. Please resend photos back to me in a couple of months. I am concerned that the blood supply to the donor area may have altered the color of your hair as well reduced the amount of hair significantly.
