Hi Doctor, I had a question regarding Propecia. I know you mentioned on your blog that the good thing about Propecia is that the side effects should stop once you stop the treatment. I started Propecia but after a few months I was having sexual disfunction so I quit. My question is, will all the hair that’s been falling out from shedding be lost forever? Does some of the hair have more growth cycles left or is all the hair that falls out, hair that was destined NEVER to return? I recently had blood tests to make sure something else wasn’t going on, but they all showed I was healthy. The shedding has continued far past me quitting Propecia (3 weeks). When should it stop, and will any of that hair grow back? Thank you so much for your help! I have a lot of anxiety about this issue.
Shedding of hair after stopping the Propecia will take its toll on the weak hairs. There is a time when the hair will fall out and Propecia alters that time by delaying it. When you stop the drug, your normal hair loss will occur and continue until the worst of the miniaturized hairs fall out. Many of the hairs that fall out may not return. You may see shedding for months. I know this is not good news, but hair loss is a progressive process.

How can you be sure that the hair that falls out after stopping propecia wasn’t caused because propecia was taken? Isn’t it easy to claim it was going to fall out anyway?
i am seeing 70-150 hairs being lost in the shower and was wondering if this is normal or am i going bald. I have no known family history and if i start taking propecia and im really not balding will propecia have a negitive effect on normal hair?
I have been taken propecia for 5 years and have had 3 hair transplants. i had enjoyed and “optical” full looking widows peak. I stop propeica because I got a girlfriend and did not want sexual side effects. I stopped for 8 months and did not notice any shedding then “all the sudden” one day i notice my widows peak was not as thick in fact you could see my scalp.I have immedialy atarted back on the propecia for about 30 days now. I went back through some photos and realized that this only seemed “all the suddden” it actualy was progressive but i didnt notice until it it was noticable. I am hopping that since I was only off for 8 months and 1 of those months i took propecia that i might get back to that “optically” thick widows peak. even if I can get back 50 to 70 percent of what i had i fell you will not be able to see my scalp throughmy widows peak. what are the odds that i get some decent percentage back from what i lossed and how long should I expect to see a result. I assume that i may still have some shedding for antother month or so. Then i figues have takes longer to grow then shed. So I am thinking a good six months out my show some reversal. Rally the warning label on propecia should be changed from you will continue to losse hair to you most likly can lose hair at a high rate and it will be too late before you notice.
