Not Hair Loss News – High Fiber Diet Prevents Prostate Cancer Progression

Snippet from the non-hair-loss article:

Eating food high in fiber may help control the progress of prostate cancer in people who are diagnosed with early stages of the disease, according to a new study.

The study was based on the observation that although prostate cancer incidence in Asian countries is same as in the West, the cancer rarely progress in Asian men. Researchers argue that the high-fiber diet may play a role in keeping the cancer from progressing.

The study was conducted on a set of mice that were either fed with inositol hexaphosphate (IP6), that’s found in high fiber diet or a diet without this component. Then, researchers used MRI to check the progress of the cancer in these mice.

It’s Not Healthy to Be a Night Owl and Stay up Late at Night

According to a New Scientist, Article 21, April 29, 2018, Northwestern University in Chicago reported that “People who prefer to stay up late seem to have a greater risk of dying early. A six year study of 500,000 people in the UK has found that those who are night owls were 10% more likely to die in that period.”

In this group of night owls, they also “found higher rates of diabetes, mental health problems and neurological conditions. They were also more likely to experience psychological stress, use drugs or alcohol, and not get enough exercise or sleep.”

Why Can’t My Transplanted Frontal Area Have a Density Equal to What It Was Originally There in a Single Surgery?

The recipient area density is never equal to the original density, nor should it be because all of the donor hair would be used up. Also, there are mechanical limits on how closely a doctor can place the grafts to allow sufficient space and blood supply for good healing

I Am Now 6 Days After Surgery and Have Developed a Lot of Pimples, What Do I Do? (Photo)

At 6 days, it is almost certainly an infection. There are some crusts that are partially removed, and they could create a point for the introduction of bacteria. This is why I am obsessed with washing the hair immediately after the surgery. I want my patients to continue doing so every day. My goal is to keep the crusts off. You should return to see your doctor and ask to be examined. If it is an infection or a folliculitis, he/she will know how to treat it.

Charging by the graft?

Do you know why some docs like Hasson/Wong/Rahal say they can do a 3500-4000 graft FUT procedure and charge per graft, while others say they’ll they’ll just take out a strip and transplant however many grafts they get, charging a flat rate and say that they can usually only get 2000 or so grafts in a single FUT session (assuming a second FUT session). There seem to be two camps of doctors: one aggressive, charging per graft and indicating a large number extracted from a strip, while others conservative, charging a flat rate and indicating they will probably only be able to get about 2000 at most depending on laxity.

I can’t speak for other doctors and why they do what they do. I have always charged per graft because that reflected the amount of work, the size of the staff needed and the value to the patient. Also, by estimating grafts yield, I can tell the patient what to expect and also address the donor supply that remains which can then be calculated into a Master Plan for the future balding of that surgery patient. I am big on long term strategic planning and that includes what future costs might be for my patients as the balding progresses.

On Minoxidil for 6 Months. Just Started Finasteride (Photo)

What minoxidil has done after nearly 6 months, my existing hair looks worse and bald spot looks bigger…. I’ve been on fin for like a month and 2 weeks, I think I should taper off it now before it does any more damage any input?

The finasteride will take up to a year to see the value. I would stay on the minoxidil. You have to be patient!

Chest pain with minoxidil

Been feeling a little pressure on the left side of my chest the last days, I’ve been on minoxidil for almost 2 months now and it just started. Now I’m not claiming these sides are common or anything, if you’re starting minox you shouldn’t be discouraged by my results. My question is, do these tend to subside or get worse as time goes by, and did anyone experienced the same?

Chest pain when taking minoxidil is a problem, and maybe you should see your doctor to make sure that you don’t have heart problems. Minoxidil is a hypotensive agent and is known to cause a drop in blood pressure.
