Scalp MicroPigmentation SMP Review of Eyebrow Scar and Scalp Scar with Thinning

This is a review of a Scalp MicroPigmentation performed at the New Hair Institute Medical Group. The following patient had a eye brow scar indent which he tried to mask with tattoos many years ago. He also had a hair transplant that did not work out well for him as he continued to lose hair. He did not want to have another surgery and just wanted to keep his hair shorter for a younger look. The problem was the hair transplant scar and the generalized thinning all over. He also was self conscious about his eyebrow thinning and eyebrow scar.

SMP was performed over his short hair cut (without shaving the head). In addition Juvederm was injected the the indent in his eyebrow scar to smooth out the edges. Finally, SMP was applied to his eyebrows for a full eyebrow appearance.

Scalp MicroPigmentation SMP Pigments and MRI

Hypothetical question: would it be safe for someone who had SMP done to undergo an MRI test? I thought most tattoo inks contain metal and thus, anyone with a tattoo could not get an MRI test. Just wondering if this also applies to SMP?

SMP is a form of tattoo. Tattoo pigment or SMP pigments may contain iron oxide. Iron oxide can theoretically interfere with MRI tests.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) with Bold Look

This young man decided to shave his head and with the help of scalp micropigmentation (SMP) he looks like he has a full head of hair and maximizes this good looks. This is an option that is being taken up more and more by young men wanting a perfect looking head of hair, even when they are balding and our practice is booming performing this procedure. This is a non-surgical process that can be performed on any many with any degree of balding provided that he shaves his head like the man below.

Scalp MicroPigmentation Review of Female Traction and Triangle Alopecia

This is a review of a SMP procedure performed at New Hair Institute Medical Group. This is a female patient who had traction alopecia from wearing her hair pulled back too tight. She also had a component of triangle alopecia. SMP diminished the contrast between skin and hair. Note: patient also colored her hair on the after photo.

Scalp MicroPigmentation (SMP) Review with Depleted Donor Area, Scarring & Thinning – Before & After Photos

This patient had almost everything that could go wrong with hair transplantation including: Scalp reductions, multiple hair transplants and depletion of his donor area from the multiple surgeries in the past. More hair transplants were not an option. His results showed thinning but on the brighter side of things, he felt that he did not look bald when he kept his hair longer and styled it appropriately. He was still not satisfied with his hair and the coverage of his hair restoration procedures. He did not like the large multiple white scars on he back of his head which showed up on windy days or with swimming. He decided he would try Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) to enhance his appearance, address the scars and have SMP under the thin hair on the top to make it look a bit thicker. He still has thinning hair but SMP helped hide the scar and gave him the illusion of more fullness on the top of his head.

Tom decided to have Scalp MicroPigmentation but his original efforts to tackle balding started with his first hair transplant when he was 19 years-old. Now at 47, he reports on the real price he paid for a poor decision when the technology was very primitive some 30 years ago. A hair transplant on any genetically balding 19 year-old male is considered malpractice today. The quality of Tom’s life was negatively impacted by his hair transplant due to the terrible results. Not only was the technology of 30 years ago poor but the doctor never treated him as a human being and never told him what he was getting into. Most of the old “plugs” didn’t even grow, left him with scars and made him self-conscious about his appearance for 30 years.

“I want to take the time and thank you for liberating me. I have been wearing hair systems for almost 17 years and the thought of not being burdened by the discomfort or constant maintenance of wearing it anymore is priceless. The hair system cost me thousands of dollars over the years. Having SMP is one of the best decisions that I have made. I no longer worry about my scalp, my hair system or the money I had to pay out every couple of years for a new hair system”.
