Mexico Had Decided to Pay for the Wall

This is the first political statement I made on baldingblog.com but I had to post this after receiving this picture from a close friend.

Autoimmune Disease causes thinning

This patient has thinning in the front and top of their head. The leading edge of the frontal hairline shows loss of vellus hairs suggestive of an autoimmune disease such as LLP, FFA or CCA. This patient should NOT get a hair transplant because it will fail. This is why you need a skilled doctor who knows how to make a diagnosis that tells that this is not a hair transplant case

Microneedling and Minoxidil for 3 months

There is a huge movement to using microneedling plus minoxidil for stimulating hair growth shown nicely in this man. I wish the photos were more comparable. Many young men are doing this themselves with a low cost (some pain with the microneedling).

I Have Let My Hair Grow Out 3 Months and the Back of My Head Looks like It Is Balding

You have significant donor site depletion. This problem is caused by over-harvesting the grafts from your FUE three months earlier. The only thing you can do is to get Scalp MicroPigmentation, which will hide the balding spots, but it will not add hair.

Microneedling, Minoxidil, Finasteride and Much More in a One Hour Treatment Session

The name stands for Microinfusion of Skin Medications (by it’s acronym in portuguese). This technique is meant to use a device that combines the technique of microneedling (or micro-holes in the skin) with medication injection. What is injected is minoxidil, finasteride and growth factors. The treatment also includes LED light 15min before and 15min after the procedure. I also heard they use PRP. The duration of the procedure is approximately 1 hour. It is meant to be 1 session per month for 3 months, after which it will be spaced every 2-3 months until it reaches only 1 session per year.

Each session is approximately 100 dollars. They also prescribe lotions, shampoos and medications to induce hair growth. She posted a pic on her page of a guy with quite good results, but those were in the top on the head and not in the temples like me (NW1-NW2ish).

It sound believable to you? I guess that it seems possible as it uses medications that are proven to encourage hair loss while at the same time is not applied orally so side effects could be avoided to a degree. And as being injected I suppose that the effects of minoxidil could be increased. But off course, I’m not knowledgeable on the theme so I couldn’t tell. I’m from Peru. Thanks in advance.

The micro-needling with minoxidil has been shown to have value. Unless the finasteride is in a skin absorbable preparation like a liposomal compound, it will not work at all. The LED probably will not hurt but probably will not help either. Good luck.

Bald men appear to have a higher risk of severe Covid-19 infections and possibly death

Dr. Rassman’s Comments: Reflecting on things we have known for some time: ‘men seem to die 2.4 times more than women for Covid-19’. Now there seems to be evidence that balding men somehow have a higher risk of death compared to non-balding men with regard to complications for Covid-19 as it relates the way the virus interacts with testosterone levels. The mechanism here and the full evidence is yet unclear.

Miniaturization and Hair Loss – More Than Meets the Eye

Here’s essentially a summary of what I’ve written in the past about miniaturization. This is just about as to-the-point as I can get with what the miniaturization mapping is and why it is important. For more in-depth text on miniaturization and mapping, please see: Miniaturization: Critical to the Master Plan for Hair Loss.

Miniaturization is part of the balding process where hair shafts become thinner over time before falling out. Thickness and the general health of hair can be measured by examining it under a special microscope, called a densitometer, for signs of miniaturization. Increased miniaturization in certain patterns, reflect a progression of balding. In addition, miniaturization and detectable hair loss is not evident to the naked eye until more than 50% of normal (non-miniaturized) hair is lost. As a result, many men/women do not seek help until significant miniaturization has already taken place.

At New Hair Institute, we feel that mapping the scalp hair for miniaturization is critical in establishing the guidelines for the treatment of hair loss. Mapping measures the miniaturization and density on different areas on the scalp, providing us with a ‘roadmap of data’ to quantifiably measure the current health of the hair. When a medical treatment (such as finasteride or Propecia) is started we can document its effectiveness with the initial and periodic measurements for miniaturization.

The responsiveness of each patient with drug treatment is different, so each patient must be diligent in acquiring follow up measurements to the degree of miniaturization and the location of the miniaturization by scalp area. Without quantifiable measurements for hair loss, there is no clinical science in the treatment, just hocus-pocus and blustering, a problem that is far too prevalent today.

If you are balding, you should have your scalp hair mapped for miniaturization to (1) estimate the pattern of hair loss now and for future loss, and (2) measure the starting point for miniaturization so that changes measured over time, can be followed. These measurements are very fast and easy. It is today’s Standard of Care that should be available to every balding patient wanting a Master Plan, for treatments appropriate to their future hair loss.

Bald Spots From Hair Dye

Can you get bold spots in different places of the scalp (patches) from coloring the hair? Product used was Loreal. No patch test was done first.

One can develop allergic reactions to hair products. If that happens, stop using them. You can then try a test spot to be sure. Make sure that these spots are not skin diseases like alopecia areata. A good doctor should be able to tell you if that is the case.

Minoxidil 3 Months

These are my results after 3 months on Minoxidil. More specifically, The MinoxidilMax formulation version WITHOUT Propylene Glycol. I used the regular Kirkland brand minoxidil but after 5 months or so my scalp began to get extremely irritated and Itchy as HELL. By the end, my scalp was covered in acne sort of? They were like pimples or blisters but they wouldn’t pop no matter how hard i squeezed them. So it was most likely inflammation due to the irritation. I didnt get on Minoxidil for a cool 7 months after. Tried Kirkland brand again and the inflammation immediately came back within weeks. So I searched for one without PG(Propylene Glycol). The only one i could find was this one by MinoxidilMax. For anyone having the same issue, its called “Essengen-5 Fast Dry” and its sold on their website. They do ship within the United States and it arrives fairly quickly. I highly highly recommend it for anyone who is extremely sensitive to propylene glycol like I was.

Am I Balding or Just Developing a Maturing Hairline? One Side Is Slightly Higher Than the Other.

This sounds like a maturing hairline. While it is maturing, it is not unusual for one side to move up slightly ahead of the other side. It could also be an early recession, but at this stage, I would not worry about it. Just keep an eye on it. If you are really worried, see a doctor with a HAIRCHECK instrument to find out if there is any balding that you can’t visually see.
