I Have Been on Finasteride for 3 Months and My Right Nipple Breast Looks Bigger Than the Left. Do I Have Gynecomastia? (Photo)

Yes. If this is a change, then it is possible that you have developed early gynecomastia of the right breast. If there are no lumps (painful or otherwise), then you should see your doctor for advice on what to do.

Smelly Hair

i have hair but it smells awful i wash it daily but the smell goes away for only a few minutes, anyway it keeps me from doin stuff like datin hangin out, simple things.

You might want to get a doctor to examine you to understand the problem. I can imagine many conditions that may contribute to this, but a good examination is the best approach if you wash it thoroughly. I might wash it in my office, and then observe what good washing can do versus what you are doing; maybe there is a difference just on that level. Our office has good washing facilities for our patient hair washes which we do after all surgeries.

Finasteride and Bone Density?

First of all thanks for the valuable information on this site.

I am using finasteride from last 3 years. No side effects have been noticed. My question is about the bone density. I heard that using this medicine for long period reduces the calcium levels and makes the bones weak. Is this true?

thanks.

That is false. Bone density is not related to the use of finasteride, even in experimental studies in rats.

How does a person’s body manage the Iron Oxides in your SMP pigment?

We do not have any heavy metals or any type of metals in our pigments. Our pigments are purely organic and as a result you don’t have to worry about an MRI which can pull on the pigments and cause redness and pain or have your body react to substances it can not absorb. Many SMP doctors, cosmetologists and tattoists use pigments that contain some dangerous looking stuff in the solutions. We did an analysis of a ‘competitors’ pigment and after it was burned in the lab, the lab found the following material left in the remnants. You judge if this is what you want in your body, not me. This is why we use only organic pigments in our SMP pigments.

If you are correctly wondering why the FDA does not control such substances with potential harm, the answer is that the FDA has told congress that they do not have the funds or the staff to investigate the tattoo industry. Within the United States, 22% of adults have had a tattoo with the type of materials shown in the chart below.

Soccer Player Wayne Rooney’s Hair Transplant

Just would like to share with everyone a recent post by Wayne Rooney (professional soccer player with Manchester United) who recently admitted to a hair transplant procedure in the British Daily Mail

The FUE procedure shows a radical improvement in terms of density in the photos immediately after the procedure. I can only assume that the results with improve dramatically in the months to come. Based on the cost posted ($30,000 pounds), I would assume that 4000 grafts were transplanted. I thought that 2000 was a realistic number based on FUE. Wesley Sneijder (another professional soccer player with Inter Milan in Italy), also has the procedure done last year. For men in their twenties, FUE would appear to be the way to go if you can afford it. Especially if you like to keep your hair short as they do. Anyway, just thought that this would be an interesting story to share with your followers. Thanks for all your great and informative work!

I’ve seen quite a bit in the news about Wayne Rooney, and I must admit I had no idea who he was before learning he had a hair transplant. I don’t follow soccer. The hairline shown in the photo he posted looks like it was placed high and perfectly rounded with a few little zig-zags to break it up, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see once the results grow out.

Does Finasteride and/or Dutasteride reduce bone density?

This is an interesting question which required some reading on my part. I found an a scholarly article in the Journal of Urology which addresses this question and concludes: “Profound suppression of circulating serum dihydrotestosterone induced by 5?-reductase inhibitors during 1 year does not adversely impact bone, serum lipoproteins or hemoglobin, and has a minimal, reversible effect on serum prostate specific antigen and sexual function in normal men. Circulating dihydrotestosterone does not appear to have a clinically significant role in modulating bone mass, hematopoiesis or lipid metabolism in normal men.?”?

The clinical doses for these drugs is relatively low so I believe that the article is discussing these low doses

Spectral RS

Please refer to this link and comment please on this product now for sale by Target. Is this something you have heard of? Is it worthwhile/proven?

please take the time to review: Spectral at Target

From what I’ve read, Spectral RS is the same as Spectral DNC, apparently just without minoxidil. More has been written about it on the HairLossHelp forum. The manufacturer of this product states, “When used alone, Spectral RS is not meant for androgenic alopecia (genetic male pattern baldness). For maximum results in the treatment of androgenic alopecia we recommend the use of Spectral DNC — a topical treatment containing Minoxidil.” In other words, it is a fancy hair lotion that by their own admission does not regrow hair. They’re telling you that you need to add their other product (the one with minoxidil) to actually see results.

There are only two medications as yet that are FDA approved and proven to grow hair for male pattern baldness — Propecia (finasteride) and Rogaine (minoxidil) — and even these drugs have great limitations. It seems millions (if not billions) of dollars are spent on the elusive cures for hair loss. As always, it is a buyer beware market.

Finasteride ED Paranoia (from Reddit)

I recently started taking finasteride(3 weeks ago) and put a post up about my fears of gynecomastia. I can confidently say thats not happening to me as my paranoia thought ( after doing some blood tests and consulting my doc). I was extremely paranoid for that too. Luckily its pretty easy to prove wrong. However, i noticed my attention started to go towards my performance with mini me (penis). I never complained about my performance for 2 weeks. Only after i stopped paying attention to my chest did this kick in. I masturbated 6 times in the last 32 hours to prove myself that i dont have ED. Each time i was able to orgasm. I noticed that it wouldn’t get fully erect when i was thinking about finasteride and its side effects. After the second go, it got more difficult to get it up ( which i expect has to do with round 1&2) I never focused on my performance prior to this so i cant really compare. So right now im not sure if i have ED or just paranoid. Essentially is there anyway i can prove that i dont have ED or do? I stopped finasteride for now until i am sure. Im aware that the percent of placebo reporting ED and finasteride ED are really close percentages. Btw if you need a more info about my performance to make a decision, please ask me. Im not shy. Morning wood is a good sign but i haven’t seen that so much since i started smoking weed b4 bed (been doing that for about a year). So what are key signs that would mean you have ED?

Stan Lee’s Unusual Hairline

What’s up with comic book legend Stan Lee’s hairline? I’ve been watching a show he hosts on History Channel and his hairline is bugging me. Is it a flap or something? It looks like there’s a white line right around the edge of it. It’s a very unusual shape, but if it was a flap wouldn’t the color on top be the same as on the sides? I guess he could dye it though. What do you think?

Stan LeeYears ago, there were a variety of surgeries that produced many deformities in people that wanted to get hair. They were courageous enough to “lead the pack” of people getting hair transplants, but the worst of the deformities were the old plugs (pencil size grouping of hairs put into corn rows that looked like doll’s hair).

Since I entered the hair restoration field 20 year ago, I have treated many men who had these procedures in the 1950s – 1990s. Most of these men sought a fix-it solution, with the two most effective being:

  1. Excision of the grafts where the hair in these big plugs was removed and then divided into follicular units and then re-transplanted
  2. Camouflage the plugs with natural hair placed in front to hide and bury the grafts if the plugs were high on the head

Fortunately, many of the old plugs did not have even a 50% survival of the hairs, so the impact was benefited from the poor techniques of those original transplants. Despite this, the skin from the transplanted grafts lived, creating a cobblestone effect on the scalp that added to the ‘dolls head’ deformities. These unfortunate pioneer recipients of hair transplants suffered ridicule by everyone — their friends talked behind their backs, and those who were in the public eye were tagged with not-so-pleasant names. One celebrity that comes to mind told me that comedians were very cruel with their jokes about his hair plugs. In the first 10 years of my practice in this business, I performed hair restoration repairs on many men, making great friends along the way, including this one particular celebrity whose nightmare ended after the transplants grew.

Based on some photos I’ve seen using Google Image Search, I believe that Stan Lee had some corrective surgery to fix what might have been the old type of plugs. There’s a high-resolution photo here. The scar in front on the left side and the imbalance between the two sides suggest this to me. If I were to see him and could find enough hair still present, I would excise the plugs that remain and rebuild a new hairline in the normal position. With his white hair, this should be relatively easy.
