Why Do You Carry Revivogen In Your Office Now?

Dr. Rassman,

I noticed you sell Revivogen in your office. I thought you do not endorse or believe these products work! What gives?

For the record, I do not endorse many products out there. I still maintain my buyer beware mantra, and I will be the first to say this to all my patients. But I also recently acquired a Dermatology / Cosmetic practice (Wilshire Center for Dermatology) and expanded my medical services with new physicians who offer non-hair related services.

The office also sells a variety of skin and hair care products, and Revivogen is just one of the many products we offer. Revivogen is a natural supplement (non-medical) line of products.

Why Do Some Men Lose Hair Much Later in Life?

since we know DHT is a cause of hairloss, why do some people start showing sings of male pattern baldness later in life? I know a few family friends pople who have had extremely thick beautiful hair norwood 1, with no signs of balding in their 40’s and late 40’s. then in their 50’s they started get thin and crown balding. if dht is the cause then i’m sure these guys had dht in their body in there 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s. why all of a sudden in there 50’s the dht decided to choke the follicles?

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the cause of hair loss when it is associated with the genetic disposition of male pattern baldness. The genes that cause hair loss are preprogrammed and often express themselves at different ages.

For example, some men and women get grey hair in their 20’s, whereas some never do. Most men with the balding gene will go bald in their 20’s and 30’s, but there are always exceptions to the rule as you pointed out.

Why Do Older Men Get Bushy Eyebrows?

Is there a medical answer for why whenever men get older they loose the hair on thier head and thier eyebrows get bushier?

I believe that the explanation of this is related to the effects of DHT. Included are other “benefits” such as:

  1. The appearance of nose hair
  2. The appearance of ear hair
  3. Increase in body hair
  4. A more coarse beard

You can’t just select one of these secondary sex characteristics probably caused by DHT, but I have seen a couple of patients who took finasteride (Propecia) and found that they lost some or all of their chest hair. They did not report the impact on their nose or ear hair, however.

Why do miniaturized hairs lose color?

I still have a full crown hair wise but you can clearly see the skin, the hairs are transparent, they have basically no pigmentation and that’s why it looks very thinning. What is the underlying science behind loss of pigmentation in AA? I couldn’t find any studies on the web

Miniaturized hairs often lose pigment and color because the hair follicle production is impaired and continues to get worse as the process progresses. As the hairs get thinner and thinner, they contain less pigment and eventually become clear (see-through) as the pigment cells in these hairs die. These hairs also often stop growing before eventually falling out completely.

Why Do I Have To Wait 30 Days To Donate Blood After Stopping Propecia.

I ‘ve been taking propecia for the past 4 years but now I really wish to donate blood at least once in my lifetime.
As you know Finasteride users are not allowed to donate blood. According to one of your previous posts Finasteride is cleared from the blood stream within 48 hours.

So I planned to stop taking propecia for a week, donate blood and resume taking the pill. A week seemed a reasonable
amount of time also because according to the information I found on the internet, DHT levels take a whole week to be
back to normal once you stop taking it.

Unfortunately, however both on the Red Cross site and other sites, they state you need to wait at least 30 days after
the last dose of Finasteride.

Why do I need to stop for a whole month if Finasteride is cleared from my blood stream within a few days? Wouldn’t say,
two weeks be safe enough?

You need to wait a month because that is the policy of the Red Cross. Two weeks may be “safe” but you have to follow the organization’s policy.

Why Do I Have Gray Pubic Hair?

I have noticed 2-3 grey pubic hair, why is it happening? will all my pubic hair turn grey. My age is 24 and i am a female. will cutting grey pubils hair be safe?

In general, women start developing gray hair at around age 35, though this is dependent on your genes. Melanin produced by each hair follicle is what gives hair its color, and this is affected by genetics. I would not stress too much about this. Gray hair anywhere on your body is a genetic process and there is nothing to do to change the color — other than to dye it, cut it, or pluck it.

Why Do I Have a Patch of Thin Hair Above My Right Ear?

Dear Doc,
I have been experiencing hairloss for the past 8 months. I still have a good amount of hair it’s just become alot thinner. My problem is that on my right side about 4cm above my ear I have a patch that has gone extremely thin. It’s not bald but it looks as if someone has got a pair of clippers and shaved a chunk of my hair hair off – it looks rather odd. The other side is fine. Why do think this has happened? Thanks.

Some people have a different genetic trait in the area above the ears. It is usually on both sides and frequently present for a long time. There are a variety of hair conditions that can cause patchy hair loss or thinning. You need to see a good dermatologist for an examination and an opinion. You should also get your hair mapped out for miniaturization to see if this is happening in other parts of your scalp.

Why Do I Have a High Forehead?

hi i am a 16 year old male and for as long as i have known i have had a high forehead. my hairline is straight not receded but when i push up my eyebrows my highest wrinkle is just short of an inch below my hairline. i have never noticed any change of my hairline so what could be the problem.

We see wide variations in the construct of people’s faces. I remember a hairline that I put back which was less than an inch from the eyebrows. The man told me that it was his family mark and that he wanted to look like everyone else in the family. It would not have been my choice, but it was his. You can always move it if you do not like it, but at 16, I would want to get your parents involved in any and all decisions with regard to altering your hairline.

Why Do Humans Have Eyelashes?

Eye lashes are 1/3rd as long as eyes are wide. This is true, not only for most humans of all races, but for 21 other mammal species as well. This is the body’s spectacular engineering to control the air flow around the eye to keep dust out and moisture in, reports Dr. David Hu of the Georgia Institute of Technology this year (Journal of the Royal Society interface). He was able to determine this by computer modeling the air flow around the eye as lash length changed. “By reducing airflow over the corneas, eyelashes create a boundary layer of slow-moving air around the eye”, reports The Economist, February 28, 2015.
