The ethics of plumbers, contractors, auto-mechanics, and many other have always been questioned. I always tell patients to ask the doctor to introduce you to a few of his/her patients so that you can see the quality of the work they do and also to understand something about their humanity.

A proper consultation include building a relationship between the doctor and the patient, not a salesperson. Unfortunately, too many doctors see $$$ when they see patients. I often see patients and tell them that they are not good candidates for a hair transplant or that the timing is too early. I always build a Master Plan with the patient, so the patient has both a short and long-term plan which may or many not include a hair transplant. My favorite part of what I do is meeting the patient. My practice may be unusual in that I have many celebrities and CEOs of big companies, but I also get truck drivers or students too young for hair transplants. I try to give them the materials that equips them to handle their “balding problems” and balance it with their lives.

I am strongly considering a transplant, since I really am sad about my balding situation.

It is such a slow progression and at the moment It is only frontal part that will need transplant. I am 27 now and cannot tolerate the AR5 inhibitors (tried everything, including all different dosages). Crossing fingers for future treatments !

BUT I am afraid of the FUE scars (even with micro) if I eventually will have to shave it all off to the bare skin (if the balding continue, even on the side and back of the head). Can you share pictures of the FUE harvest area after a head has been shaven?

Most of those men who shave their heads after hair transplant either had: (1) poor or no growth, or (2) poor planning without a Personalized Master Plan and with unrealistic expectations that result. Also, if you shave your scalp very close after an FUE, you will see a lot of white dots, the scars left from the removal of the grafts which happens in 100% of FUE surgeries. FYI: any cut into the skin any place in the body will cause a visible scar.

Inert hair fibers like Toppik do not cause harm to the hair. Hair spray does not do damage provided that when you style your hair that you don’t tug your hair as tugging on the hair can pull out the hair at its roots and in the long term cause permanent hair loss and/or hair damage

The FUE is not scarless as it will produce some small, punctated scars. If the surgeon uses a small punch instrument, the scars will be small, but with a razor shaved head, the scars will show. We have performed SMP for patients with FUE or strip scars. Many of these people can now shave their head. I try to tell my patients that hair transplants don’t usually give back your original density, so a longer hairstyle works better than a shorter hairstyle since it will not reveal the lower density.
