I had 2500 FUE grafts, can I repeat it again?

The picture shows heavy donor site depletion suggesting that the 2,500 grafts you had were too many for your donor area density. This suggests that you had a lower original donor density prior to your original FUE and any more FUEs taken from your donor area will make you look balder in the back of the head. A strip surgery is an option but this is something that you and your doctor need to discuss. You might consider a strip surgery for more grafting.

See here for the limits for FUE surgery defined in one of my previous post in the Hair Transplant Forum: https://baldingblog.com/2017/07/21/many-fue-grafts-many-fues-grafts-one-know-safe-limits/

I had 2000 grafts one year ago, can I repeat it now?

The average Caucasian has 6,000-7,000 hair grafts, the average Asian or African has 80% of those numbers, so you can do it again with some to spare. It is not uncommon to repeat the surgery a second time for more density.

I had 2000 grafts 8 months ago, what should I do with these poor results? (photo)

At 8 months after a hair transplant, I would expect to see more growth. Go back to meet with your doctor and ask your doctor questions. I would expect to see more growth and I would hope that your doctor would take responsibility for the failure and make it ‘right’ financially for you. I would, but fortunately, I almost never see this type of problem.

I Had 2 Hair Transplants, Both Times Hair Didn’t Grow

I had hair transplants twice, 1500 and 800. Each time hair grew for 8 to 10 months then most fell out. The doctor was in first year doing hair transplants. He said something is wrong with me. He said they should have grown. What do you think happen? Thanks

This does not sound kosher to me. If the new hair grew, it should have kept growing. Did it really grow? Did you lose native hair rather than transplanted hairs? You need a second opinion that you can trust.

I grew my hair out for two years. When I cut it, I had noticeably less hair.

I am a 21 year old male. I grew my hair out for two years. 2 months ago, I buzzed my head. I noticed I hd significantly less hair. While I had long hair, I would pull my hair out from time to time due to knots etc. It’s been two months, and my hair is longer, but the total quantity of hair is still less than pre-long hair. Any possible causes/how can I help my hair grow back? No noteworthy baldness in the family or anything.
Hair length is clearly better for a fuller look when your hair density is low because you need the length of hair to produce hair bulk.

I Grew My Hair Long — Should Bangs Look Thinner Than the Rest of My Hair?

Hi Dr. Rassman,

I’m a 22 year old Caucasian male who has experienced some recession due to maturation of the hairline (I hope so anyway). As a teenager I wore my hair long, and I now have long hair again. My question is, is it normal for my bangs to look and feel thinner since there is a higher hairline, and hence, less hair to drape down? And if so, is this a commonly reported phenomenon? Thanks!

This may reflect the miniaturization at the leading edge of the hairline, the first findings for hair loss. If your hairline just got higher due to maturation, I wouldn’t expect your bangs to appear tin. It’s tough to know what you’re seeing without examining you, though.

I Got Rid of Many Stresses in My Life, So Can I Stop Rogaine Now?

Hi I’m a female of 25. I have used Rogaine for men for about three or four years now, and my hair is relatively thick. When my hair loss began I was under a serious amount of stress, Had just come off of the depo shot (which I’ve heard can cause some hair loss), later developed a pretty serious eating distorter (I know also causes hair loss), and was a drug addict and alcoholic. Quite the laundry list I know.

Recently in the past year and a half I have recovered from the eating distorter, drugs and alcohol, and have a stable stress free life. My question is this, since there were so many factors contributing to my hair loss, and there is no way of knowing if it was onset adult hair loss, If i were to start weening my self off of rogaine would the hair loss start again. Is it possible for me to discontinue the use if it wasn’t female pattern balding, or does your hair develop a dependency to minoxidil. Further more is it possible to drop the dosages to the 2% in the woman’s without losing my hair as well. I appreciate any help you may be able to provide.

thank you

I honestly don’t know, but I can provide a mostly theoretical idea for a best case scenario: If there were hairs gained from Rogaine use, then those hairs will likely fall out when you stop using Rogaine. But if the hairs grew back on their own (without the help of Rogaine), then those hairs would stay.

I Got Gum In My Hair

Hi, about two months ago I got gum in my hair and my girlfriend ripped it out and with it came a chunk of hair. I didn’t worry about it all that much because you couldn’t really see the bald spot because my other hair covered it pretty well. Well it’s been two months and I got a buzz cut and now I still have a quarter sized bald spot a little bit above my left ear. How long will it take for this hair to grow back? Will it even grow back at all? I’m starting to get worried about permanent damage seeing as how it’s been two months and it’s still as smooth as a babies butt. Thanks.

The hair should grow back within the next few months. I have seen many cases of a one-time hair pull before (from a fight, mugging , gum situation, prank gone wrong)… and the hair has always regrown. You’ll just need to be patient.

I Got a Year of Finasteride for 16 Bucks at Costco!

Hi Dr. Rassman and Dr. Pak
I recently had an FUE procedure done at your Los Angeles office and I want to thank Dr. Pak and his stuff which are very knowledgeable and really smart! And most of all very carring and are willing to go the extra mile to make the surgery the most pleasant one, I even had I conversation with Dr. Rassman while waiting for the elevator to arrive, he’s so down to earth and very polite.

I just wanted to let you guys know that at Costco warehouse store I recently got my finasteride medication for the whole year for only $16 dollars, before I used to pay $63 dollars per month for propecia, big savings, Once again thanks to Dr. Pak, Dr. Rassman and all of your staff (nicest people that i’ve been around so caring!) and sorry that on the day of the procedure I didn’t shave my head off and for being a little late to the appointment.

Thanks for everything you guys do for us and keep up the great work.

Thanks for your kind words!

And thank you for sharing your Costco information. It seems they lowered their pricing. That’s great news! For anyone looking to save some money, I should note that you do NOT need to be a member at Costco to use their pharmacy (or buy liquor, for that matter)… but you do need a prescription for the 5mg finasteride (and cut the pills for treating hair loss).

I Got a Haircut 18 Days After My Transplant and I Felt Pain

I’m 18 days post op and i just got a hair cut today. I asked the lady cutting my hair to be gently when she combed my hair, but for some reason she didn’t pay much attention to my request. She rubbing up against my recipient site several times, i definitely felt some pain. While i know grafts are generally anchored after 9 days because of your joint study with Dr. Bernstein, but is it possible my grafts were damaged internally?

You may still have some tenderness, but I do not think you have anything to worry about that far out from your surgery. Shame on your stylist for not listening to you!
