Can Minoxidil be in the form of a hair styling wax? The current minoxidil products on the market are mainly spray, foam or gel form.

Minoxidil topical is used to grow hair, but you need to put it on your scalp, not hair. So if you make it into a wax for styling purposes, it would not be doing any good (unless you want to cake it on your scalp).
I have marked up the areas that are thinning that may lead to complete balding. The forelock has a different genetic code and may remain in some men so this man has an evolving Norwood Class 5 pattern that could eventually lead to a Class 6 pattern as many such patterns do. You have at this time a persistent forelock that may eventually be lost along with the bridge area defined in the photo as well. If you are lucky and the forelock lasts until you are 35, it will hold a frame to your face for many years after

I can’t tell if your question is about another clinic or doctor at NHI. If it’s elsewhere, just call the doctor and ask. Most patients we treat with finasteride at NHI are prescribed the 5mg dose to save costs, and they are instructed to take 1/4 pill a day.
I’ve heard stories about people who quit fin after 10 or so years and feel so much more better, or people who suddenly start experiencing side effects after a long time of taking fin. Is fin safe to take over a long term period?
I have been on it for years and many of my patients as well. If you don’t get the sexual side effects (which are real in 2-4% of men), then most of the changes over decades on the drug are most likely related to normal changes seen in men who develop Erectile Dysfunction.

I just read an article from a writer for the local paper about her 100 pound weight loss following gastric bypass, which is something I’ve considered doing for myself. One thing that stuck out to me was that she says, “One common post-surgery side effect is hair loss. And I have been losing my hair. I knew about this before surgery, so I am dealing with it. I don’t like it, but it will grow back, and I have also lost most of my eyebrows, but that too will grow back.” See article here.
So my question is, how common is this loss? Scalp hair loss is a problem in itself, but to lose my eyebrows too would be devastating. How long could something like this take to regrow (or will it not regrow)? My husband visits this site quite frequently and when I mentioned the story, he suggested I write to you. A gastric bypass surgery causes weight loss and in many cases can produce signs of malnutrition. Weight loss is often associated with hair loss, particularly in men who have genetic hair loss. For women who do not have genetic hair loss, the hair loss may reverse as nutrition gets better and the weight stabilizes, but for men with genetic hair loss, it often accelerates the genetic process. For men in this situation, it’s best to take finasteride prior to having the gastric bypass, and maintaining this drug for life. Even with the DHT block offered by the drug finasteride, hair loss may still occur.
The good news is that hair transplantation can be used to replace the lost hair in the same way as in a person with hair loss that didn’t have the gastric bypass. As far as eyebrow loss, it would be unusual, but again, hair transplants into the eyebrow easily can solve that problem as well.

I have heard from reliable sources that Donald Trump has had more than one scalp surgery to treat balding over 20 years ago. Many people who have had the older types of hair transplant procedures from the 1980s and 1990s often received deforming procedures that caused significant scarring on the scalp. Visible deformities can be covered up with good styling camouflage. Putting things together and relating it to my vast experience with patients who came to me to treat such deformities with ‘comb-overs’ or ‘comb-forward’ hair styles to hide these hideous deformities, I would guess that Donald Trump is a victim of these old surgical procedures and uses his now distinct hair style to cover it up. As long as he maintains this hair style and does not lose more hair, he will hold his iconic look.
The good news is that most people who were so victimized, have since come to be repaired with the more modern techniques developed over the past 20 years or so. Vice President Joe Biden is a good example of a politician who used to have a pluggy frontal hairline. Now, he proudly shows off a nice, frontal hairline with no evidence of any preexisting problems. I suspect, that Donald Trump is hiding something similar, using his dyed blonde hair and his ‘comb-forward’ hair style to hide his secret.
Basically from what I’ve seen discussed, when people get hair transplants, they move hair from the sides/back of head to the top. This sometimes leads to scarring, so what people do is the keep the sides/back a bit longer to conceal it. If i were to get a hair transplant would I still be able to get skinfade haircuts like this or would I be required to keep the sides/back long due to scarring or any other reason
The answer to that question is: (1) depends upon your donor density, the higher it is, the less the problem, (2) it depends upon hair thickness, the higher it is, the less the problem, (3) it depends upon how many FUE grafts were taken and transplanted and (4) it depends upon your hair length, the longer it is, the less will be the problem.

I am a little confused on what shampoo I should be using.I was using johnsons & johnsons baby shampoo but a doctor suggested that I make the switch to Head & Shoulders containing 1% zinc pyrithione as this product has been known to thicken hair & even slow down hairloss. However,other arm chair experts on various hairloss forums have compared head & shoulders to sulfuric acid & claim it will thin out my hair even more.
Can shampoo have such an adverse effect on hairloss ? What are your thoughts on this product & can you recomend a shampoo ?

Any reasonable commercial shampoo will work just fine and have no impact on thinning. What you could do is try different brands and then settle on the one you like. There are shampoos for dry and for oily hair, shampoos that give your hair more character and make it wave more. It is a trial and error process.
