Can I puck out the bad grafts on my hairline?

If you keep plucking the grafts and sooner or later the hair will not return. In those grafts that you pluck you will eventually kills these hairs. We call this traction alopecia but it may take quite a few pluckings to kill these hairs.

News Articles – Laser Hair Growth

In my daily research, I came across 2 articles worth mentioning…

When I read the stories in these links, it was clear that I, the reader, was being hyped. But when you are desperate for hair — losing more and more of it each and every day, depressed when you run your fingers through it and notice that there is less today than yesterday, see the hair go down the shower drain or come off on your fingers when you shampoo, and when you see the person in the mirror you immediately wonder, “Could that be me? NO WAY!” — you take notice of each and every story out there that could possibly lead to the solution. Are you getting the picture here? Put these thoughts in your head and then read those above ads posed as actual news and all of a sudden, there it is, the cure you have been looking for. Yeah, right. The hope offered by this Arizona-based hair center is about as refreshing as a glass full of air. At least it says they offer a money-back guarantee. I have reviewed the limited published results of these hand held lasers and there is no evidence I could find that indicates that they actually work. Hey, maybe I am wrong — I’ll continue to hold onto hope but I am not going to get into a fight to get my few hundred dollars back when the reality of this hand held laser hits me and I find out that the business entity that made the guarantee is in bankruptcy. That would just make me lose more hair thinking less of the guy in the mirror and more foolish.

Nizoral Safety?

Recently, I have noticed white spots all over my back and my chest. I personally believe that I caught a fungus from the tanning bed.

The dermatologist gave me a prescription for Nizoral tablets. His recommendation is to take two tablets, then exercise to sweat a couple hours after ingestion. Then, repeat the process with two more tablets one week later.

My questions is—are Nizoral tablets safe? I have heard that they are very taxing on the liver and may cause side-effects, one of which could be hairloss??? Will it most likely be safe for me to take this round of 4 tablets? Thank you

If a medical doctor prescribed you the medication for a condition he has diagnosed, then you should ask these questions and concerns to that doctor. I cannot stress enough the importance of a good patient to doctor relationship. BaldingBlog is not intended to give second medical opinions or diagnose medical problems. This site is here to educate the public from our professional experiences. That being said, anti-fungal medications are used to treat fungal infections. They may be toxic to the liver if taken in large doses and/or if you are particularly sensitive to that medication or have underlying liver problems. You should also know that other medications, such as Tylenol, are also toxic to the liver if taken in large doses.

Can I Tell in Advance If I Am Going to Get Sexual Side Effects from Finasteride?

I am a 23 y.o male thinking about trying Fin. Actually, I am open to all options, be it Minoxidil or Keto shampoo or whatever. Currently, I think I should wait until the 14th to see the results of the Brotzu trial everyone is raving about. In the meantime, I want to speak with some doctors to see their perspective on the drug. So, is there any way of telling the likelihood of Fin side effects? I read by some other posters on this subreddit that there is a 1 in 100,000 chance of ED. I was just wondering what your perspective might be? What would the procedure be with ensuring the highest chance of keeping my dick if I chose to use Fin? What about peppermint oil, rosemary oil, coconut oil, and other herbal remedies? Do you have any insight on these? Also, I just wanted to thank you for all your contributions to this subreddit. I have learned a great deal reading your comments.

There is no way to determine if you will get side effects, but people who are primed mentally are the ones that mostly get it. In reality, the risks are about 3%, and if you happen to be the 3%, there are ways to reduce the dose to address side effects that work in half of the men on the drug. Remember, if you believe this will happen to you, it will happen to you. When my son went on it, he thought he was taking his daily vitamin P, he told me. His sex drive went down, so he called me and asked if that was a side effect. I told him it was for about 3% of people.

Non-Hair-Loss News – Stem Cell “Enhanced” Facelift Caused Bones to Grow in Woman’s Eyelids

Snippet from the non-hair-loss article:

Her eyelid drooped stubbornly, and the area around her eye was somewhat swollen. Six and a half hours of surgery later, he and his colleagues had dug out small chunks of bone from the woman’s eyelid and tissue surrounding her eye, which was scratched but largely intact. The clicks she heard were the bone fragments grinding against one another.

About three months earlier the woman had opted for a relatively new kind of cosmetic procedure at a different clinic in Beverly Hills—a face-lift that made use of her own adult stem cells. First, cosmetic surgeons had removed some the woman’s abdominal fat with liposuction and isolated the adult stem cells within—a family of cells that can make many copies of themselves in an immature state and can develop into several different kinds of mature tissue.

Yikes. The article goes on to discuss possible dangers of unapproved stem cell treatments and how we should temper our excitement for these types of treatments so that serious illness research isn’t put in jeopardy.

Norwood Class 6 Patient Just 10 Days After Surgery (with Photos)

Hi Doctors,
I’m schedule for surgery with Dr Pak and the last time I was there I forgot to ask to see an example of what I might look like a week or so after surgery. I’m taking a week off from work since I have a ton of vacation time saved up anyway so I’m not concerned about what my scalp will look like during that time. I just didn’t want to go back to work with a swollen head or something. Can you post some photos of a patient that Dr Pak has done? Thanks

Here’s a recent patient of Dr. Pak‘s that has agreed to show his full face (and results) to the world. He’s very excited about the future of his hair, and although these photos are only 10 days out of surgery, you can see that he’s on the right track. There’s no redness, no scabbing, no swelling (nor did he have any swelling immediately after the procedure)… things are looking great. This is typical with follicular unit transplantation surgery in the hands of an experienced doctor and team, and of course with proper aftercare washing. The patient has a Norwood Class 6 hair loss pattern and had a single procedure of 2468 grafts. I’d like to point out that the grafts were kept at a 1/4″ length at the time of transplant.

Can you experience miniaturization without shedding your hair?

My hair stopped shedding about 6 months ago. When I’m in the shower now I get maybe 1-3 hairs on my hands between shampooing and conditioning. However, my hair definitely looks thinner at the crown and temples than it did a year ago.

My question is: Even though I’m not shedding, can the miniaturization process still be occurring and causing me to lose hair?

Here are my stats: -48 years old -noticed thinning at crown about 12 years ago

  • hair is now visibly thin at crown and temples. You can see scalp through the hair.

  • started shedding just over a year ago when urologist prescribed a testosterone booster and an AI. I quit taking them about 11 months in when I noticed shedding (10-12 hairs when I shampoo’d). I quit the meds and shedding stopped 4-5 months later.

  • I eat healthy, take a men’s multi vitamin and shampoo with biotin and nizoral.

  • I haven’t tried finasteride or min yet because I’m scared of the side effects.

Yes, you can experience miniaturization without shedding.
