I just wanted to ask you about this potential region of hair thinning at the nape of my neck. I attached a photo below that shows this in clear lighting. What are your thoughts about this? I have noticed this for around a year now. I am 19 years old with no known deficiencies. The first photo is the spot a year ago. The second photo is the spot now.
I don’t see the spot now. Thinning nape of the neck hair is genetic but not associated with Male Pattern Balding directly. Nothing to do about it.

Hi Doc,
I went to have a miniaturization study done, and the doctor noticed that I have miniaturization everywhere, even in the permanent hair zone of the scalp. He says that I am going through a thinning process as I go from an adolescent to an adult. How long can I expect this to go on?
If you are developing fine hair where it did not exist before as you go from an adolescent hair to an adult hair, then that is possibly your new norm. What did your doctor say about the cause, besides describing it to you?
Sometime we doctors don’t come up with a solution for thinning in women, even with extensive blood testing. A simple cosmetic approach is the use of Scalp Micropigmentation, something that I performed on my own family with great success. The cosmetic approach works well for men and women when surgery or drugs just will not help the situation as shown here: here: https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/thinning-hair-gallery/

I am the doctor who define DUPA (Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia) in men. It is real and tragic when it happens. About half of the men respond to the drug finasteride, while others don’t respond to any medication and hair transplants are always contraindicated. Here is the article I wrote defining it: https://baldingblog.com/wp-content/uploads/pdf/mp-1997-evaluation.pdf
The diagnosis is made using a microscope to examine the hairs in the donor area of the back of the head. Miniaturization will significantly exceed 20%.
I have gone through a period of very high stress and very poor nutrition, and my hair has thinned dramatically from the full head of hair I had. I am 58. My Father and Mother both had full, thick hair when they died. Will this come back as long as I have stress in my life, and is there anything I can do to help my body repair. My nutrition has improved. Thanks.
I know nothing about your sex (male or female) or if you’ve had any medical tests that may indicate disease, and on and on. See a good doctor and be sure you are completely healthy first. Then a hair expert will have value for you.
He did 1500 grafts in just 40 minutes. I counted only 700 or so. What do you think?
The surgeon must make a surgical record of the actual graft count. Ask for that surgical record, as you are entitled to it. In 40 minutes for 1500 grafts, I would say that is ‘god’s speed’. Was the surgeon some deity? The wounds look larger than I would make them. I would need more information about the surgery such as strip or FUE? If it were a strip, the dissection would not have been very careful and in 40 minutes, I believe you may have been, as you said, ‘taken to the cleaners’.
Your post operative care is terrible with crusts that should have been washed off immediately after the surgery. Now you will have to shampoo it often and wait until the crusts come off on their own. Use gentle finger massage and do not pick the crusts off as they run the risk of losing the grafts if you do. I don’t like the design of your hairline as it is not a normal looking male hairline
Dr. William Davis wrote this book and believes that probiotics will help you in many ways, including hair loss. One caution that he discusses is probiotics will increase testosterone. I know from years of experience that increasing testosterone will increase hair loss and not the other way. Many people who write about diet, don’t focus on the nuances of hair loss and connections like impact on testosterone levels. Just a thought!
